Forty short, easy-reading memoirs record events that occurred when the author and his family lived and worked in the Middle East. This was before the days of mobile phones and all forms of communication made possible by the advent of the internet. The stories cover family matters such as travel, language learning, cultural issues, home life, illness and accident. The work stories are about teaching Science and English at secondary level, followed by the production and distribution of Christian films and teaching material in Arabic on video. The events all took place in peaceful Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Cyprus, and also in civil war torn Lebanon when both "peacekeeping" Syrian and "occupation" Israeli armies were also deployed in different parts of the land. The majority of the stories tell of incidents that could be construed to have a supernatural, or God directed, element in them. The reader is left to decide which of the stories recount supernatural incidents or if the events described were just welcome and timely coincidents.

When a priceless artifact is stolen from a Saigon museum, she searches for the valuable item without help from the police. Threatened by a crime organization, she and an American correspondent (who have fallen in love) flee Saigon, pursued by hired killers.

In Berlin,1942, crime reporter Thomas Rost is released from Sachsenhausen Concentration camp to steal a holy relic for a powerful government and Party official. If he refuses, a close friend will die. Stella by Star Light can be read as a stand-alone novel or as a follow-up to The Berlin Trilogy.

When a prize-winning dog is stolen in Spain, the Dog Finders hit the road with a former shelter dog named Silver. The Alsatian's nose for Amarillo's scent leads them to North Africa and the eastern Mediterranean, in one adventure after another for the amateur detectives. In the end they encounter a miracle amidst the ruins of an ancient city.

The Book Finder, an historical mystery, is the third part of the trilogy. Book critic Thomas Rost and his companion Ingrid had to leave Berlin in a hurry. Traveling to Dresden for information on the lost diary results in more trouble so, on to Prague and even greater danger. Finally, Munich beckons with the promise of the prize, at the risk of imprisonment or death in wartime Germany.

Here's a story of mystery and romance set in French Indochina during future president John F. Kennedy's only trip to Vietnam. Congressman Kennedy's visit in 1951 with his brother Robert and sister Patricia is woven into the fabric of the story, as Bobby is met in Saigon by a foreign correspondent. Their friendship introduces unexpected danger to the Kennedy's since the newspaperman and his lovely Vietnamese interpreter have been drawn into a murder investigation. Secret Society thugs and assassins stalk the American writer, while a possible origin of the so-called Kennedy curse appears. The mystery unfolds as Jack Kennedy's secret mission in Vietnam comes to light.

Laddie the Collie is leading the search for a stolen Chihuahua around Mt. Rainier National Park.
