The story is about a young girl and her dog living in the countryside of Eastern Victoria Australia. Wandering about the hills and forest near to her house, Lizzy Lu discovers new adventures and challenges to her young life. Great stories for the very young and early readers.
Perhaps might be designated as 'extreme politics' regarding Australia at this point in time... its internal feuds and its responses to external world pressures. Tom Law certainly hits one in the face with his blunt analysis and will undoubtedly challenge apparently well held views and belief systems. We live in uncertain times where many of the threats and fears since the end of WWII have not dissipated. A tome to make one sit up and reappraise the realities of those 'slings and arrows' encountered each day of our lives in a complex world.
'Unwarranted Influence' were two pertinent words contained in President Eisenhower's departing speech in January 1961. Tom Law's latest book is about contemporary wars and the evil of the armaments industries where profit looms large over human lives. But mostly, it is about the urgent need to eliminate nuclear weapons. There have been many organisations across the world with the same intent but always to be frustrated by the superpowers and their generals! Tom is vehement in his argument that change will only come about by the dedicated application of international humanitarian law at the United Nations General Assembly. International law and a constant 'demand' by people is the best way forward to bring this goal to fruition. Time is short if humanity is to avert some final catastrophic conflict ending civilisation upon the planet.
