Freed from prison after spending four years there for a crime he didn't commit, David Lincoln decides to leave Boston and head west for a new life. While in Independence, Missouri, he saves the virtue of a young woman who employs him as a bodyguard but they soon develop feelings for each other. Frieda Worth wants to fulfill her dream of building a girls' school in the West and on her way to New Haven, runs into some trouble. When David saves her, she finds herself falling in love with him.
