Follow Jimmy on his journey from his birth, through to the birth of his first child at the age of 21. His early life was filled with every kind of deprivation, he was constantly living on the edge of starvation, the threat of death was never far away either from his home life or from his multiple abusers, the authorities knew what was going on but they didn't help, the most they did was observe, the schools also knew the treatment he was getting at home, every day of his young life was lived in fear, his mind, his body, and his very soul were shattered, 3 times he was placed into a children's home, a place that should have offered a bit of safety, but this place was no better, it was just another place of fear and terror and abuse, only this time at the hands of strangers. for little jimmy no matter where he turned, he found no peace or comfort, his abuse and torment went on until he was in his early teens. Jimmy's early life left him confused with what he was meant to be, was he straight or gay, he hid all the traumas from everyone, at times he would drink away the pain, but it never left him. help arrived in the shape of Judy, she loved his pain away, it was a love he had never felt before, a pure unconditional love for both of them, but this was ripped away from them through lies and deceit, it led to them being jobless, penniless, homeless, a mental hospital, and the ultimate ending of their love, none of it their fault, all done out of pure spite. Jimmy was left alone no Judy, no family, no home, no job, no money, no hope and no help, he tried to get his life back together as best he could, but he would endure more obstacles, a house fire that nearly killed him, a 21st birthday spent alone in the cold and rain, a spell in prison. His life only made sense when his first child was born, its when he began to feel normal, but for over 40 years Judy remained in his head and heart, how could he just forget her, he couldn't.

Kraj is still a young, unexplored world. Here sailors are hopeful, merchants are jubilant, and the aspiring scholars of each realm are still teething on what information they can clasp from beyond their borders. Yet for all its promise, Kraj also hosts a forgotten anomaly who withers in hidden confinement. In the sunken heart of an ever-blue forest, an ageless creature is stirred from its perpetual sleep-walk. Cloud-cursed and without memory, 'Lu' is invited by a sorceress to leave his bloomy abode in pursuit of the River Sprite Tlephilisse on the radiant Lila isle. In exchange for recollection and freedom, Lu is instructed to befriend, but ultimately assassinate this innocent creature. After encountering the sprite, and with his first taste of the outside world, Lu's allegience falls into question, and a greater adventure calls from beyond Empryc's tropic coasts. Against the orders of his Mistress, Lu concludes that it is time to think for himself. Equipped with the enigmatic glass-blade Umbra, Lu finds himself faced with otherworldly demons, befriending an enormous lavender fox, and being welcomed into a cult that dwells exclusively in a place of eternal dawn. An amorphous evil shifts beyond the visible horizon, but those most familiar with it are the very same who offer the least explanation. One thing, however, remains clear: no matter how far Lu strays, it seems that he cannot escape the will of his awakener.

Lusaka to London in ANA45 - Tales from along the wayThe author describes various incidents which took place during his overland travels from Lusaka to London in 1986 from Zambia in Southern Africa to London. Travelling in an old Land Rover (with the registration ANA45), these were the days before sat navs or mobile phones, what could possibly go wrong? Leaving Lusaka in February 1986 with a travelling companion (a young Brit called Peter, recruited by the author's wife), the journey was to take 6 months. Only 80 miles from Lusaka the first major mechanical failure on the Land Rover resulted in expensive repairs, using up all of the remaining Zambian cash which had been set aside for fuel. Undeterred we continued to the Tanzanian border where the vehicle was then loaded onto a ferry travelling up Lake Tanganyika. On route up Lake Tanganyika was where the next major incident occurred. After visiting silverback gorillas in the Virunga mountains in Rwanda, and negotiating civil unrest in Chad, the next major challenges involved dealing with serious illness on board and total vehicle breakdown in the Saharan desert. Bartering with the locals for spare parts to repair the vehicle, ANA45 was repaired and the journey continued through Algeria. Peter was now in a medical clinic receiving life saving attention and the author was travelling alone through the desert when the Land rover's chassis split almost completely. Roadside repairs in Morocco saved the day. The journey through Spain passed without incident but the final breakdown occurred in rush hour traffic around Paris!

This is a fictionalised social history starting in Victorian dockland London. A lighterman, Frederick Horsfall, who worked the docks from his barge, unloading ships of every sort of cargo coming into London for the great exhibition of 1851. A tough trade, living in tough conditions in one of the most poverty-stricken parts of East London. It follows his children and grandchildren, who became Royal Marines, sailors and soldiers in the great war. It tells of their lives, loves and deaths through some of the most dramatic times in history. The story then follows a ratcatcher, William Jennings from Great Bentley in Essex, his trade, his life and marriage and his son Ernest. Ernest who became a Metropolitan policeman, working his beat around the East London docks, supplementing his living by bullying and extorting from the opium dens, brothels and illegal drinking dens of Chinatown in Limehouse. The third family, the Spiers family, started life in the village of Earl Shilton in Leicestershire, where they were forced to leave their home village to find work. They moved to Birmingham where life did not pan out as they hoped, so they continued their journey to London. Crossing paths while there with the Jennings and the Horsfall families. Two of these families emigrated to the far-flung parts of the world. One family to Brisbane in Queensland Australia, the other to St. Louis in America. The original letters and documents their descendants kept form the basis for the facts of this book, the dialogue and characteristics of the participants are purely fictional. The family dramas are interwoven with the historic global events occurring at the time.

In my first book the Nature Spirit, Moonpool, told of her interaction with the humans as they developed from the last Ice Age until just before the Roman Occupation. This follows on from there through the Roman Occupation, the Middle Ages and right up to the present day. As Christianity spreads there are times when Moonpool, because she is a Nature Spirit or a Pagan Fertility Goddess, is at odds with the established Church, yet she is simply a created spirit ranking slightly lower than the angels and higher than the fairies. She is more concerned with the people of the valley and continues to get involved with them. She prevents conflicts, she helps them through the Black Death, she helps with personal problems and she even solves a murder and saves men from being crushed while digging a railway tunnel. It is a story of friendship, of loss, sadness and joy. Moonpool knows that she will never be human but the one thing she wants is to be remembered, because in this age of climate change humanity needs the Nature Spirits more than ever. This may be called 'Moonpool Revelation' but there are more than one revelations in this book and much of our perceived history is challenged. You have to decide, is this a work of fiction, or have I been talking to a Nature Spirit?

There is a reason the education system fails to teach us these commandments because if they did, then nobody would exchange their life for corporate slavery. By corporate slavery, I am not talking about employment. Employment is a necessity for many and some even love their jobs. In fact, employment can take you to great heights of success too. A country's President or Prime Minister is also an employee who gets a monthly wage. What I mean by corporate slavery is settling for a job you hate and accepting your fate as it is. Corporate slavery is giving in to your circumstances, even though you know in your heart that things could be better. I guess a more accurate term here would simply be slavery. My life changed the day I stopped feeling sorry for myself and took matters into my own hands. You were born to do great things and I will do everything in my power to teach you how. WHAT WILL THIS BOOK HELP YOU ACHIEVE? ¿ It will teach you the precise commandments of success (what the schools will not teach you).¿ Help you build a bulletproof mindset which is crucial for success.¿ Equip you with the knowledge and practical steps to help you build the life you truly want.¿ Help you escape the vicious circle of unhappiness and open doors of opportunity.¿ It will teach you how to harness the power of your subconscious mind.¿ Give you an unfair advantage over the 'average mindset' people.¿ Turn your fears into your strength, and your doubts into belief.¿ It will give you a lasting boost in confidence which will make you more attractive and influential.¿ It will ignite the fire to turn your inner wants into an obsession and help you relentlessly pursue your goals.¿ It will switch on your creative mind to aid you on your journey to success.

StoryFrames: supporting silent children in the classroom. How does a teacher support a child who has recently arrived at school, speaking another language, and who remains completely silent at school for weeks or months, not participating in class and not even playing with other children? The child's parents often report that the child speaks and plays normally at home, with their family and with other children who speak the child's language. These children, undergoing the "Silent Period", are usually children who have relocated from another country, either voluntarily or as refugees or migrants,. For a variety of reasons, these children do not have the resilience needed to cope with the many changes and anxieties they have experienced. The losses for these children are more than the loss of familiar faces, places and conversations; the loss of their home language is experienced as a loss of the self they had known before the relocation. The psychoanalytic theories of Colette Granger provide a way to understand the experiences of these migrant children. The StoryFrames book sets out an easy-to-follow, low-cost method of supporting these children, enabling them to emerge from their silence, and to play with other children. The book is written by a speech and language therapist, but any teacher, social worker or volunteer, who is experienced in working with young children, can run this programme. The methodology of this programme is grounded in the developmental theories of Winnicott and Vygotsky and as such it stresses the nature and quality of the teacher/child relationship which is at the core of this kind of work. The book explores the feelings not only of the child in this situation, but also of the teacher working with such a child; such a teacher must deal with their own anxieties about what the child is experiencing, and about whether they, as the teacher who is expected to solve these problems, could be doing something different. The StoryFrames method is not only for second language learners. It has been successfully used with children who have a wide range of communication disabilities. Children with Developmental Language Disorder, children who stutter, children with intellectual disabilities and Highly Sensitive Children have all benefited from the use of this programme, which uses narrative and pretend play to help the child to develop linguistic and cognitive skills, as well as to have the confidence needed to communicate with others, in spite of the difficulties. This book is an invaluable source of information for anyone wanting to understand the nature of the teacher or speech therapist's relationship with children with communication difficulties, and should be essential reading for trainee speech and language therapists, as well as for teachers training in early years education.

SCRAPS, the full title being Scientific Charles Recalls a Poetic Stevenson, written by Charles Alexander Stevenson, was an idea the author had recalling and correcting some impressions of his cousin Robert Louis Stevenson and of life in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, in the 19th century.Much has been published about RLS as a writer, however here we have a first hand account from his cousin, of the young man, his family, within the context of the environment in which he was brought up. Charles Stevenson provides an intimate and authentic description of this Scottish writer in his early years before he became famous. In the latter part of his life, Charles Stevenson, despite his failing health, remained determined that the manuscript of his compiled recollections should be completed as a published book. With the help of his daughter, May (Evelyn Mary Yeoman), he was able to dictate his thoughts, which she would transcribe each day prior to his corrections and amendments. The process ended on Charles' death in 1950 and it is only now that this project has finally come to fruition.

It's 1973 and The Rocky Horror Show is about to be launched onto an unsuspecting world for the first time. Martin Fitzgibbon was the young drummer recruited specifically to play an integral part in the show's success. Here, for the first time, Martin gives his unique insight into how the show and its participants became an overnight success and created a cultural phenomenon which fifty years on still reverberates around the world. But there was a life before and after "Rocky" too, which although not straightforward, was overwhelmingly one of fun, laughter and surprises. Behind The Curtain is a tale of contrasting worlds. Of optimism and resilience when dealing with the challenges of life. The authors intention is to take you into that world and leave you with a smile.
