Experiments aiming at characterizing the effects of moisture content and temperature on the mechanical properties of concrete were conducted. Based on the results of the experiments, theoretical formulations were proposed and a new overall material model capable of predicting the mechanical behaviour of concrete subject to elevated temperatures up to 100 C was developed. The new material model estimates the time, temperature and moisture dependency of the compressive strength, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, creep and shrinkage of concrete. Consequently, this book provides specific knowledge about the influences of elevated temperatures and moisture content on the mechanical behaviour of concrete as well as a tool to calculate these influences. This shall contribute to the field of investigation of estimating the structural safety under ordinary and extraordinary loadings as well as to the area of evaluating the service life of concrete structures.
VOB (German: "Vergabe- und Vertragsordnung für Bauleistungen") is the standard reference work for the construction industry with an influence extending far beyond Germany. It governs the award of construction contracts (Part A), sets out conditions of contract relating to the execution of construction work (Part B), and describes good building practice for the many trades making up the construction sector (Part C): information that is essential for architects, engineers, investors, the trades, construction companies, building authorities and manufacturers of construction materials and components. This essential volume contains English translations of all 67 standards making up the VOB.
The Reference Architecture Model for Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0) is the first of its kind to unite different aspects of production in a single model. It includes a communication layer, the life cycles of plants and products, and automation and IT layers. This book provides the reader with a summary of various documents dealing with Industrie 4.0 and shows how they relate to one another. It also provides the technical basis for realizing Industrie 4.0 value-added networks, in which items from the physical world are described in the form of I4.0 components for use in the information world. This description is compliant with the Reference Architecture Model for Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0).Translation by Arabella Sprot
This handy bilingual (German/English) reference work provides a clear overview of European steel designations. Steel grades can be referenced according to material number or by old or new designations. The 4th edition of this handy guide to European steel grades has been expanded and fully updated to reflect changes in the relevant European standards. It contains: a detailed overview of the designation system // English and German lists comparing old and new designations // Tables of scope of use.
This book will be a best practice guide outlining the EU product liability and product safety framework with a focus on the automotive sector. With respect to product liability, the book will focus on the European Product Liability Directive and its strict liability regime. Furthermore, in order to provide a complete treatment of any product liability aspects, the book will also discuss product liability claims based on contract and general tort law principles.
