This book traces the path of a young man born immediately after the Second World War and classified throughout the world as a Baby Boomer. Brian was a borderline failure at school but worshipped the outdoors and in particular his close mates - these attributes served him well when he was unexpectedly drafted into a two year National Service Scheme created to meet the demands of the Vietnam war. Brian served a thirteen month tour of Vietnam as an Infantry Platoon Commander with an Australian Infantry Battalion and spent forty weeks of his tour in the field - his life was threatened on many occasions but he came out of Vietnam with a greater understanding of his own strengths and weaknesses and a full understanding of the Australian psyche - the friends he made in Vietnam remain his friends today. Brian also was able to take his family on postings to Darwin, Hong Kong and Brunei which strengthened his children's knowledge of a much bigger world and gave them an insight into the riches we share in Australia. Brian used his military knowledge and background to help him raise funds for his local surf club and restore the presence and dignity of a local RSL - a tough life but not an unhappy one.
This book is presented as a unique means of tracing Biblical history, counsel, and life challenges, highlighting their spiritual significance for today. The reader is taken on a journey from Genesis to Revelation as the entire scope of the major themes of the Old and New Testaments are encountered. The poems introduce, in turn, the Bible's main characters and their stories, their messages, related events, and their impact on daily life.A brief commentary relating to textual information introduces each poem, so they can be used as a guide to Bible study, both personal or in small group settings.THE PSALMS relate to the original modes of Hebrew poetry but here transposed into the rhyme and rhythms of modern poetic genres.THE SONGS have been drawn from selected Scriptural prose which is of such depth, meaning, and current value, that its theme resonates in the soul. All the poems are supplied with a suggested traditional hymn tune so that they may be sung in a Church setting, for example, to support the Biblical theme of the day.
Never AloneNever alone with the feelings you have only alone when you hide them deep inside. Never alone with the fears you face only alone when you don't face your fears to it.Never alone when you want to cry only sad when those tears don't dry.Nover alone when you think to yourself detrimental if those thoughts you oppress.Next time you begin to feel isolated, scared, or in disbelief, know that others and I share these thoughts you think.Walk by yourself, but realize you are never alone.

Typhoons, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, maniacal mountain bus rides, exploring the depths of the ocean in tumultuous currents, all hint at the veracity of the title of this book, culminating in the event that left the author paralyzed below the waist - but only temporarily, so that's OK. Turning adversity to advantage, the subsequent restrictions on his lifestyle resulted in a series of books enriched with his typical sense of humour.

The story mainly concentrates on China's attitude towards Human Rights and that country's lack of respect for life generally. The book covers what happened in the Hong Kong riots and the manipulation by authorities to ensure they could crush any resistance without the implication of using heavy-handed tactics or that they lacked concern for Human Rights. It covers the mental scars that many were left with after being forced to flee Hong Kong to ensure they were not locked up in jail for life on false or illegitimate charges, and the ramifications their actions had on their families, left behind in mainland China. It describes the lengths the authorities would go to eliminate religion in China and God's infliction of curses on China's people as a punishment for their lack of faith in Him. It raises human rights issues in China, and the attempts made to replace the worship of God with the worship of those in authority, who believe they are Gods. Many who protested in Hong Kong had to flee that country, to prevent being persecuted by the authorities. Their actions, unfortunately, had dramatic repercussions for their families left behind in China. Many ended up with depression and the book tries to address this topic from both medical and religious points of view. The religious doctrines covered in the book are depression and the act of killing or taking a life, especially during wars. The book covers China's buildup of its military strength its invasion of countries in the Pacific and Taiwan and its control of the Pacific Region. It concludes with China being taken to the International Human Rights Commission and God finally resolving the conflict between himself and those that would be God, making it clear who has the power and who is really in control.

While working women have achieved much, the issues of the right to work, equal opportunities and rewards, healthy work environment, unionisation and, in particular, the problems of 'the double working life' are still very much alive. In Women at Work Kaye Hargreaves examines the crucial issues, many of them forcefully articulated in workers' own lively accounts. She shows that the dramatically increased participation of women in Australia 's paid workforce constitutes a major challenge to organisation in the workplace and to traditional attitudes about women's role in the society at large. The difficulties in the relationship between women's movement and the labour movement will be resolved only as women workers develop new forms of organisation which reach beyond the conventional confines of unionism to change fundamental social relationships. Women at Work also documents the emergence of this process during the past decade and points to directions for its further development.
