"This book is all about fearless queer photography." i-D / Vice Art, more than anything, opens up the possibility of approaching one's own sexuality beyond the limits imposed by taboos. Not only does it allow for a risk-free, playful exploration of gender and forbidden desires, but it is unique in capturing its contradictions. In recent years, a young and active queer photography scene has emerged, helped in large part by social media. Indulging their desire for self-presentation, affirmation, and reflection, many photographers portray male homosexuality in particular as a private idyll. At the same time, they shine a critical light on their own and society's approach to transsexuality and gender roles and expose the corrupting but also affirmative power of pornography. Films, series, and mainstream cultural appropriation suggest that society has largely embraced queer lifestyles. However, a number of documentary photographers provide evidence that being gay or lesbian can still lead to marginalization, isolation, stigmatization, and violence in certain countries and communities. Their works also take the regime of sexuality itself into account and show that many bans on same-sex contact have colonial origins. This carefully researched and richly designed book introduces 52 contemporary photographers, including those of well-established notoriety as well as plenty of unknown and less well-known talent. Texts by: Ben Miller, Edna Bonhomme, Alexander Chee, Gert Jonkers, Shiv Kotecha and Huw Lemmey. Photographs by: Mohamad Abdouni, Michael Bailey-Gates, Damien Blottière, Gianfranco Briceño, Francesco Cascavilla, Lia Clay Miller, Maika Elan, Kostis Fokas, Benjamin Fredrickson, Milan Gies, Goodyn Green, Julia Gunther, Alexandre Haefeli, Robin Hammond, Florian Hetz, Jonathan Icher, Claudia Kent, Jan Klos, Matt Lambert, Pepper Levain, Daniel Jack Lyons, Maria Clara Macrì, Mark McKnight, Rafael Medina, Melody Melamed, Manuel Moncayo, Hao Nguyen, Ralf Obergfell, Joseph, Wolfgang Ohlert, Brian Oldham, Laurence Philomène, Pauliana Valente Pimentel, Bettina Pittaluga, Laurence Rasti, Red Rubber Road, Spyros Rennt, Jordan Reznick, Lissa Rivera, Ashkan Sahihi, Bradley Secker, M. 3D art is in a transformative moment. This dynamic art movement is enabled by new tools and limited only by the imagination of its creators. Artists working in CG art today are unfettered by curators and gatekeepers, making their case directly to the public, largely on social media platforms such as Instagram. Organized in 3 sections, People, Places and Things, Computer Generated dives into this movement to showcase a cross-section of work from some of its most dynamic artists such as Andreas Wannerstedt, Antoni Tudisco, Roger Kilimanjaro, David McLeod, Alexis Christodoulou, Josh Pierce and Alexy Prâefontaine. This collection aims to define a new art movement, serve as a resource for the digital art community, and inspire a new generation of CG artists.

The way apparel has been worn and created by skateboarders over the past 50 years has had a tremendous impact on popular culture at large. In 'Skateboarding Is Not A Fashion', the authors have taken great effort to document all aspects of this aesthetic movement; from its roots in the 1950s as an offshoot of surfing culture, through the early 1980s when skateboarding "found itself" after a crucial underground period of soul searching and DIY expressions of individuality. Early generations of surfers and skaters wore coastal lifestyle brands such as Jantzen, Hang Ten, Jams, Vans and Hobie. As the culture progressed and developed its own distinct identity, brands core to the scene such as Vans, Santa Cruz, Powell-Peralta, Sims, Alva, Jimmy'Z and many more jumped into the fray with their own apparel. Nearly every area of garment design was touched by skate wear's aesthetic-- influencing the design and fashion of innumerable media from printed T-shirts to board shorts and denim to track suits along the way

Distinctive hand lettering is an essential skill for artists and designers. Deftly executed letter froms are a nearly forgotten art in an age of endless free fonts. Graffiti is one of the last reservoirs of highly refined, well practiced penmanship. The most reviled and persecuted form of Graffiti, the Tag, is seldom appresiated for the raw beauty of its skeletal letter forms. Most tags are removed immediately, and the casual viewer seldom has a chance to descern the difference between entry level and advanced hand styles. Within the pages of Flip the Script, author Christian Acker systematically analyzes the best graffiti writers from around the United States. Acker presents the lettering samples in a clean organized format, giving the material a proper formal treatment evoking classic typography books.
