Avalia's Magical World - Chao Yang - Bog

Avalia, a homeless girl of ten, finds shelter from a rainstorm in a secret cave amid a desolate urban setting, where she is whisked away to a wondrous world alive with mystical animals. She learns about her newfound magical skills while navigating the delights and perils of this new world, which include anything from poisonous snakes to towering giants, but she has a hard time keeping them under control and frequently causes unintentional mayhem as a result. As time goes on, she earns the respect of a group of little people by protecting them from a malicious spirit. Avalia's magical abilities improve throughout the years, but she doesn't really master them until she meets a wise dragon. With her newly honed magical skills, Avalia has been able to protect the people of her adoptive home from a variety of lesser bad spirits, earning her a reputation as an up-and-coming guardian. She realizes that an even larger confrontation with the ultimate evil is on the horizon, so she starts to forge allies in anticipation of this showdown.
