While Frederick Taylor was tinkering with the technology employed by the individual worker, Fayol was theorizing about all of the elements necessary to organize and manage a major corporation. This work, published in French in 1916, was practically ignored in the U.S. until Constance Storrs' English translation, reproduced in this edition. Since that time, Fayol's theoretical contributions have been widely recognized and his work is considered as fully important as Taylors. Fayol's work was one of the first comprehensive statements of a general theory of management. He proposed that there were Six primary functions of management and 14 principles of management:1. Forecast and plan2. Organize3. Command or direct4. Coordinate5. Develop output6. Control (French: controler: in the sense that a manager must receive feedback about a process in order to make necessary adjustments and must analyze the deviations)

From Murphy's view, the whole truth is that life begins and ends in one's self. When the dominion of the individual is understood-his absolute control through the right word, over the drama of his consciousness-then he finds the universe his playground, life an eternal day, every man a delight to meet. Chapters on Divine Guidance, Power to Choose, Rebirth, The Bible and Man, Subjective Mind Impressions, Touching the Living and Dead, Hearing and Seeing, False Prophets, Missing the Mark, Oneness with God, Forgiveness, Outpicturing Man, Inequality of Man, Time and Space, The Journey Beyond, Finding Oneself, Renewal of Mind, Meditation.A native of Ireland who resettled in America, Joseph Murphy was a prolific and widely admired New Thought minister and writer, best known for his motivational classic The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, an international bestseller since it first appeared onto the self-help scene in 1963. A popular speaker, Murphy lectured on both American coasts and in Europe, Asia, and South Africa. He wrote widely and his many books and pamphlets on the auto-suggestive and metaphysical faculties of the human mind have entered multiple editions.

  • af Ednah Anne Rich

2019 Reprint of 1905 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. "What is Paper Sloyd? The preface to Paper Sloyd:A Handbook for Primary Grades by Ednah Anne Rich defines Sloyd as "tool work so arranged and employed as to stimulate and promote vigorous, intelligent self-activity for a purpose, which the worker recognizes as good.""Sloyd, which means "skilled labor" in Swedish, was originally a system of manual training focusing on woodworking and its associated tools. In the case of paper sloyd, the focus is on creating useful objects with paper, and the tools are things the homeschool handy-mom is likely to have on hand - pencils, rulers, scissors, glue, string, compasses, and hole punches."-DIY Homeschooler. Rich's work has become a classic, especially within the world of homeschooling and do-it-yourself. Our edition is a remastered facsimile of the original edition, including an enhancement of the original photos and illustrations.

  • af John C. Calhoun

  • af Fritz Heider
    293,95 kr.

2015 Reprint of 1958 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition. Not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. "The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations" pioneered the modern field of social cognition. A giant of social psychology, Heider had few students, but his book on social perception had many readers, and its impact continues into the 21st Century, having been cited over 13,000 times. In "The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations," Heider argued that social perception follows many of the same rules of physical object perception, and that the organization found in object perception is also found in social perception. Because biases in object perception sometimes lead to errors (e.g., optical illusions), one might expect to find that biases in social perception likewise lead to errors (e.g., underestimating the role social factors and overestimating the effect of personality and attitudes on behavior). Heider also argued that perceptual organization follows the rule of psychological balance. Although tedious to spell out in completeness, the idea is that positive and negative sentiments need to be represented in ways that minimize ambivalence and maximize a simple, straightforward affective representation of the person. He writes "To conceive of a person as having positive and negative traits requires a more sophisticated view; it requires a differentiation of the representation of the person into subparts that are of unlike value (1958, p. 182)." But the most influential idea in "The Psychology of Interpersonal Relations" is the notion of how people see the causes of behavior, and the explanations they make for it-what Heider called "attributions".Contents:Introduction -- Perceiving the other person -- The other person as perceiver -- The naive analysis of action -- Desire and pleasure -- Environmental effects -- Sentiment -- Ought and value -- Request and command -- Benefit and harm -- Reaction to the lot of the other person -- Conclusion -- Appendix: A notation for representing interpersonal relations.

2022 Reprint of the 1926 Edition. Trade Edition without the illustrations. Smoky knows only one way of life: freedom. Living on the open range, he is free to go where he wants and to do what he wants. And he knows what he has to do to survive. He can beat any enemy, whether it be a rattlesnake or a hungry wolf. He is as much a part of the Wild West as it is of him, and Smoky can't imagine anything else. But then he comes across a new enemy, one that walks on two legs and makes funny sounds. Smoky can't beat this enemy the way he has all the others. But does he really want to? Or could giving up some of his freedom mean getting something in return that's even more valuable? "There have been many horse stories. But not one of them can compare with this book." -- New York Times Book Review"One of the finest horse stories ever told." -- Herald Tribune

2019 Reprint of undated Edition from the 1920s. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition software. This title is one of eight titles comprising the series The Bible for School and Home. It was used in Charlotte Mason schools and intended for parents and teachers to use in preparing Bible lessons for the children in their charge. Each of the volumes contains two dozen or more lessons, preceded by the same lengthy introduction to sound teaching practices, a section which is well worth reading. For each lesson Smyth specifies the Biblical passages to cover, then provides background information you can incorporate in your telling of the story to gain the interest of your children, carefully framed questions you can use to draw their attention to the main points, and ways you might direct the conversation to stir their affections and their actions. The story in this sixth volume recounts the story of Christ as he returns to Jerusalem to die. Knowing his death is imminent, Jesus packs these last days full of powerful teachings, including the Parables of the Lost Sheep, the Lost Coin, the Prodigal Son, the Good Samaritan, the Ten Virgins, and the Talents. The author covers all of these teachings in his commentary and culminating in the Crucifixion and Resurrection.

  • af G. E. Moore
    188,95 kr.

2019 Reprint of 1922 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Moore played as important a part in the development of modern philosophy as his contemporary, Bertrand Russell. Principia Ethica is the first, and the most famous, of his few published works. Principia Ethica is concerned with the basic principles of ethical reasoning. Two questions are all important: what kind of things are intrinsically good; and what kind of actions ought we to perform? The simplicity, clarity and common sense of Moore's writing bring fresh life to the study of ethics; his intellectual honesty and vigor give this book the stamp of greatness. -From the back cover.
