This powerful, eloquent, and poetic memoir takes the reader on a journey that reminds us all that we represent far more than what is seen on the surface. Korleone Young, a former prep superstar witnessed the fruition of his greatest dreams, then watched them fade away. Like the agonizing closing seconds of a championship game, Young watched the clock run out on his career, but not on his dreams. This is a reminder that though we all experience setbacks, we were designed to be overcomers and conquerors - not quitters! Young's passionate reflections, as captured by the eloquent wordsmithing of Dr. Harrison, remind us all that our destinies have no endings, just new beginnings. Deeper still, this story is a challenge to re-examine how we differentiate success from failure, and a call to overcome the obstacles and fears that restrict us from reinventing ourselves. In a society that commonly reduces victory to distorted depictions of superficial accoutrement and other accessories that falsely suggest "making it", it is refreshing to hear a story that stresses that there is more value in character than in material wealth.
In this book author Rhonda Hicks shares strategies that will prepare any advocate for success
Cortney Holloway invites readers into a world where Summer reigns supreme. His poetry creates an inviting space for readers to freely immerse themselves in the downpour of life challenge, in a world where rain offers redemption. Flowing from his experiences as a twenty something; Cortney exposes the inner thoughts of an African American male as eloquently as his poetic forefather Langston Hughes. Inspired by the work of Zora Neale Hurston, and Tupac Shakur, his poetic journey began with writing stories and later mastering the art of iambic pentameter. He blends the formal with free verse, the style he so perfectly executes in his first published work Summer's Rain.

We're accompanied by our father, God, in this place with his son, Jesus, whispering instructions to help us navigate the journey ahead.
This book is an unadorned chronicle of Ms. Wilma Holloway's personal journal written about her life, marriage, divorce, singleness, and accumulation of acquaintances and friendships with very diverse, yet alluring men. She uses selected scriptures to guide her during these very rousing and emerging experiences. 2Timothy 1:12...That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet this is no cause for shame, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until that day. While Paul makes reference to his imprisonment, Ms. Holloway suggest these situations are a reminder that God is involved in the daily routine of what appears to be unconventional systems when it comes to dating and having friendships with men in this modern culture. Looking at life and the metamorphosis of change she experienced, she realized that God has a plan which caused her to begin to relax. God has a plan for everything, even the rejections that broke her heart and God's grace and loving mercy that healed her wounded spirit! It is a reminder that all things work for good. Ms. Holloway says, "God has graciously blessed me more than I could have ever imagined! I hold 2Timothy 1:12 as a mantra which exemplifies why I trust God in all things." Also, in Numbers 6:23, we are again reminded in the passage of scripture where Aaron is given instructions on how to bless people in the name of the Lord that they may enjoy God's protection and favor during a time of separation. The world has a way of condemning without knowing the facts. This is particularly true with believers. Divorce is frowned upon in the church, leaving those experiencing divorce few places of refuge and grace. Like most women, Ms. Holloway discovers after divorce that singleness is a lonely place. The change is uncomfortable and disturbing, and her conscious questioned every decision. However, Apostle Paul speaks of learning the value of contentment in Philippians 4:12. After much anxiety and soul searching, Ms. Holloway has emerged as a stronger, confident woman recognizing what "true value" is. Through Ms. Holloway's written journal, she tells her personal story of her divorce and a thirteen-year journey of singleness, reminding us of God's providence. God is always involved in our lives. A call-to-action has been placed upon educator, author and Pastor Riccardo Harris' life following the 2008 murder of his 19-year-old son. The motivation for the murder: a gang member did not like the way Harris' son glanced at him while their vehicles were stopped at a traffic light. Harris' son was not a gang member. The killing ignited the activist in Harris to turn his misery to a motivational message in hopes to save other young people from experiencing or perpetuating the senseless violence that claimed his son's life. Through masterful storytelling and a powerful delivery, Harris' message ultimately aims to help heal young people; to fill the voids within those who are hurting; to prevent inexplicable violence by promoting his character challenge; and to offer a word of caution about the far-reaching implications of gang violence- even upon those who have no gang ties. And while Harris knows there may be some young people who may continue upon a possibly perilous journey, his message candidly reveals the power of choosing another path.
