India is not a mere geographical expres¬sion nor a mere congeries of people, who happen to be on this particular part of the Earth's surface, but who might as well have been elsewhere. India is an Idea. It is a particular Shakti, the Bharata Shakti, distinguished from all others by Her own peculiar nature and qualities. No home is a truly Indian Home, which is not Her expression. The basis of all culture and the maker of all nationality is Religion.
