Alfie is thrilled when a brontosaurus named Oliver shows up at his kitchen window asking for a nibble of the veggie sandwich that Alfie's mom has made for lunch-he's never met a real, live dinosaur before. But Alfie is even more overjoyed to help Oliver the brontosaurus with another request: the dinosaur needs a day job. Alfie immediately springs into action, lending Oliver one of his dad's business suits and helping the brontosaurus try out all sorts of occupations like museum exhibit actor, grocery shelf stocker, and giraffe impersonator at the zoo. But all of Alfie's ideas seem to end in disaster, and he soon learns that it's not so easy to find the perfect job for a giant purple dinosaur. Will Alfie be able to uncover Oliver's hidden talent and help him find the job of his dreams? One thing is for sure: Oliver won't stop looking until he's found it, because a dinosaur doesn't give up.
Journal is a slightly fictionalized autobiography based on a series of the author's real-life dreams - about life, love, family, death, and an unexpected journey across time and tide. "I'm in bed, staring at the ceiling, just lucid enough to ponder on the thought that I'm 60 years old, and I've been having this same dream as long as I can remember. It's always the same, always ending right when I reach for the doorknob...except this time; all of a sudden, I'm allowed into the room."
