This book is for you. May my story give you encouragement and hope as you travel your own journey as a caregiver. Many of us travel this path more than once. There is nothing easy about it. Even on a good day, it's hard. But it is easier when there's a lifetime of loving relationships and good memories before the long-term illness. I was able to thrive because each person blessed my life before the caregiving journey. My story, written as poetry is a record of my spiritual evolution.

Born in Tarapoto, on the fringes of the Amazon Rainforest, Gregorio Delgado did not see a car or make a telephone call until going to high school in Lima. Influenced by this father, whose life was dedicated to the ailing in rural Peru, he chose a career in medicine and studied at the medical school in Trujillo. With the influence of Project Hope, he traveled to the United States to begin his training in Buffalo, New York. Electing to specialize in female cancer, Gregorio Delgado progressed to teach and practice at the nation's leading medical schools and hospitals. By his retirement, he had earned a reputation as one of the world's leading specialists in this branch of cancer surgery. In Trails from Tarapoto, Delgado recalls his childhood days when small town living was simple and walking was a way of life. His intriguing biography focuses on the human side of cancer surgery, based on personal experiences in and outside the operating room-the cathedral of learning. Early on, schools should create for all students an exciting exposure to the field of science. A collection of motivational beginning experiments have been compiled by the author primarily from the Oil companies School (Libya) and edited for children between the ages of 8 to 15. These beginning experiments successfully cover major units found in most school science textbooks and can be performed for little or no costs. They all have been tested and ranked from easy to hard by science teachers (note page 72). These beginning "hands-on" science experiments should be performed to illustrate a principle or to teach a point! The student, when possible, should be led to see the result without being told. I believe their natural curiosity drives them to learn, follow their own interests with passion and work with commitment on their own learning. You might say, "It opens their minds," by use of the inquiry method and they learn primarily from the work they do and not necessarily from others. However, experiments should never be performed just to say, "Of course we do experiments with all our lessons." The experiments presented in this collection are neither complete nor all inclusive, but should be used as a teacher/student supplement (companion piece) to any selected school text(s), charter school, or home study materials that are being used. It is the story of his search of identity, meaning, and balance with both his Western and Native values. His young wife, Luvenia and their infant son figure prominently as he tries to do the right thing for them. In Book Three, familiar characters return having a place in Paulie's story: Dan Walkin from Book One, Beth Morrison from Book Two, and Big Man all have a part in Paulie's growth.

This book has been a work in progress since the 1908s when our older family members were telling wonderful stories about our family history. With several classes, conferences and societies, the "how to" began to form a framework for his book. There are always good intentions in anticipation of each location, but sadly these soon fall apart as BB has a way of finding mayhem and misunderstandings in any time zone.
