Charles Joseph Fickey may be sworn to secrecy about his covert activities during WW II, but the haiku in this book reveal his obvious talent as an observer of people and their nature, both as individuals and as members of society. Some 1,300-plus poems give him away! Arranged in no particular order, the haiku address matters of love (of course), the weather, math, eternity, war, science fiction, friendship, space travel, the nature of man, the nature of haiku, and the nature of the Universe; and much, much more. You think you are going to stop, now. "Well, just one more," and "one more." Pages later, you are still reading, "Just one more." Mr. Fickey is clever that way!
"Time Is Leaving" are poems reflecting the passages of life that the author has experienced. They are celebrations of the people he knew and loved, they are observations of the beauty in this world, and the sadness he felt when death took them away. They are the individual's journey into the goodness, love and beauty of the world as he perceives it. From the poem "The Lenape" "It has ended for you my people, The deep silence spreads the ghosts Of your being into the soul of trees Who watched your journey from birth, Who loved you, birth after birth Into the beginning and endings of life."
Seen through the eyes of a girl and sometimes a horse, The White Stallion begins with curiosity and then evolves into trust and friendship. It deals with kindness, gentleness and patience, with fear and courage, with love and loyalty; and it shows the results which all these qualities can achieve. It shows the effect one person can have upon each one we meet, whether they are enemies or friends or strangers.
As he truthfully recorded in his first novel, Sworn to Secrecy for Life, Charles Joseph Fickey met the woman of his dreams in the course of carrying out a clandestine mission for President Franklin Roosevelt during WW II. The young hero promised to return for Ilse. This book is-far more than the first novel-a closer to fact than to fiction recounting of the young man's return to Germany and his determination to find his woman. Because he was still in the Army, and because the War was still not over, our hero's movements were constrained by his work. Readers of Sworn to Secrecy of Life will find some of their old friends herein, and some of the old scenery. But one wonders how on earth, if indeed ever, the two lovers will be united. True to form, Mr. Fickey's chapters always end with the requirement that the reader turn the page to find out what happened next. There's your clue!
From offices fronting for the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. to the jungles, mountains and plains of Southeast Asia, the author draws the reader into the "Secret War" of the Sixties in Laos. While the action centers around the maneuverings by Air America in support of the Laotian anti-communist forces against the Pathet Lao and, at that time, the North Vietnamese threat, the author explores the various locales, from Bangkok to Vientiane, from Saigon to Taiwan, and from Japan to Korea that form the background for the "Secret War." If you saw a recent movie that depicted Air America operations, now read a novelized account from someone who was really there, in the air and on the ground.

"Nobody can talk about heaven and hell well without reading this book. Yet, even a lot of people of God are caught by the hand of the enemy by denying the fact that there is heaven and hell. Although the head of Satan who has the authority to control the world already has been crushed out on the cross, still many are deceived and believe in that there is no heaven no hell. If we can see the reality of heaven and hell directly, our walk of the faith and ministry would not be so powerless and just exhausted in this world. Indeed, your attitude, and worldview will be changed after reading this. Once you start reading this book, you will notice that Helena Hong (Hae Sun Hong) had received the gift of delivering as it is what she has seen in heaven and hell which you never heard from other testimonies of heaven and hell. I do recommend this book for those who are awake in this era." -- Peter Jeoung, a Missionary & Senior Pastor for Homeless Ministry in Downtown LA. "What a fascinating testimony! I pray for God to use this book to touch many people's hearts and to encourage them to live their lives on earth in light of the moment they will meet the Lord Jesus face to face in heaven." -- Samuel S. Choi, a Missionary in Kenya, Africa
THE HOOGHLY GIRL is the unforgettable true story of an orphaned girl who grew up in a jail in India and found a new and unexpected life in America. In 1970, at the age of three, Kusum Lata fell asleep while riding a train with her mother and younger brother. She and her brother awoke to find that their mother was no longer there. Inconsolable and unable to provide their names and address, Kusum Lata and her brother were given the new names of Munni and Munna, and were placed in a local jail with other orphaned and abandoned children. Ultimately, Munni and her brother Munna were sent to the notorious Hooghly jail, where the children had no outside visitors except the monkeys that sometimes came to steal their bread. Eventually, Munni was adopted by an American family in rural northern Minnesota, where she experienced the shock of a new culture, new language, new climate, and new family. Through good times and bad, Munni, now known as Monique, remains positive and hopeful that one day her biggest dream will come true -- that she will be reunited with her long-lost brother, whom she hasn't seen since she was separated from him while in the Hooghly jail.

JOB AND HIS FRIENDS is a short novel based on the story of Job in the Bible (the NIV translation is used herein). The reason I have written this book is that not many people seem to fully understand the story of Job in the Old Testament, and I want to remedy this. What is the cause when we experience some unexpected trauma in our lives, especially without any warning? And how do we sense the warnings from God prior to the actual journey into the desert taking place in our lives? Is it possible that God loves us yet still allows us to go through hardship and turmoil? Are hardship and turmoil a method through which God communicates with us human beings? How do we measure the degree to which we acknowledge God as He is? How does God call us in our lives, with what kind of atmosphere, in order that we may have a close and a real relationship with Him? What is a fundamental starting point between the creator and us? This short novel will guide you in starting to understand the ways in which God expresses His love for us, and the way of keeping the relationship of our Almighty God between you and Him, our real husband.
The years between the 1996 and 2000 were significant in the metropolis of Detroit, Michigan. A stellar community figure - Mr. Kostas Karakostas - after over 30 years decided to give up the radio program at WXYZ. The author and his son - Dino Karakostas - took over for a short time, and then by early 1997, the author was left by himself to carry out the ethnic radio program. However, because of the demand of the listeners the program was extended to a two hour format and it was moved to WCAR. When the program ended at the end of 2000, many listeners started to request some of the programs that I had talked about. The requests increased as time went on and this book is in response to these requests. Specifically, this book is an anthology of some of the topics that were discussed over the four year period. The work is divided into two volumes. Volume one is in the Greek Language and the second one is in English. The topics vary from politics, to religion, to science, and miscellaneous items. Of importance is the chronological events of St. George parish in Southgate, MI. Many programs were devoted to this parish because of the problems that the Parish Council, the Priest and the hierarchy of the Church refused to address. As a consequence the parish was demoralized and most of the parishioners left. In the appendices of both volumes the reader will see some of the letters that were sent to reflect the frustration and inability to bring harmony in the parish.
"Ten Things Every Church Member Should Know" provides a guide for us to become the children of God that our spiritual Father made us and that our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross that we might become. It is as we increase our understanding of who we are in Christ and walk in that grace that we are able to have a more profound positive impact on both the Church local and the Church universal. This book's approach to positive organizational membership and leadership is both practical and scriptural. It is suitable for all organizations, groups and ministries, but particularly the church. If you are a ministry, group, or organizational supporter that desires for their institution, no matter how large or small, to run more effectively, then this is the book that will help you to have the insight and develop the skill set to accomplish your goals. Also, if you are currently a leader or desire to be one in any capacity, this book is a must read. The principles that are contained within these pages will provide you with the purpose, power, and truth that you will use to make a dramatic positive difference for the rest of your life.
'Runaway Republic: Tyranny Exposed & Call for a Truce' is a tribute to the victims of Kenya's Post Election Violence in 2007/2008 and those who champion their cause to ensure that their memory lives on. It provides a fair and balanced review of the brazen deceit, demagoguery, violence and thuggery that have dominated Kenyan politics far too long and needlessly caused senseless losses of thousands of innocent human lives. The events and issues underlying the Post Election Violence, i.e. unbridled quest for power by any means necessary, are all too common in Africa and often go underreported. This text seeks to stop that. It also exposes, by name and deed those behind the atrocities, the dark side of politics, the excesses of power, and the attempts of world powers, through global resource deployment, to mitigate damages. Did the violence provide The International Criminal Court, The United Nations, The United States and Europe a strong enough reason to solve some of Kenya's perennial problems for the last time or an incentive to reconstitute and install a new regime in a new neocolonial era? Did Kenya's failure to right itself amount to forfeiture of her sovereignty all together? Will the international community truly serve justice or manipulate it? As Kenya inches toward a critical historical turning point, the options are limited while the dilemma widens, for Kenya and Africa as a whole. There are no easy answers to these questions. However, if this text helps prevent or stop one more death, rape, maiming and destruction of property for any reason at all, it would have served its purpose.
This is the continued sequence of Pearl's true life story as she advances through her life, physically and psychologically, amongst the shared captivity with her human and estranged feathered flock. Within the gradual and steady transformation of her newly reformed and increasingly feathered body, she provides her newly adopted family an education about a promising, peaceful existence with the other parrot and animal species. Her trust and kinship grows exponentially on a daily basis as we allow this treasured and respected exotic animal to expand our simple, human mentality by giving her the much appreciated freedom to be a contributing member of our complex, leadfoot-on-the-ground existence on this Earth that we share in an attempt for a peaceful union.
Thirteen young Boy Scouts climbed up to Half Dome, but only twelve came back down. Discovering what happened to the missing scout is Nick Falconi's task. He has been hired by Patrick Toomey to begin this quest. And what a quest it is! He interviews artists, business men, hippies and priests to get to the facts. Yet the most difficult and most irrefutable fact is that the mystery of this missing scout occurred sixty-one years ago.
Almost no one knows how great doctors are made, but with the grace and humor of a professional writer, Schultz describes his own beginnings, his education, his training, life threatening incidents and events that spiced his professional life, earning him an international reputation along the way. From witch doctors in Africa, to drunken Soviet surgical innovators, to the CIA, Schultz has seen, and tells it all. If you ever need someone to slice you open and correct deformities that either nature or an awful car crash has wrought, a guy like Schultz is exactly who you want. He was reserved, imaginative, precise, hideously conscientious and totally prepared in the operating room. Outside the Op room doors, this book reveals a really nice guy having the time of his life pursuing his career, helping found whole hospital departments, and demonstrating his procedures in three dozen countries around the world.
