"The seven books of wisdom include Job, the Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Wisdom, and Sirach, all of which teach one thing in a universal and essentially poetic manner: wisdom. Wisdom is a practical type of knowledge that is to be reflected in right living. This book offers a spiritual engagement of the Old Testament genre that will enable the reader to apply the teaching in everyday life"--
"Objective: This study examines potential risk factors for long-term abortion-related distress in women. Method: One hundred and two women receiving outpatient psychiatric services were assigned to one of three groups on the basis of their reported abortion history. Women with a positive history of abortion were assigned to a distressed or non-distressed group depending on whether abortion-related distress was a primary presenting problem. Women with no history of abortion who sought outpatient services served as controls. Results: Comparisons across groups revealed that the abortion-distressed group had symptoms consistent with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, including intrusive thoughts of the abortion experience and active avoidance of events associated with their abortions. Two women who underwent an abortion following rape were both in the abortion-distressed group. Conclusions: Implications for identifying women at risk for long-term distress are discussed and suggestions for clinical interventions are made"--
"All is changed when a hurricane floods the city of New Orleans, displacing fourteen-year-old Roman Moran and his family not only from their home but also from the daily round rehearsed for them by generations of life in the Crescent City. Slowly a new world reveals itself to Roman, one in which the play of light upon a fish, the sound of a guitar string struck, the fractures in his spiritual patrimony, and even the loss of his best friend's faith call him to rejoice in the grace of Creation"--

S.C. Naoum created EOTT in 2011 and has gained a loyal and confident following of many different Catholic personalities. A downed U.S. fighter pilot survived nearly eight years in a brutal North Vietnamese POW camp by repeating the Mass to himself each day, in Latin and in English. A Maryknoll bishop survived nearly a dozen years confined by Chinese Communists through daily mental recitation of the Mass. When finally released, he actually celebrated the Mass while still his hospital bed - and clad in his pajamas!Do you know and love the Mass as if your life depended on it?In his bestseller Memorize the Faith! Kevin Vost harnessed the memory methods of Sts. Albert the Great and Thomas Aquinas to help us memorize key elements of the faith, from the 10 Commandments, to the 20 Rosary Mysteries, to all 73 books of the Bible, and more.In Memorize the Reasons! he called again on the methods of the great Catholic medieval memory masters to show us how to defend the reasons for what we believe, from the primacy of Peter, to the Marian dogmas, to the relationship of Scripture and Tradition in the Holy Catholic Church. Now, in Memorize the Mass! Dr. Vost applies the powerful methods of the Catholic art of memory once more to all the parts and rites of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, both in the Novus Ordo or Ordinary Form and in the Extraordinary Form or Traditional Latin Mass. Readers will learn not merely how to memorize facts and repeat them like a parrot, but to come to know the names, the sequence, and the meanings of both forms of the Roman Rite of the Mass like a rational human being made in God's image and likeness with an intellect and a will, and they will learn to engrave each and every one of those rites upon the tablets of their hearts, knowing them literally forward and backward!Do you want to know and love the Mass as if your life depended on it? (For in a real sense, it sure does for us all!) Then open up Memorize the Mass! and begin to participate in the celebration of Christ's Real Presence before us in a way you may not have imagined before.
All of life involves waiting. We wait at stoplights. We are caught in traffic jams. We agonize over medical test results. We hang on to a much-anticipated getaway. Sometimes, we wait to finish a project, welcome a new relationship, or open our hearts to the work God has begun in us. Regardless of how often we wait or upon what, Jeannie Ewing explains with clarity and encouragement how we can use the moments of waiting in our lives to grow spiritually. Waiting with Purpose will show you why God asks you to wait and how He is speaking to you in the times when nothing seems to be happening.
