Sam is faced with a lawsuit for one of the most ridiculous reasons in the history of the courts. The term of the lawsuit is plausible, but the grounds on which it is based stems from selfishness and greed. While researching her maternal family history to defend her case, she discovers more secrets and lies. As she is trying to make sense of what she has learned, tragedy strikes and she is forced to concentrate on the "here and now" rather than the past.
