The Gospel of the Holy Twelve presents vegetarian versions of traditional teachings and events described in the canonical New Testament. The first collected volume was issued by The Order of At-One-Ment and United Templars Society-a publishing imprint which the author had established in 1881. The explanatory preface referred to an ancient source manuscript "preserved in the Monasteries of Thibet" which has never been produced or proven to exist. In subsequent editions, released during the early 1900s, the anonymous Editors revised their claim by stating that the text was "communicated" by departed mystics "in dreams and visions of the night".

The work attempts mainly to depict in general outline the character and the promise of a new man, Mass Man, and a new world, a world of technological collectivism, which the author sees as emerging with the simultaneous demise of the modern age. Mass Man, alienated particularly from the concepts of Nature, Personality and Culture which had dominated the modern age since the time of the Renaissance, is seen as dangerously poised between the possibility of total destruction and the possibility of the most naked type of spiritual commitment. This is a book which expressly disavows either a progressivist or a reactionary attitude and attempts simply to face what seem to be the facts about ""post-modern"" man and his world. 2018 Reprint of 1923 Edition. Cane is structured as a series of vignettes revolving around the origins and experiences of African Americans in the United States. The vignettes alternate in structure between narrative prose, poetry, and play-like passages of dialogue. As a result, the novel has been classified as a composite novel or as a short story cycle. Though some characters and situations recur between vignettes, the vignettes are mostly freestanding, tied to the other vignettes thematically and contextually more than through specific plot details. The ambitious, nontraditional structure of the novel - and its later influence on future generations of writers - have helped Cane gain status as a classic of High Modernism. In The Negro Novel in America, Robert A. The Scripture of the Golden Eternity is a book of 66 prose poems written by Kerouac and first published in 1960 by Corinth Books, New York City. The book is Kerouac's sutra on Buddhist philosophy, in which he describes a "Golden Eternity" that is paradoxically everything and nothing.The 66 prose poems or "meditations" deal mainly with the nature of consciousness and the impermanence of existence. The main influence is Buddhism, but the use of the word "scripture" in the title alludes to Kerouac's Catholic upbringing and influences, evident in this work and others.

Tristessa is a novella by Beat Generation writer Jack Kerouac set in Mexico City. It is based on his relationship with a Mexican prostitute (the title character). The woman's real name was Esperanza ("hope" in Spanish); Kerouac changed her name to Tristessa ("tristeza" means sadness in Spanish and Portuguese). Allen Ginsberg, in describing the book, wroteof the book as "...a narrative meditation studying a hen, a rooster, a dove, a cat, a dog, family meat, and a ravishing, ravished junkie lady". In Tristessa Kerouac attempts to sketch for the reader a picture of quiet transcendence in hectic and sometimes dangerous circumstances. He chronicles Tristessa's addiction to morphine and impoverished life with descriptions tinged with elements of her saintly beauty and her innocence.Early in the novel, Kerouac attempts to communicate his Buddhist beliefs. These beliefs become entangled as a metaphor in the unfamiliar culture and language that Kerouac tries to grasp and connect with in the story. The contrast between the initial reaction that the reader may have of the impoverished, marginalized life of Tristessa and the self-destructive nature of her addiction contrast with the beauty of Kerouac's descriptions.

2018 Reprint of 1937 Edition. The basic premise in all of Belloc's work was that Christianity, especially the Catholic Church, was responsible for much of the advent of western civilization. Regarding the Crusades, Belloc's major thesis is that after initial military successes, the Crusades were doomed to fail due to the failure to conquer Damascus. In his opinion, Damascus was the key communications center between Muslims in the Middle East and North Africa and Muslims in Mesopotamia, Persia, and Central Asia. Failure to secure this key point meant that Islamic armies could converge on the Christian enclaves. This situation in conjunction with unreliable military reinforcements meant the enterprise was destined to fail.

Irving Bush was a former faculty member of Los Angeles College and a remarkable trumpet player of his day. In 1962 he wrote and published a book entitled Artistic Trumpet Technique and Study. This work includes a wide range of material discussing all aspects of trumpet playing, such as breathing techniques, embouchure, tonal production, extreme registers, and intelligent practice procedures. All these divisions are large subject categories, which have subcategories accompanying them. It remains a significant book to this day and quite uncommon in the second- hand market.

2017 Reprint of 1855 Edition. Written by a Pennsylvania Dutch healer in 1820 in German, this book is a rambling collection of rural home remedies and folk invocations. Pow-wow is a unique creole of Christian theology and a shamanistic belief system. It is still practiced in some rural areas of Pennsylvania. In spite of the name, it is not of Native American derivation. It is believed to have been brought over to America by German immigrants who practiced folk-magic. It was not translated into English until 1855. This edition is based on the English translation of 1855.This little book includes healing spells, binding spells, protective spells, talismans, wards and benedictions. The text is also of historical interest, as it paints a vivid picture of the miseries of rural American life in the early nineteenth century. The original is very rare.

Zamenhof, a Polish-Jewish ophthalmologist from Biäystok, then part of the Russian Empire. According to Zamenhof, he created the language to reduce the time and labor required to learn a foreign language and to foster harmony between people from different countries. This revised edition of the Esperanto grammar was the first published for English readers - and benefited from the personal supervision and official approval of the founder, Dr. Zamenhof.
