This collection reviews current advances in cellular agriculture, focussing primarily on the emerging research in cultured meat technology. The book considers the establishment of regulatory frameworks for cultured meat in the USA and Singapore and highlights the quality and sustainability issues which can arise as a result of its creation.

It's been suggested that around 12 million hectares of agricultural land are affected by soil erosion each year. If the degradation of the world's soil reservoir continues, many have estimated that this could lead to a 30% reduction in global food production by 2040. Understanding and preventing soil erosion provides a comprehensive overview of recent research on understanding the mechanisms of soil erosion, as well as the best practices for measuring, mapping and modelling soil erosion risk in agricultural soils. The book also considers the range of agronomic practices and techniques available to mitigate future soil erosion, including the use of crop residues, cover crops, buffer strips, soil stabilisers and zero/no-tillage. In its detailed assessment of soil erosion, the book succeeds in highlighting the potential future impact of degraded soils on the quality, security and longevity of our global food system if the problem of soil erosion isn't effectively managed. Edited by a world-renowned researcher in the field, the book will be a standard reference for researchers in soil and crop science, agricultural engineers, farmers, as well as government and other agencies monitoring the health of agricultural soils. Dr Manuel Seeger is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Geography in the School of Regional and Environmental Sciences at the University of Trier, Germany. He was formerly Associate Professor at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and Assistant Professor at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Dr Seeger is internationally known for his research on measuring, understanding and mitigating soil erosion, particularly for European soils. He has chaired sessions related to soil erosion, its measurement and modelling at a number of conferences, including those organised by the European Geosciences Union. Dr Seeger is also on the editorial boards of a number of journals and has participated in a number of EU research projects such as DiverFarming and FireLinks.

"Several books on different aspects of apple cultivation, including optimising quality attributes of the fruit, already exist. However, this new book edited by Professor Fabrizio Costa goes further than simply describing the quality attributes of apples. The contributing authors instead explore the practical results of the implementation of particular breeding and crop management practices to optimise fruit quality during the pre- and postharvest stages of production. Edited by an internationally-renowned expert on apple growth and ripening, I'm sure this book will be hugely successful." (Emeritus Professor Silviero Sansavini, University of Bologna, Italy) Apples are one of the most highly consumed fruits globally, with estimations that almost 88 million tonnes of apples are produced worldwide each year. As a result of this popularity, consumers have extremely high expectations of the sensory quality of the apples they consume.Improving the quality of apples provides a comprehensive review of the wealth of research on the processes which determine the key quality attributes of apples, including texture and nutritional content. The book addresses how these properties can be enhanced during the pre- and postharvest stages to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction, as well as the role of breeding programmes in identifying genes directly related to sensory quality characteristics. In its detailed exploration of the key quality attributes of apples, the book provides its readers with an insight into the science behind producing the 'perfect' product and how influential quality attributes are on consumer purchasing behaviours.Edited by an internationally-renowned researcher, Improving the quality of apples will be a standard reference for researchers in horticultural science, fruit growers, processors and retailers, as well as consumers, nutritionists and governmental and private sector agencies supporting the horticultural industry.Dr Fabrizio Costa is Associate Professor of Plant Genetics and Breeding in the Centre for Agriculture, Food and Environment (C3A) at the University of Trento, Italy. He was formerly a Senior Scientist at the Fondazione Edmund Mach where he was one of the team that published in 2010 the first complete sequenced genome of Golden Delicious, the well-known apple reference variety. Professor Costa is internationally renowned for his research on the genetics of fruit ripening and post-harvest quality. He is on the editorial boards of such journals as Fruit Research and the Journal of Experimental Botany, and is the Convenor of the 14th ISHS Symposium on Plant Regulators in Fruit Production in 2022.

Advances in agri-food robotics reviews the utilisation of agricultural robots to deal with increasing labour shortages in agriculture whilst bringing greater precision and efficiency into farming operations. The book addresses recent advances in agricultural robotic technologies and how these can be optimised to monitor and manage crop production more effectively, from phenotyping for improved varieties to harvesting the finished product. In its comprehensive exploration of the technologies available, the book provides farmers with the means necessary to invest - and trust - in agricultural robotics to improve the productivity and profitability of their farm.
