There are already enough words here, so I will only add that writing about moments helps me to be present to this one. And, this small read is dedicatedto my beloved Teacher, who inspired all herein.

Free Verse for a Free Mind is a collection of poems that describe and explore different states of consciousness, as an experience of both the new and unusual, and the simple and immediate. The poems are in various "free verse" styles, in keeping, it is hoped, with the particular experience being conveyed.

Unheard Melodies is a collection of poems that use regular verse and rhyme schemes to explore the heard melodies of aural and visual experience, and, behind them, the unheard melodies of our own Self living these experiences. The sweetest songs are never heard.

Our daily life is composed of many simple moments, moments that we often underestimate, or disregard altogether. But what if we want to learn more from these moments? Put another way, what if circumstances compelled us to learn more from these moments, whether we wanted to or not? Such is the dilemma that the characters in each of these stories face, as they discover the mystical amid the ordinary, with eyes wide open.

There isn't time to read an essay, or plan an in-depth study. There isn't time to read many lines. Zen days, Zen nights are here. Hold your head at a slight angle, don't think too much, rest in your insight. Small points of interest can ignite a roaring flame, sending sparks to Heaven. If you will, read with compassion.

These small angles of thought were written in May and June of 2022. Spring seems to inspire writing. The process of formulating and composing has helped me to have a stronger focus on what is most important to me. Although not everyone may think these quips wise, here are they humbly presented. Hopefully, open hearts will benefit by reading, and passing them on to others. I do not claim to be able to live up to what is printed here, but I will continue to try.

These thoughts were written from February to July 2021. They include daily experiences from home cloistering and short trips to the West Coast of Northern California. Each day represents a musing slice of my inner and outer life. It gives me pleasure to share with you a silent and hopefully enriching journey together. Please read slowly and let the images cover you with joy.
