Athough Sir Uvedale Price (1747-1829) is chiefly remembered for his defence of the picturesque style of landscape gardening, he was also concerned with how modern speakers 'injure' ancient Greek and Latin texts through errors in pronunciation, as expressed in this 1827 publication, praised by Wordsworth as 'most ingenious'.
