In 2018 I was diagnosed a type-2 Diabetic. I got out a bound notebook and began documenting my situation. My past glucose was above the glucose normal range of 74-100 mg/dL, my HbA1C 11.5%, my weight was 185 lbs. and my height 5 feet 11.5 ins. I was already using Dr Amy LEE's, probiotic BIO-X4. Dr, Lee is a Nutritionist and Weight Management Specialist. A side benefit of her program was my HbA1C dropped to as low as 3.5%. I was monitoring my finger-stick blood glucose levels preBREAKFAST, preLUNCH and preDINNER. On February 15th I started with Dr Marlene Merritt's Blood Glucose Formula (BGF) to see if this probiotic would indeed lower my circulating blood glucose. The preLUNCH and preDINNER began to separate from the preBREAKFAST (nocturnal) glucose values. This glucose change was statistically significant and the preDINNER glucose levels separated statistically faster led me to identify a nocturnal phase and a diurnal phase of Diabetes. I was able to verify and extend the finger-stick data with the LibreLink technology. Now this single Type-2 Case Study needs to be verified with ten (5 female/5 male) patients and extended to nondiabetics and severe diabetic groups for comparison, and a better understanding of Diabetes. Glucose is a universal energy molecule that can be found in every cell in the body, and maintaining its normal levels is critical to good health.

Everyone has hopes and dreams as a child. Some children are better able to realize their dreams because of their family and economic conditions. Some children dream big, but due to circumstances in life have to scale down their ambitions and settle for less than they had hoped. Some children have a bleak future because of social, environmental and economic situations, but in spite of these adversities are able to overcome these obstacles and live meaningful, productive lives. This is a story of a young girl in the direst of conditions - an orphan, stuck in an inner city social service system, often moved from one place to another, unwanted and with no one to advocate for her welfare. She has good fortune fall upon her and makes the best use of her new found luck, until she gets caught in a trafficking ring, and has to use all her wit to confront what happens next.
Christina Houfek's Uncovering the Strength Within is an inspired, guided journey that unpacks life's inevitable baggage in a way that makes the discomfort tolerable and happiness attainable. Houfek offers an enlightening re-interpretation of ancient yogic traditions for the western audience. Written in a conversational style that inspires trust, Houfek weaves modern science, spiritual concepts, pop culture, and humor to help the reader explore and achieve contentment in a post-pandemic world. She walks readers through understanding their true self, shares ways to embrace what is, and demonstrates how to embrace inner strength to overcome obstacles blocking the path to contentment. Her fresh model introduces the reader to back door hackers, the R.A.W. (regret, acceptance, and worry) scale, distraction mode, and our internal navigation system or G.P.S. In the first section, Me, Myself, and I, Houfek creates a framework of the self comprised of the me you see, the idea of me, and the me that is. She introduces the Architect, Critic, and Witness as critical influencers to how we see and understand who we really are. This exploration of the self helps the reader understand the ways in which they integrate life's experiences to inform their self-perception, create and adorn emotional armor, and hide from uncomfortable truths. The following section, Land Ho! Navigating Life's Uncertain Seas, walks the reader through the mental models, cognitive biases, and experiences that have great potential to influence decision making. In, When Fear is My Copilot, the reader explores the ways emotions, in particular fear, impact how they perceive the world and give away their power. The Kingdom of Make Believe, provides the reader with the tools to stay in the present moment and avoid being dragged into the tempting world of what was or what might be-where regret and worry reign supreme. Sprinkled throughout these sections are "Pause, Reflect, and Record" activities whi
If you are able to place yourself in one of the following situations or something similar, color meditation will benefit."I'd rather be in a different state of mind than deal with all the stress I'm going through, so I self-medicate.""I get panic attacks and anxiety and it becomes hard for me to breathe.""My anger is out of control!""It's hard for me to concentrate."Color meditation is a conscious activity focused on relaxing the mind and body through breathing. It clears the mind from on-going thoughts and outside distractions. Nature has provided everything we need. Most importantly is the air we breathe. Breathing in color is for the spirit, just like food is for the body. "The activities are à wonderful bonus! If you take your time and answer the questions openly and honestly you really can tap into your inner self, I know I did. Thank you." YaYa B.We are the sun, water, earth and air.
Behind the scenes of America's first TV war."With the proliferation of televisions, news networks strived to have the most exciting, dramatic, and attractive stories. They competed for the finest reporters, highest-rated equipment, and largest number of viewers. ... For the first time in American history, the news from the front lines was brought straight into the living room." - Jessie Kratz, Historian of the National ArchivesAs American families sat down for dinner in front of their TV sets 50 years ago, horrific stories from Vietnam flashed across the screen. It was one of the country's bloodiest conflicts and we had a front-row seat 10,000 miles awayVietnam has been the subject of hundreds of books, movies and commentaries for decades. But we know little about how these stories were gathered and told, nor about the men and women who risked everything to tell them. Our gaze back then was on the fighting at a time when the war everyone hated and feared reached a climax."Tales from Monkey Mountain: Stories of the Vietnam War" is a different account of Vietnam. It is a war seen through the eyes of a young Navy press escort officer stationed in DaNang, not far from the Demilitarized Zone separating the Vietnamese north and south.Mike Hoyt became immersed in almost every aspect of the war and in the telling of its stories. A trained journalist, Hoyt takes us into the heart of the conflict for a rare look behind the scenes at how the news media went about covering the fighting."Tales from Monkey Mountain" takes us on a journey through the strange, uncharted waters of news gathering in combat. We follow Hoyt down dangerous rivers, into smoky bars, through enemy attacks, onto the flight decks of aircraft carriers, on Swift Boats and river patrols, lumbering Navy supply boats dodging mines and into furious Naval gunfire support missions on the South China Sea.We glimpse the inner world of Vietnam and its remote, ancient villages and hamlets w
This collection is the third book in a series and contains sixty poems by Gordon Alexander. As in the previous two poetry collections, the writer continues with his approach using astute perceptions expressed with artful rhyming. Each poem is titled with a single word and does not intend to lure the reader into any special meaning. Instead, the poems are straight forward reflecting a personal awareness, exploration, and expressions of truth or experience. Clear and concise, the words mean exactly what they say as the author creatively plays with the rhythmic consonants and musical tones of vowels that embellish the topic. The author's inspiration comes from personal observations witnessed from afar or in conversation with people known and unknown. The topics are broad in nature; some humorous, some poignant and philosophical. One of the strengths of the poet's writing is the universality of content that makes them accessible, entertaining, and almost educational at times. This poetry collection does not require any chronological order to read and enjoy the poems, making it suitable for short or long poetic reflections that give all readers freedom and flexibility. To date, Gordon Alexander has written and published over 200 poems and has joined the ranks of American poets from the country's midwestern region. His style is reminiscent of Ogden Nash's word play in poetry complemented with strains of older Scottish poet Gerald Manley Hopkins who used the rhythm of ordinary speech. In the end, reading these poems will heighten everyone's appreciation of the power of words, as well as encourage more personal presence in life that transforms even the most ordinary moment into a revelation. As the only living member of the second generation of her immigrant Armenian (Hye) family to come to America, Mara Sarkisian Fanok did not want the memories of their courage to be forgotten. Our Hye Life begins with the massacre of Armenians under the rule of Sultan Hamid, the Ottoman Emperor, leaving the author's father and his sister orphans. It was a tragic time, and their survival was a testament to their courage and faith. By the time Mara was born, her family had been in America for over twenty years, and much of her knowledge of the Hye life is based on anecdotal stories. One such story is of her great-aunt, whose strength was first evident during desperate times, as she kept the family intact despite the threat of the Turks. At the age of 65, she was the last family member to arrive in America. She could neither read nor write, but her fearlessness was evident when she took the subway, alone, from Brooklyn to Washington Heights to visit her younger brother.Mara's family left behind sadness and despair, and came to the U.S. with dreams of promise. Her novel is a tribute to their gifts of tradition, courage, family loyalty, and an enduring belief in God.
This is a collection of poetic interior monologues delivered in a variety of voices, dealing with politics, race, economics, science, psychology, history, art, philosophy, sex, vocations, avocations, sports, etc. These eclectic speakers do not necessarily reflect the author's personal ideas on these subjects. The self-nominated Pulitzer Prize competitor thinks that this is his best work yet in the context of four earlier poetic collections and one play. Most of the poems are written in a traditional form (i.e. sonnet), but there are others in blank verse or free verse. The interior monologues of Robert Browning have been an inspiration as have the plays of a fellow named William Shakespeare!
The Oligarch Conspiracy, a geopolitical thriller, is topical, creative, and realistic. A cutting-edge novel, it jumps from the front page of today's newspapers and television news reports of Russia and Ukraine. With their usual audacity, Levine and Alyssa agree to the request of the American President to establish an extra-governmental back channel with Russia in the context of its "special military operation" in Ukraine. They journey from their home in Florida to Moscow, where they meet with Russian President Lenkov-but is the man really the president, or perhaps a body double? From Moscow they cut across time zones, flying to Doha where they network with an assemblage of oligarchs in a bold gamble to achieve success with the perilous course of action assigned to them. Along the way, they interact with oddball, intriguing and graphic characters as they scramble to execute their singular assignment. "Hints at what may come to pass...a work of fiction that could unquestionably foretell the future."

This is your winning season. The seasons of self-doubt and self-destruction are over. God provided Adam, Eve, and Cain with a remedy to their problems. His name was Abel. This young man was sent into their lives to make them better people. They did not understand his full potential and how it would impact their future on the planet. Abel was sent by God to bring a new transition from how they were living into a world of great expectation. As Abel worshiped God, he brought favor into the land. His worship changed everything in his day. I believe God is raising up those that are able in this day. You cannot walk in the ways of Cain no longer because his ways brought death into the land. It was only through the favor of God from our worship that healing can come to our homes, cities, and our country. Winning is a result of positive thinking and a positive attitude. Rejection and neglect caused Cain low self-esteem and a negative self-image which produced self-sabotaging behaviors. You are no different. Many of our failures are a result of self-sabotage. We placed ourselves in the position to fall. So, it is also required that we place ourselves in the position to get back up. God has supplied you with everything you need for this journey and it is up to you to use the resources that you have. Cain destroyed the most important resource that was available to him. We can learn from his mistakes and release the able back into the land. This book will challenge you to find yourself and walk in the best version of it. You are not Cain or can't, but you are Abel (able).
This story, based on real people and events, is set in the first half of the twentieth century, primarily in the rough and ready regions of Texas and Indian Territory (Oklahoma). The central character is Carlos Benson, an appealing, ambitious, and talented young man with a promising future but whose reactions to events, tendency to veer off course, and whose inability to sustain relationships combine to put his life in jeopardy.
"With unwavering support, I endorse this magnificent book on chasing one's dreams. The book is a creative and innovative reflection of the incredible character of the author Maria Alice, whose passion and love for life display and express her determination and commitment to dream fulfillment. I applaud her on this work of literary art and hope it inspires today's generation and those to come in pursuing their highest goals in life." - Marcellene Watson-Derbigny, PhD, Associate Vice President, Student Retention and Academic Success, California State University, Sacramento"You have focused on understanding feelings as a way of understanding and appreciating "self," but also using this understanding as a way to direct oneself toward more gratifying career choices and empowering oneself to make smarter choices over one's career life. This is particularly challenging in the complex and diverse world you have described. I agree that it is valuable to focus on feelings as they are indicators of basic responses to environment and circumstances in the environment. This is the basic "approach/avoidance" instinct we are born with, but often ignored due to our social learning...to get a job and support yourself and endure the conditions simply because you need to work. Employers would do well to learn from your work as they often are instrumental in creating the work environment." - Al Striplen, MA, Healing Arts, Native American Counselor & Spiritual Guide
Denny Goetz's poetry is a portrait of a man seeking answers in the face of failure, loss and mortality. While intimate and personal in detail, it is also universal in addressing the vagaries of life, love and death. He writes of the pain and heartbreak of love lost, as well as of the consolation and joy of love found. He celebrates the delights life offers us, despite the inevitability of change and an end to all things. Moving and splendidly accessible, it is poetry you may find yourself returning to again and again. Magpie is a generous gift. At too early an age, Denny Goetz experienced life's perils, personal and historic. This shaped neither a man of pessimism nor gloom, but one of decency and kindness; and though none of us is protected from sadness and illness, Denny's poems offer-up a bounty of courage, affection and tenderness. Take time with this collection, and just maybe, we all can learn to share his love. - Richard D. Pepperman, Author of "Illuminations, Memorable Movie Moments", Finalist for the 2011 Best Moving Image Book Award
