કાલો - ધ નૂર ઓફ કુલભાટા નવલકથા રાજસ્થાનના રણમાં વસેલા કુલભાટા ગામની છે, જ્યાં કાલો નામની ખૂબજ ભયાનક ડાકણ થઈ ગઈ, તેની વાસ્તવિકતાની જુબાની આ કહાની છે. નવલકથાની શરૂઆત કાલો નામની ડાકણ દ્વારા જે કુંવારી કન્યાઓની બલી ચડાવવામાં આવતી હતી, ત્યાંથી લઈને કરવામાં આવી છે. ત્યારબાદ તાંત્રિક દ્વારા આ ડાકણને મારીને કેદ કરવામાં આવે છે પણ અમુક સમય બાદ ગામનો એક યુવાન આ ડાકણને ફરી આઝાદ કરી દે છે. ત્યારબાદ કાલો ડાકણ તે યુવાનને વશમાં કરીને ગામમાં તેનો આતંક ફેલાવે છે. ત્યાંથી વાર્તા પાછી ભૂતકાળમાં જાય છે અને કાલો ડાકણ બનેલી ચંદાના જન્મથી લઈને ડાકણ બની ત્યાં સુધીના સફરની સેર કરાવે છે. ત્યારબાદ ફરી વાર્તા ત્યાં આવે છે જ્યાંથી ગામનો યુવાન રુહાન કાલો ડાકણના વશમાં થયો હતો. કાલો ડાકણ અંતમાં એક યુવતીની બલી આપી રુહાન સાથે લગ્ન કરવા માગતી હતી પણ ગામના એક માણસને કાલોની વાસ્તવિકતા ખબર પડી જાય છે અને તે રુહાનને કાલો ડાકણની હકીકતથી વાકેફ કરે છે. ત્યારબાદ એક ચાલ રમવામાં આવે છે અને કાલો ડાકણને હંમેશાં હંમેશાં માટે કુલભાટાગામની અંદર કેદ કરી દેવામાં આવે છે.

She survives her attempt but soon realises that she's seeing beings that do not belong to her reality.Lihini confides in Dr. Nirved who assures her that the beings she sees are real. He explains that the terrifying creatures of folklore exist among humans and that she has gained the ability to see beyond their human disguises.Surprised by her lack of fear towards this knowledge and the creatures she has seen, Nirved offers Lihini a deal. She is to use her vision and courage to help him get rid of some inhuman beings in his ancestral house and he will provide everything Lihini needs to start a new life away from her toxic family.Lihini accepts the deal and travels with Nirved to his rural estate, where he introduces her to the servants as his fiance, much to the chagrin of the head maid.
