he following stories and poems, inspired by God, are those of an ordinary woman's Spiritual experience of faith. They are stories of a journey, one which goes to the depth of despair and Hell, to tell witness to the wonder of God's healing and deliverance to the mountain top! They offer, I hope, a hope of Divine healing to others, who may be going into the dark depths of hopelessness. Some stories, such as "Life with Tigger," are lighthearted fun, while others, such as "a Time to Weep...A Time to Heal," are stories of hope. They reveal a woman who has journeyed the valley of darkness and emerged into the light of her faith.
Let me ask a profound question. Are you surviving or starving in your relationship? Staying too late or leaving too soon is not just about a movement...it is about a mindset. What is the current health OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP? What is the conclusion? Have your eyes being playing tricks on you? Did your mind trap you? Or is your heart telling you the truth? I found out either we are belonging or we are prolonging. Too many times we facilitate behaviors that are not compatible with our request. Thereby, settling to a desire, that contradicts design that has been chosen by God. If not careful, you will become too comfortable, and it will become too convenient, and you never become convicted. Only truth sets you free. Is this a relationship or relation trap? Author - Elder Tim Grier native from Charlotte N.C married to Angier Grier has 5 children and 7 Grandchildren. Daphne was born in British Guyana in the year 1938 where the blimp would drop food during the war years for the residents. Those were the days when children were told to be seen and not heard. She learned to keep her own company with pen, paper, cloth, needle and thread making clothes for her wooden doll. After the fire and racial discrimination in Guyana, she migrated to Trinidad in search of a better life. Daphne, at the age of 22 years old had three children ( one girl and two boys) with no self esteem. She got married to a photographer and three more children were added to her brood. After graduation at the age of sixty years Daphne was tired of the pace in New York and the long winter when she accepted an offer to relocate in North Carolina (1999). She was a resident in Jacksonville and was introduced to the "Potpouri Writers Group" where some of her thoughts and feelings were recorded on paper. Her hobbies are sewing, reading, knitting, music and writing which will always be a nutrient to her well being with God's help. Some of her poems were published in the Onslow Record. (Don't give up, and What I want for Christmas) we're chosen for publication and the MILLENNIUM won a third place in the competition for 2000.
IT'S THAT TIME...the greatest time you will spend today!! I know life is busy. I know the last thing you need to do is add one more thing to your plate today. Let me encourage you. As a pastor, I once struggled with spending time with God. You are probably thinking, why did I buy this devotion? It's ok, I am human too. When I decided that I was responsible for my own spiritual growth, I began seeking after God more. I asked God to give me a hunger and a thirst that He could only satisfy. I found myself wanting more of God, seeking more of God, serving more than ever, and even giving more to God. My prayer for you is that you will never be satisfied with your relationship with God. I pray that you will always have a desire for more of Him and His Word. I want to encourage each of you to make an appointment with God, just like you do for your hair, for your golf game, for your sleep over, and for your dentist appointments. God wants to hear from you and He wants you to hear from Him. So, grab your Bible and this devotion because "It's that time again." The greatest time you will spend today! I promise that as you grow more in love with Him, your love for Him will continue to grow!
My first thoughts about this book "The Thangs Mama' nem Said, was around 2008. After reading one of Langston Hughes's poems in the dialog of African Americans after slavery, the broken English, and what I to call laze tongued poem awakened something within me and inspired me to try and write one of my own, that birthed the poem "Devil Keep On Bother'n Me." This caused me to think about the sayings I heard my great grandparents, grandparents, parents and the older people in my community use, and caused me to realize that this dialog and the sayings were slowly fading away. This made me realize that my children and grandchildren had never heard most of these sayings. In no way am I implying that we should teach our children to speak this way. I am a firm believer in using correct grammar, and speaking correctly. This book is just one way of taking a peak into our past, preserving it for the future and maybe in the process we just might get one of them gut busting laughs on the way.
