This is a collection of essays on a remarkable and turbulent period in the political history of Nigeria. Although written between 1999 and 2003, the focus of these essays reached far behind that period to the crises of the annulment of the June 12 1993 Presidential elections and its aftermath. The annulment marked a defining moment whose impact still haunts Nigeria's democratic experiment to date. The essays seek to offer both the general reader and professional an insight onto the issues, currents and trends that defined this watershed decade and its sequel, of which the current political dispensation is a part.

Oshare and Omote have been married for over ten years, but the marriage has not produced a child and their community discards them. Their marriage is widely considered bankrupt, even by themselves. This novel explores how the modern Nigerian couple contend with their dilemma.

This anthology of essays brings together original critical comments on Nigerian literatures written in the 1970s and 1980s. It is a celebration of Nigeria's contribution to the world's heritage of letters. The twenty-three essays in it explore the fundamental role of the intelligentsia in defining and describing the nation state in space and time. The contributions represent some of the best and most articulate assessments of Nigeria's literary discourses in their pre-colonial and colonial phases. The various ideological reflections in the essays reveal significant details about the intellectual and imaginative processes that have gone into the shaping of Nigeria over the centuries. This is a study of the principal aspects of the Udje tradition Á poetry, dance and music Á of the Udu and Aghievwen divisions of the Urhobo of Delta State, Nigeria. It defines the territorial scope of the study, surveys Udu and Ughievwen social history, and situates Udje within the context of the Urhobo song-poetry tradition; reviews the theoretical perspectives on the practice of satire in the Udje dance-songs, and considers the conceptual views of some Udje practitioners of Udje, both as a literary art and as a medium for social reform; and attempts to classify and describe Udje songs. The concluding chapters consider the decline of the Udje tradition and the satirical song-poetry tradition in Urhobo, reviewing how post 1960s trends are likely to affect the artistic integrity of Udje in the future.

The author, a former lecturer at University of Jos, analyses the principles of evidence, which are not so much seen in textbooks but evolved by the courts themselves.

One viable method of bringing about international co-operation is through the harmonisation of laws.
