"Altha Burts openly reveals her long struggle to discover her true identity. Her mother died when she was a child. Her father ignored her. Men sexually abused her. She felt worthless, guilty, angry, and confused. Her search for meaning drove her into a lifestyle of emotional dependency, sexual confusion, and drugs, finally resulting in a mental breakdown. Then she found Christ and she became God's beloved child -- not a father's neglected daughter. She gradually changed as she stayed committed to discovering this new life in Christ. Altha was led by the Lord into a process of transformation which surfaced the underlying issues resulting from abuse and emotional deprivation. Issues that formerly she appeased by drugs and dependent relationships, could no longer be ignored. Could she now face the crippling feelings of inadequacy, anger, and depression, as well as overcome bulimia and anorexia? You'll see how God met Altha's pressing needs in the pages of this book. In the process you will discover that He is more than able to meet yours too." --Dr. Ed Murphy, former VP of OC International and part-time Associate Professor at San Jose Christian College, presently serving as Senior Advisor for the Africa Ministry Network.

Juvie is first which then leads to prison with age. Gracie has no hope of love until nine years later when she gets grace from God for a chance to live like a "Normal" human being for a couple of weeks. (With some restrictions of course). She won't completely be free because of this, but it would be enough to save her soul for a little while. On this journey though, Gracie discovers so many new things, and people. (One in particular). She starts to fill in the cracks of pictures she had once lost in her mind, but some of these things she doesn't wish to let go of. Gracie falls from grace, and then is sentenced to the dark forever. Beautiful things really only last a while. With time they grow dark, and shrink like a rose. Where are the colors of life? Did Gracie really find them? Or was it really dark all along? So much grace, and yet only one of them was truly beautiful.

Through the "cooking" and reducing of thoughts, and their distillation into such poems as those included here in The Max Collection of Max's Writings, I am provided a clearer view of my life and a humble rationale for my existence. I hope and pray that the works herein provide you with exactly the same. May you find that the writings herein evoke some universal feelings of the human condition, as well as of your own condition, and in so doing give you some food for thought and reflection. Bon appetit!
Newsboy, factory worker, sailor, gang member, oyster pirate, hobo, gold prospector, social crusader, war-correspondent, world adventurer, farmer, self-educated scholar, and literary giant. Jack London was all of these and more. From his birth, as an illegitimate child, the story takes us through his difficult childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area waterfront, his life as an oyster pirate, and his work for starvation wages. At 15, he rode the rails across the United States. At 20, he hiked the Chilcoot Pass to the gold fields in the Klondike. He covered the Russo-Japanese War and the Mexican Revolution. At the peak of his career, he was one of the best known socialists, and the best selling author in the world. Jack London is the closest thing this nation has to a literary folk hero. Alfred Kazin put it best when he said, "The greatest story Jack London ever wrote was the story he lived." Here is that story.
HIMSELF if the third book published in the Track Series that includes Kahlir and Prophetic. In HIMSELF, everyone can see there was something, just not right this this new guy, but if you tried to tell Merced, you were wasting your time. How can you go from having so much drive, direction and purpose, all stirred in charm and personality, to refusing to take a bath? You may think you know the answer. Does every word matter? Well Merced's does. The CEO of the largest advertising agency in the world, he was solely responsible for influencing you. He's the definition of vanity with confidence, looks and money to support it. He also has a heart of gold and a powerful anointing hidden behind his words, to which magnitude, even he doesn't know. Does every word matter? Teufel knows the answer and he knows he had to stop every word that has the potential to come out of Merced's mouth. Especially before he is saved, because his anointing doesn't just change your mind, it completely and instantly wakes you up to the reality of God. If he can influence you without God, imagine what he can do with Him. Teufel's objective, he doesn't care what he has to do, who he has to use or destroy to get rid of Merced. He saw him coming and he has finally figured out just how to do it. Be careful whom you call friend.

Following in the footsteps of her famous grandmother, Nan Patton was a storyteller extraordinaire. From "The Day the Museum Got Robbed" to "The Meanest Cop in Dallas," here are Nan Patton's mostly true tales of Texas, presented in an amusing way that was uniquely hers. Nan Patton spent the last decade of her life at the Stillwell Store and RV Park, next to Hallie's Hall of Fame, just outside Big Bend National Park. To the tourists, campers, and locals there, she was known for her big smile, welcoming spirit, cheerful demeanor, and entertaining storytelling ability. Her grandmother, Hallie Stillwell, was a pioneer ranching woman, and was a 1992 inductee in the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Her two books, "I'll Gather My Geese" and "My Goose Is Cooked," regaled readers with tales of her West Texas ranching days. A spunky Stillwell descendant, Nan tells her own stories, living the life she loved on the family ranch. She brings humor and wit to the ups and downs of her life. Nan passed away in 2012, before she could finish her book. Ann Whitford fulfilled a promise made and finished the book for her. She was assisted by the many friends and family who knew and loved Nan. They contributed photos, memories, and more stories about her. This compilation portrays a life well-lived. Personal and engaging, this entertaining book adds another biography to the collection of the many characters from the Big Bend area.
A reporter interviewing Pamela about her book "Celia, Army Nurse and Mother Remembered" remarked, "One-hundred years from now, people will be reviewing this book. It's a fascinating document of your family and American military history." This second book by Pamela, her memoir, "A Glass Heart: An Inspiration of Love," relives her gifted life of hardships through her strong Catholic faith. It reveals how God's amazing grace uplifted this grandmother and journalist's heart through years of sickness, love of family, and worldwide travels. A very inspiring memoir.
