Here is a book full of little short stories dressed up in the clothing of limericks. They are illustrated also. They are more of my personal favorites. If you look up "limericks" in the dictionary, you'll find a definition that mentions words like "humorous", "bawdy", and "frequently funny". This form of poetry lends itself very well to short story telling.Humor is universal. Laughter (via sarcasm, bursts of levity, and satire are the stuff that limericks are made of!) Where would we be, if we could not laugh at ourselves?I have illustrated my limericks to boost the grins and the fun of it all. My material is drawn from a lifetime of observation. It is hard for me to take a daily walk with my wonderful wife, Rockette, and not see a limerick somewhere in the environment, screaming to be written down and illustrated! What I have attempted in this booklet, is to bring a smile to everyone who sees and reads each and every page.

Someone once said that a picture is worth 1,000 words. Idioms create pictures also. They can be facilitators (when they help in understanding) or they can become barriers (when they confuse understanding.) What I have attempted to present in this book is to remove any barriers to understanding idioms (by drawing an illustration for each idiom.)Every language has idioms. Some have fewer, some have more. Idioms enrich language by making it more colorful, more memorable, more useful, and above all, more fun. America has idiomatically been called "The Melting Pot" because of all the many immigrants (with such different languages) who have made this country their home. Because of this fact, America can boast that it has the richest treasure chest of idioms. It is also why the American Language is so difficult for people to understand. Socrates said {/Something is good when it fulfills that purpose for which it was created." I believe that my Illustrated American Idioms will fulfill the purpose of helping people to acquire understanding, better their language usage skills, and laugh more through it all.

A Description Of This Booklet Someone once said, "A picture is worth 1,000 words". Idioms create pictures also. Idioms can be facilitators (when they help in understanding) or they can become barriers (when they confuse understanding.)What I have attempted to present in this booklet, is to remove any barriers to understanding, without using a thousand words. Instead, I have drawn an illustration for each and every idiom.Every language has idioms. Some languages have fewer, some have more. Idioms enrich language by making it more colorful, more memorable, more useful, and above all more fun!
