E.A. Johnston, Ph.D., D.B.S. is a fellow of the Stephen Olford Center for Biblical Preaching and an evangelist and conference speaker with Ambassadors For Christ Intl.-USA. Dr. Johnston has been a student of revival for several decades and his ministry passion is toward revival in the Church and spiritual awakening in the world. Dr. Johnston is the author of seventeen books. The last three books of Dr. Johnston, published by Revival Literature, are George Whitefield: a Definitive Biography in two volumes, clothbound with dust jacket, containing 1172 pages and 48 photos. The foreword and preface were written by Dr. J.I. Packer and Richard Owen Roberts; God's "Hitchhike" Evangelist: The Biography of Rolfe Barnard with a new look at one of the nation's unique evangelists in the 20th Century that will prove to be captivating reading for those interested in revival; and Asahel Nettleton: Revival Preacher, a clothbound book of 519 pages, also commended by Dr. J.I. Packer who says: "The momentous ministry of the Edwardsean evangelist Asahel Nettleton, a key figure in the Second Great Awakening, has been effectively forgotten during the past century and a half of less-than-Reformed revivalism. Dr. Johnston's masterful and thorough biography is a long-overdue tribute to this outstanding servant of God, and is priority reading for all who care about evangelism today."
"No other man in history was so mightily used of God in revival as Asahel Nettleton. He labored amidst more revivals of religion than Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield! One can learn much about how God moves in revival by studying Nettleton's life, therefore this book will be a useful tool for any serious student of revival. Secondly, the role that Nettleton played as a defender of the faith against the 'New Measures' and the 'New Haven Theology' reveals how theology in America shifted from its Puritan roots of Calvinism to a more Federalized man-centered theology" (from Introduction by author E.A.Johnston).
A biographical account of Evangelist Rolfe Barnard's life mainly drawn from his sermons and containing what Dr. Johnston has called Ten Classic Sermons. It will cause you to worship the Triune God for His omnipotent power in saving sinners and rejoice in His eternal love, sovereign grace, and infinite mercy. This book will remind every God-called preacher that the God we serve is thrice holy, and both preacher and hearer will be called to stand before Him who is a "jealous God" and know that "it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God." This book will cause you to pray the "Lord of the harvest" to raise up in our beloved Republic, from coast to coast and border to border, a band of fearless, Spirit-filled preachers like Barnard. Such men will call our churches back to New Testament Christianity, where weeping over and boldly witnessing to sinners is seen again as one of the primary ways of glorifying God as a result of having Biblically worshipped the Triune God.
