SIT AND STAY FOR THIS YUMMY DOGGY TREAT!It's a perfect job for the right person in the wrong place: she's a cat lady and her name's even Cat-- yet here she is, working for cable station KDOG in a place called Barkview, the dog-friendliest town in America.Worse, she's just become the babysitter and bodyguard of a 60-pound attack dog named Gem, who thinks she's the bodyguard.Until her owner was shot with a poison dart, poor Gem was the beloved pet of Barkview's toniest jeweler and his wife. But now Ariana, the widow, has to go into protective custody- it seems she and her husband were in the witness protection program. So she begs Cat to take charge of her baby till the murder's solved, knowing full well that Cat is going to solve the murder and Gem will help her: she can identify the murderer.Sadly, the murderer shot Gem too- though only with a tranquilizer, enabling them to wreck the jewelry store, apparently in search of the one missing item- a priceless yellow diamond on loan for a jewelry exhibit. As it happens, the loan was arranged by the former mayor, whose relentless pursuit of Barkview's very own missing treasure- also a fabulous yellow diamond- led to his wife's recent murder.Coincidence? Cat thinks not. And she runs with the big dogs in investigative circles.Cozy fans will fall in love with Barkview, reporter sleuth Cat, and overprotective Gem, as author Wilson weaves her clever way through this delightful small-town mystery, scattering verbal treats and comic gems that'll keep you chuckling.

A murderous memoir, a comical Corgi collaborator and a diamond to die forYou'd think the dog-friendliest town in America would be something like a furry Mayberry-- but only if you didn't know Barkview's darkest secret. Legend has it that a priceless artifact known as the Douglas Diamond is hidden somewhere in its environs. And recent history (as chronicled in other Barkview books) has shown that treasure-hunters are easily turned to....well, certainly not beasts. Barkview's beasts are beautifully behaved! It's the humans who can become first covetous, then mendacious, larcenous, and finally even murderous if the right bait is dangled. Many a treasure-hunter has thought the priceless treasure was low-hanging fruit ripe for the plucking. But despite countless efforts, people have died for it, and nobody's plucked it yet.Even with all the treasure-hunting and murder, the town's latest secret is even more dramatic- spying during World War Two. Spying that's just resulted in a new murder. Barkview's truly the town that has everything-at least for mystery fans, who'll be happily reminded of Josephine Tey's masterful DAUGHTER OF TIME as they watch the characters figure out what happened way back by piecing together historic events. They'll get a kick out of author Wilson's depiction of her intrepid reporter sleuth, who's not only in the awkward position of being the only cat person in Barkview, she's also unlucky enough to be named Cat. This time Cat gets roped into babysitting an adorable cuddly Corgi guaranteed to annoy her and delight the reader. But Winston, despite being cute as a blue-eyed pup and funny as a cat video, has Cat completely intimidated. Unfortunately, though, he finds her a bit difficult to train. But he gives it his best shot, finally teaching her not to trip over him. And when all's done and dusted, he even dons a tuxedo in her honor.Such a good boy!Needless to say, dog lovers will find this one a treat, as will all fans of gentle amusing cozies and mysteries. Dare we mention that cat people will too? If you like Neil Plakcy's golden retriever books, and Alex Kava's Ryder Creed series, you'll love Corgied To Death!

A CAT'S CRADLE OF CRIME, A DOODLE TO DIE FOR, AND A GEM OF A COZY...Two murders before lunch is a pretty bad day in anybody's schedule, but when your sister's a suspect, you just want to howl at the moon. Thankfully, that would hardly be noticeable in Barkview, the dog-friendliest town in America, where it's starting to look as if humans are the endangered species.Cat Wright (wrong name, wrong pet preference for Barkview) has barely had time to regret a good deed that just got punished when her younger sister Lani takes time out from performing mouth-to-mouth on an unconscious friend to give her an emergency call.First murder first-Cat's just learned she stirred up a dogfight when she nominated a distinguished female ancestor for the Aviation Hall of Fame. But here's the rub-nominees have to be investigated and as a result, Barkview's beloved hometown heroine now stands accused of the murder of a notorious rumrunner. To add more intrigue, Cat's ancestor's also accused of stealing the Douglas Diamond, the fabled lost treasure of Barkview, to finance her flying adventures. That's Page One news in this town and Cat feels terrible about accidentally tarnishing a hero's legacy. She's just read the headline when she gets the call from Lani, who in short order is accused of killing Peter Gallardo, her friend and prof who, Cat's starting to see, was probably Lani's boy friend as well. And wouldn't you know, Peter may have been one of many on a quest to find the famous gem.A regular cat's cradle of crime! But this is Barkview and so the co-star, as always in a Cat Wright mystery, is an irresistible pooch, in this case G-Paw, a fuzzy doofus of a golden doodle who'll keep you laughing chapter after chapter-and who just about converts Cat to the canine side.Add a few ancient diaries, plus Cat's persistent investigative style, and soon author Wilson's woven these seemingly disparate strands into a complex village puzzle mystery wrapped up (thanks mostly to G-Paw) in a comic confection inside a delicious contemporary cozy.Fans of animal cozies will love the mix of humor and intricate plotting-and they'll go nuts for G-Paw.

A REMOTE ISLAND, A MURDER,AND A HUSBAND IN CUFFS...In author Wilson's delectable new cozy, newly married Cat Wright finds herself honeymooning alone on a remote island while Russ, her shiny new husband, cools his heels in an Australian jail. Not the stuff dreams are made of. No sooner has the happy couple arrived on Canine Cay, by all reports the perfect honeymoon hideaway, than their pilot, an old buddy of Russ's, is summarily whacked. Then Russ is arrested and whisked off to lockup on the mainland while Cat's left to find the real killer herself.A former reporter, she detects with her usual dogged determination, adorably assisted by Lizzie, the victim's Australian shepherd and the most vivid of the series pooches so far. Cat has the eerie feeling Lizzie's smarter than she is, but then lots of people think that about Aussies. The thing is, Lizzie perfectly understands English; and can also read Cat's mind. It's not a Barkview mystery if the pup-du-jour doesn't upstage the humans, and also if said humans aren't busily engaged in chicanery-and often treasure hunts-involving priceless jewels. In this one, we get diamonds and pearls, the pearls being many, varied, and eminently desirable. (You may get a case of the covets.)Of course Cat could solve this one by herself, but she feels down under in more ways than one each time a plane lands that isn't carrying a newly-freed Russ. That is, until the Barkview cavalry arrives-meaning her quasi-uncle the police chief, her aunt the mayor, and Sandy, her own brilliant assistant. Now it's a party!Barkview fans will eat this one up like Australians eat vegemite, as will fans of Amy Vansant's Pineapple Port series, Neil Plakcy's Golden Retriever Mysteries, every breed of dog person, and cozy readers in search of a treat to go with their tea.

A tent full of knife-proficient suspects complicates everything. When Sandy's sister is accused of the crime, Cat Hawl is on the scent. The deeper she digs she realizes that the recipe itself leads to something far more valuable than the perfect holiday treat. With the help of two devilish Dachshunds, Cat must run with the big dogs to find a 1930's treasure before the prize is eaten by time.
