Tales of strange apparitions, hauntings and eerie noises had circulated for years among the work force at Old Castle Works, some of the employees had actually left because of such events, when Peter Jackson was appointed works engineer in 1984. A man not given to hearing "things that go bump in the night," he set out to conduct his own painstaking investigations of these seemingly supernatural events.
