The stories in this book are based on nine encounters people had with Jesus, as described in the Gospels; as well as a sketch portraying Jesus' attitude to children. The author has woven an imagined narrative around each of the characters to give as accurate a picture as possible of their way of life and practice of religion in first century A.D. Israel; to help the reader appreciate how their lifestyle, disabilities and illnesses would have affected them and the difference it must have made when they experienced Jesus' love and compassion. In the actual meeting with Jesus, the author has kept as closely as possible to the original narrative of the Gospel writers. The two poems at the end are a further example of the author's perception of the nature of Jesus' love and compassion for mankind. Christine Ginsbury grew up in a Christian environment and is the daughter of a pastor. However, having studied Theology at a liberal university, she lost her way spiritually until she experienced an epiphany when she was thirty-five that caused her to recommit her life to Christ. It is her love for Jesus and his great compassion for everyone, as exemplified in the Gospel miracles, that inspired her to write this book. She retired from teaching Special Needs in 2011 and now lives in Surrey with her husband, David, and their two dogs, Laycie and Skip.
"I applaud Myra for her effort to foster interest in the Bible because that is also my job at Museum of the Bible." - Harry Hargrave, CEO, Museum of the Bible, Washington, D.C. "Myra's Townhall.com Bible study series explaining the Bible to unfamiliar readers is frequently among the most-read columns on RealClearReligion." - Chandler Lasch, editor, RealClearReligion.org The title "Bible Study For Those Who Don't Read the Bible" explains the book's content and purpose. Myra Kahn Adams, who writes a Sunday Bible study series at Townhall.com - a popular, political news site - was encouraged by readers to compile her lessons into this book. Each "Quick, Compelling Bible Study" stands alone, allowing readers to browse topics of interest. Lessons are equally divided between the Old and New Testaments while emphasizing how the New fulfills the Old. The studies are written from Myra's perspective, born and raised Jewish but with no "faith." Then, at age 20, Christ came to her, and she had no choice but to follow Him. The lessons are geared to those who - like Myra - came of age knowing nothing about the Bible. Myra Kahn Adams is a media producer and conservative political and religious writer with numerous national credits on such sites as The Hill, RealClearPolitics, Townhall and National Review. She is also Executive Director of SignFromGod.org, a ministry dedicated to education about the Shroud of Turin. Myra's religious perspective is Jewish by birth, but she embraced Christ in 1975. Over four decades later, her faith journey encompassing Messianic Judaism, mainline Protestantism, Evangelical Christianity, and Catholicism led to writing a weekly Bible study. A Jewish rabbi named Jesus Christ is the "star" of these Bible studies.
When Hezekiah is about to be killed by a hellish creature, Jesus saves him at the last moment to carry out a special mission. The City of Sodom faces destruction, yet Jesus is unable to intervene to save them as they lack faith and belief in Him. Still, the Son of God refuses to let them die without a fight; thus, He chooses Hezekiah to go in His stead as His Spirit Warrior to tell the people of God's salvation. This mission is no easy task, though, as Hezekiah faces abhorrent citizens who refuse to open their hearts to God's message and evil angels with a legion of demons are ready to strike. Will this new Spirit Warrior be able to survive the dark forces he faces and bring God's people back to Him? Find out in Wayman Jackson's The Sword of the Spirit: City on the Brink. In remembrance of Christ's suffering, Winning Over Whatever: the Ultimate Wow Factor features 39 testimonials of victory over life's challenges; one for each stripe scholars believe that Jesus Christ bore as punishment for His claims to be the Son of God. Beaten and tortured before He was nailed to a cross to die, Jesus was scourged by Roman soldiers with an instrument created for the sole purpose of tearing apart human flesh. He chose to bear this burden, taking on the sins and griefs of the world in this ultimate sacrifice, all because of His love for humanity. In each testimony, you will read various accounts from people who experienced bleak, unfavorable, seemingly hopeless, and even tragic circumstances in their lives. However, through God's divine intervention, faith, and trust in His power to supernaturally change their situation, they each emerged from their personal battles victoriously. Disease, depression, trauma, poverty, lack, and even death itself, are no match for our all powerful God. Immerse yourself in these stories to witness the benefit of having faith in God because God's power is the ultimate WOW factor! The daughter of retired pastors, Melody T. I was inspired to write this book due to the injustices, inequalities and inequities in the great nation of America. History has proven that it is a fact that these injustices do exist. In the years 2017-2022, it has been prevalent throughout the nation and still exists to this day. Racism and hatred are at an all-time high and the country has been divided by toxic rhetoric and politics. It seems like "We the People" can't agree on anything. Also, the overwhelming grief I felt over the loss of my two children. As a Christian, I can't understand those that claim to be Christians participating in the hatred. Those that claim to be "Christ-like" but are hating those that disagree with their political beliefs. It caused me to ask the question "What's going on?" I named the book "The Fallen Petals" because people are dying every day because of hate. Linda Lawson was born in Blairs, Virginia in 1953 on a tobacco farm. Her family moved from Virginia to New Jersey in 1958 in the dead of winter with no place to go. Linda's father sought work in Pedericktown on a farm. Her family then moved to Mullica Hill, and Linda lived there until she graduated high school in 1972 and married that same year. To that union, six children were born but Linda is the mother of eight. The Bible says, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but God delivers them out of them all." Linda was inspired to write this book because of the awful things that were happening in our great nation starting in 2017. Linda's website is www.hearttopaper.com
How often do you express your love for God? Showing love for God is something we give very little thought to doing. If we were to think about how to show love for God, we may become lost for any ideas to show our love. In this book I list fifty simple everyday ways to not only honor God but show your love for him. You will find these ways easy to apply and easy to teach to your children or share with family and friends. I may be the least qualified person to write a book for God. this book is proof God can use anyone to get his message out to the world. I was away from the church for over 35 years before he called me back to his house. when I returned to the church the Lord prompted me to start writing first sermons then books then finally a screenplay. When I sit to write at my keyboard, I can feel him near and his words in my ear. as a very simple person I wrote this book to be a simple easy book for people of all ages and to bring honor and glory to God.
Brothers and sisters, this book will help you understand what it truly means to feed your soul to keep it alive. It will help you see that this can only be done by eating the Bread of Life, (reading God's Word). Just like you need to feed your body food each day, you also need to feed your soul, His word, the Bread of Life. Jesus states in the Book of John, (John 6:53-58) that we must eat of His flesh and drink of His blood to receive eternal life. John 6:53-58 53 So Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. 54 But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever. At the age of thirty-four, I experienced firsthand of what it felt like to go without eating the Bread of Life. I was put in a situation where I could only read His word. When I stopped, I felt my soul dying to the strong desire (hunger) of needing His word. Because I had read it before, the Holy Spirit trained my soul of where to eat from after my soul started dying from hunger due to different challenges and tragedies I faced in my life. You see brothers and sisters, challenges, struggles, and tragedies can all turn you away from the Bread of Life. As I began reading again, my soul was revived. I felt His nourishment and power come over my soul. Brothers and Sisters you will not survive this life if you don't eat the Bread of Life as shared throughout this small devotional that I have put together for you. It is truly a life changer. Matthew: 4:4 (NLT) 4 But Jesus told him, "No! The Scriptures say, 'People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'
Spiritual life is a challenge. There are perceived impossible demands and expectations that weigh heavily on the Christian believer. Moving from who we are to who God wants us to be and from where we are to where he needs us to be is a challenging journey. That journey is made easier when the believer understands that he (God) places his Spirit in us at salvation, and that Spirit transforms us into someone that God can use to advance his kingdom. Empowered to Make a Difference by Les Tripp traces the work of the Holy Spirit from salvation to commitment and on to a deeper life. Tripp developed a passion for seeing believers break free from the mistaken belief that serving the Lord is something they must do in their own wisdom and strength. They fail to understand the power that is available to transform their lives and empower them to become productive members of God's family. That power comes by changing their perspective from "being in Christ" to having "Christ in me." Tripp describes the work of the Spirit in disciple-making and how the Spirit empowers us build the kingdom of God and make a difference in the lives of others. My biological Dad was executed on death row, so he spent most of my childhood in prison. I was pregnant at the age of 14 and gave birth at 15. My son's father spent most of my son's childhood in prison. Most of the men in my family and my neighborhood went to prison. As a young single parent I asked God to help me with my son. God saved me and instructed me to teach my son lessons to help his life. My son is now a graduate of the ITT Technical Institute with a great job. I have never even had to pick my son up from the police station. I give God all of the glory and honor! I also want to share these lessons with other youth!
