This is not a book about artworks, although they are at its essence. Rather it is about story. Art inevitably speaks something of the artist's heart, and in Unveiled, you will find the artist's heart revealed in deep, personal and sometimes extremely vulnerable ways. While this may feel a little uncomfortable, their encounters with Jesus through pain, struggles, and the storms of life are both an encouragement and an invitation. They are a reassuring reminder to each of us of God's faithfulness and ultimate goodness. Invitationally, these artists provide us with an opportunity to connect with Jesus in our own struggles, pain, loss and grief and to discover true freedom. Contributors include Jessyca Armbrister, Louise Evans, Claudia Goltsos, Debra Howlett, Julie Kelly, Wendy Manzo, Dianne Mollison, Mikayla Ragsdale, Cathy Scott, Ivan Smith, Danielle Steckis and Julie Strack.
This is not a book full of answers and proofs of a set position either theologically or socially. It is, however, a book to prompt those questions we often fail to ask; a place where those aspects of faith and culture we take for granted as truth, or have been told are truth, get opened up for discussion and examination to determine whether they actually stand up to close scrutiny. In an era where so much of what we have believed as truth or culturally acceptable seems to have been overthrown for something new and progressive, and there are so many voices shouting that their way is the right way it is vitally important that we reassess our foundations. Are we standing on what we think we are, and are they actually stable or sufficient for the way ahead? This book raises many of those questions to help open us up for conversation and greater understanding and certainty around what we do believe is truth and, more importantly, why we believe it is truth.
