Amitabh Bachchan is a superstar in the truest sense of the word. His name and face have taken over the hearts of minds of people around the world for almost 50 years. This book is the story of hope and survival against all odds. Masterfully using a unique compilation of articles published in newspapers at the time, this book attempts to chronicle the incident as it unfolded each day when disaster befell him in 1982. Taking the reader on a journey through the two months when Amitabh Bachchan was in hospital fighting for his life. It explores the effect the incident had on the entire nation as they waited, prayed and came together, united in the hope that he would survive. And survive he did. Fans around the world still talk about this miracle. The book is full of interesting anecdotes, quotes, and rumors that were rife at the time of the incident and provides an engaging insight into the superstar's private persona. It also explores Amitabh's later struggles and his ultimate return to glory in this comprehensive and loving retelling of the major events of his life to date. It highlights how news was reported in the eighties in India, and the restrained approach to reporting compared to the desensitized, sensationalist tone news has acquired today. That aspect alone makes for an interesting read. The author, smitten with the charismatic artiste, cut and pasted each article published about the incident into a small, little notebook as it happened. It is her desire now to be able to take this news to the Indian diaspora, with the belief that it will be able to provide courage and hope for people whose families are in similar situations. Resonating a message to never give up hope because against all odds, a person still has their inner will power and the Supremo's wish - "The one who wants to help you is always stronger than the one who wants to destroy you. If God has decided to save you, nothing can harm you." "Jaako raakhe saainyan, maar sake na koi"

"With tenderness and with a true poet's eye, Gaetano Aiello brings the streets and parklands and beaches of his native Adelaide to shimmering, sometimes phantasmagorical life. The title poem, 'The Underside of Bark,' is a meditation - gripping, hallucinatory, profound - on Australian and South Australian identity, a true dreaming." - JM Coetzee
The book, without using beliefs or constructs, logically delineates both a non-material 'who' and a material 'what' you are, used to establish your personal identity.
We all know Grandparents are Special but through the eyes of Frankie & Phil they are Superhuman, Heros, Talented and Loved. Frankie & Phil take you on a humorous journey of their perception of how awesome they see their grandparent.
The Vietnam War and the act of conscription irrevocably change the lives of four teenage Australians.John Mitchell, a bespectacled bass guitarist from Melbourne with a fatalistic notion of becoming an Anzac like his emotionally fragile father and grandfather before him becomes mates with two very different characters he meets in the army who he would never have otherwise crossed paths with. Trevor "Chubby" Jackson, the apparent heir to an outback West Australian cattle station and Hedley Yangaboora, an Indigenous stockman from the same property. All three are caught up in one particularly debilitating 'friendly fire' incident in Vietnam from which only the least likely character, Hedley, manages to get his post-war life back in order. The fourth character, Frankie Jamieson, is an unrelentingly positive individual who others tend to lean on. She struggles to maintain her studies at Melbourne University while singing in a pop duo with her childhood friend Cindy Fong, granddaughter of a Chinese pear orchardist. Frankie is drawn into the protest movement. The story explores the teenage years of all the characters leading up to the boy's names being drawn from the infamous televised spinning barrel. John and Frankie's independent journeys through the band scene of 60's Melbourne, Hedley's battles with ingrained racism and dislocation and Chub's grappling with the complexities of trying to learn how to run an outback cattle station in the 1967 referendum era when unpaid Indigenous labour came to an end.Frankie's story unfolds in stark parallel contrast with the other characters as they negotiate Infantry training in their very different ways. Through Frankie, the reader experiences the street marches and eventual Police raid on Melbourne Uni's Union Building. She quits the pop duo but not her friend Cindy and becomes a protest singer around the pubs and clubs of 1970's Melbourne. Her love affair with Jack, a draft resister being supported by his union, leads to marriage and eventual tragedy. The incident in Vietnam infuses a dark uncertainty that hangs in the background of the story until the end. Hedley loses his right arm in friendly fire and both John and the reader believe John fired the shot. John keeps this to himself. After the boys are unceremoniously discharged they try to come to terms with what they have been through and grapple with 'normality' again. In later life Frankie meets John and they discover their past band connections. This is no 'senior romance,' more social worker and desperate gutter dweller. Frankie facilitates a reunion of the veterans on Hedley's cattle station. If there is a single hero in this story it is Hedley but he takes his time coming to the forefront. Once there he is unstoppable, an inspirational voice leading through extreme adversity. It is his casual revelation to John at the reunion that puts to rest the lingering mystery from the Vietnam incident and makes a mockery of lost lives.

He has Leo in his sights and one mistake could send Leo home in disgrace.Though Rose is drawn to shy Leo, she is fiercely protective of her newfound freedom and has no wish for any serious entanglement. The more time she spends with Leo, the more her heart may betray her head. Leo finds he can't tell Rose about some of the monstrous and unforgiveable things he's witnessed in the theatre of war. When he learns of the tragic loss of his brother, Oskar, it is in Rose's arms he feels the most comfort.Rose's coveted position finally brings her to France, where she is confronted by the immense suffering of the soldiers and the fragility of life. John Williams has arrived at his holiday cottage in 'Paradise' for a few weeks of rest and relaxation. Paradise is the name given to this narrow tract of land along a remote peninsular in East Gippsland. During the late 1800s the area was previously the domain of a reclusive religious commune and other than John, most of the handful of shacks there are owned by people related to the original family. The little community, like John, only reside there during their holidays. On this occasion John's usual peaceful time in Paradise is marred by a series of regrettable events. As well, there are rumors about that the area is to be compulsorily acquired by the government. He senses that something fishy is going on. Strange happenings begin to occur in the night, however no one other than John, admits to noticing anything untoward. One day John is confronted by a mysterious aborigine who warns him there is a curse on the land and that he should sell up and leave before harm comes to him and the others in Paradise. John is determined to get to the bottom of all these matters, but when he eventually finds the truth, he discovers it would have been better to have lived in ignorance.

Dennis O'Brien is a Mechanical Engineer who was a senior director in an Australian consulting practice with branch offices in various locations around the world. He worked in many of these locations on major projects. While this was happening, he suffered from a rare disease caused by a tumour on the pituitary gland. Like many rare diseases this remained undiagnosed for years and had a major impact on his health. This included extensive time in hospital, a period of major psychosis and the amputation of his leg. The challenges of his profession were a key part in maintaining his enthusiasm despite his illness. This book recalls his experiences from his early years as very much a working-class boy through his education and employment in the engineering profession. In recent times he has taken up a role on the board of the Australian Pituitary Foundation which provides support to sufferers of pituitary conditions, education for medical staff and funds research into the diseases, all of which are rare. Proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to the Australian Pituitary Foundation.

Phoenicians are amazing. Sea farers, artisans and entrepreneurs from Lebanon around 1000 BCE, they had bit parts in the Bible, Homer and Egyptian and Roman history then pop out of ancient books on great adventures, spreading trade and ideas across the Mediterranean and contributing to the development of global civilisation. They had an impact on humanity that we still benefit from, and learn from, today. We also explore their dark side: slavery, child sacrifice and institutional prostitution. This book is unlike any other: it is an epic poem, a travel guide, a history book, a self-help manual, an auto-biographical memoir and a speculative political essay. It is told in 54 sonnets with footnotes, maps and illustrations guiding the reader through Phoenician history and culture, along their trading routes from China to the Baltic and into the origins of the alphabet, art, religion, philosophy, science, democracy and the colour purple plus much more. It's educational, mind-expanding and fun.
In this Guidebook, Sophia Ovidne seeks to explain and further expand upon the foundational metaphysical tenets of Book One of the Training Manual for Gods series, which she has channelled from the Ascended Master, Chiron. Yet, Sophia's and Chiron's books are quite different from one another, even while targeting similar topics, with Sophia adding appropriate material taught to her by many Masters over the past decades. This book describes the invisible dimensions that our consciousness can find itself in, and the beings we might discover there, and is laid out in a structured and easy-to-read format. What is the nature of consciousness? How does it operate, both in the human world and the unseen universe beyond? The hidden realms of consciousness are delved into, and that which exists beyond our current understanding of mind and matter. What can our consciousness do there? What is the structure of the universe, and who are its inhabitants such as our soul, the gods, angels, ghosts, aliens? How can we connect with these invisible beings? Where do they live, and what kind of life do they lead? How can our consciousness astral travel to visit these hidden places? Where are Heaven and Hell? What happens when we die? What are the reasons why our life might be ended? Can we reincarnate, and have we had past lives? The main mission for humans at this present time is to evolve our human consciousness into god consciousness and to live as gods. How do we do this? What is expected of us? How can we discover and design our rightful destiny? How can we learn to manifest things and heal like the gods? The magical tools of our consciousness are explained in detail. Our planet, too, is being prepared to shift into a new dimension. What will the future hold for us all, as humans, and when we have wings? This book will bring to light all these secrets and more, and help you through the maze of consciousness and into the amazing unseen universe.

This is the second book in the series, Training Manual for Gods, which has been channelled by Sophia Ovidne from the Ascended Master Chiron who speaks to us from an unseen higher dimension. Our human consciousness is undergoing massive transformation, and all our perceptions of our current world will alter likewise. We are arriving in a new dimension of consciousness and reality, which Chiron terms Second Earth. It is a higher vibrational planet that mirrors our present First Earth, where we will still inhabit our physical forms but where we are learning how to let go of our humanness and ultimately become gods. Chiron describes the events that are moving human consciousness into this new dimension where all will live with god consciousness. Not all humans will make it there. The two Earth dimensions are currently moving away from one another, culminating in a Final Shift that will split them permanently. How will this Final Shift come about, and how can we humans prepare for it? What will happen to those who don't arrive on Second Earth and who choose to stay on First Earth? Divine gods will arrive on Second Earth too, coming down from higher dimensions. They will guide and teach humans-turned-gods how to build a new god society. What will it be like to live on Second Earth, having arrived as a human-turned-god or a divine god? This new world operates with the laws of quantum physics rather than classical physics, so what will we be experiencing? Many humans will arrive on Second Earth with little understanding of what has occurred for them and around them. Chiron explains how to prepare for the transition of their human consciousness in the final years before the Final Shift, and what faces them in the preliminary phase upon their arrival on the higher dimensional Second Earth. Second Earth is a true school for gods, and all will learn about their spirit, soul, Light Body, astral travel, manifestation, the new concept of no time, and all the other strange constructs of living in a higher dimension.
