Groundwater is the world's largest source of fresh water, but its safe and sustainable exploitation remains a challenge. Egypt's Nile Valley aquifer is the most important renewable aquifer, accounting for approximately 85% of total groundwater use in Egypt. Egypt's long-term development and socioeconomic growth in the Nile Valley depends on this groundwater. Concerns about groundwater assessment, quality, management, and sustainability frame the current status of Nile Valley groundwater supplies. Proper knowledge of the current state of the groundwater quantity and quality in the Nile Valley is vital for the development and management of groundwater resources in Egypt. Due to Egypt's water scarcity, the projected decline in Nile River flow due to climate change, and the development of numerous Nile River basin projects, the situation is critical, and the consequences might be severe. Furthermore, Egypt's growing population puts significant strain on groundwater, which is the second most significant freshwater supply next to the surface water supply coming from the Nile River as Egypt's share. Several books on the various aspects of Egypt's water resources have been published, but there is insufficient recent information on groundwater in the Nile Valley aquifer, which is essential for Egyptian populations for domestic and irrigation purposes. As a result, this book on the groundwater in the Nile Valley aquifer emerges to complete the picture of Egypt's water resources as a good example of arid country located in MENA regions with many arid countries. Consequently, the lessons learned from this book could be beneficial to other countries in MENA regions, particularly those in North Africa.

The Arab Republic of Egypt enjoys a vital strategic location. Its northern border is the Mediterranean Sea, and its eastern border is the Red Sea, which give it a special significance from the bio-diversity point of view as a coastal zone, and as a sensitively diversified ecosystem. The shoreline of the Arab Republic of Egypt is about 3,000 km long. It is about 1,150 km long on the Mediterranean and about 1,850 km long on the Red Sea, which are connected by the Suez Canal, which is about 193.30 km in length. The three water masses are different ecologically and are experiencing wide range of pressures due to, eutrophication, coastal development, aquaculture and climate change. These conditions resulted in several species of seaweeds that adapt to these pressures and expand their living boundaries while others may fade away. Accordingly, the study of seaweeds biodiversity in the Egyptian marine waters is of great concern globally and constitutes an important element of global changeresearch.The present book entitled Biodiversity of Seaweeds in the Egyptian Marine Waters summarizes our current understanding of the biodiversity of seaweeds in the Egyptian marine waters. It is a timely publication based wholly on primary data which were collected through extensive field studies conducted over the years covering the marine Egyptian waters and culminate the efforts of the Egyptian phycologists. The book contains high-quality images of some species in their existing habitats. This book presents the following geological contributions in Ediacaran and Paleozoic rocks. 1) It introduces four new rock units for the first time, the Ediacaran El Urf Formation (volcanoclastic sediments in the central Eastern Desert), the Ediacaran Abu Haswa Formation (stromatolitic dolostone in southwestern Sinai), the Early Permian Wadi Dome Formation (mixed clastics and carbonates in the west of Suez Gulf) and the Early Permian Misawag Formation (in the subsurface, northwestern Desert), 2) making correlation of the Ediacaran rock units with the corresponding rock units in Libya, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, 3) linking the exposed Paleozoic rock units with their equivalent rock units in subsurface in northwestern desert, 4) correlating the Paleozoic rock units with the equivalent rock units in adjacent countries, e. g. Libya, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia, 5) manifesting the possible depositional environments of the Ediacaran andPaleozoic rock units.Additionally, it offers an important unique geological information about the Ediacaran and Paleozoic rock units in Egypt. It unifies the nomenclature of Paleozoic rock units that take numerous names for the same geological time. It obsoletes the formation names that do not follow the rules of the North American stratigraphic code (1983) for rock units¿ nomenclature. It provides the target audience illustrations, e.g. field photographs for the exposed rock units that save efforts and time for audience (undergraduate, post-graduate, researchers and professional) to reach to the original localities of each rock units. It provides the audience with schematic diagrams that exhibit the link between the exposed and subsurface rock units all over the Egyptian territory. It describes the following topics of each rock unit: definition, stratigraphic contact, lithological characteristics, faunal and floral associations that are used for the identification of the possible age, correlation with corresponding rock units in adjacent countries, e.g. Libya, Jordan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia and the possible depositional environments for each rock units.The book is a fundamental source of an updated version of the information in the field to the undergraduate, graduate, researchers, professional, practitioners and policy planning elsewhere.

The monograph presents the results of the development of the theoretical foundations of geoinformation management of the development of distributed organizational and technical systems and territories. The objectives of the research identified the main tasks to be solved: 1) conceptual analysis of the processes of geoinformation management of the development of spatially distributed natural and technical systems. 2) methodological foundations for managing the development of natural and technical systems. 3) methodological apparatus for providing geoinformation management for the development of natural and technical systems. 4) geoinformation systems for managing the development of natural and technical systems. 5) methods and models of decision-making risk management in managing the development of natural and technical systems. The study of vortex and wave flows is one of the traditional problems of fluid mechanics, the practical importance of which has grown significantly in recent years. Consideration of the processes of substance transfer in such complex systems as natural water bodies is fraught with many difficulties of a methodological and fundamental nature: the extreme complexity of conducting a full-scale experiment, the complexity and variability of hydrophysical fields of the ocean and hydrometeorological conditions during research, and also, in some cases, the complexity and the variability of the properties of the transferred substance. In this connection, it is of particular interest to study the transfer of markers in stationary vortex and wave flows, which can form in laboratory facilities with constant external conditions. In this case, it is possible to avoid problems associated with the spatial and temporal variability of natural sources of vortex formations and directly trace the dependence of the characteristic flow parameters or the characteristics of the movement of solid or other objects placed during. This book presents the results of experimental and theoretical studies of the dynamics and structure of multiphase vortex flows and the nature of the transfer of three types of markers: solid-state (ice, plastic), immiscible with water (oil, oil, diesel) and soluble (aniline dyes, uranyl). The results will be important, first of all, for a better understanding of the behavior of various impurities in the circulation flows and more accurate prediction of their distribution in natural conditions (in a stratified hydrosphere and atmosphere).

The goal of this one-of-a-kind book was to provide a critical and in-depth understanding of various AVS-SEM models as predictors for assessing the ecological impact of heavy metals (particularly dibasic cations; Zn, Cd, Ni, Cu, and Pb) on aquatic environments, including the theories underlying these models, descriptive equations, modes of action, methodology, efficiency, applicability, and statistical approaches, as well as comparison with other pollution assessment techniques in the aquatic environments. Metals in interstitial water can be reduced in sediments that co-precipitate with iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) in FeS or MnS minerals, as well as replace them. This book outlines a system that can be used to track heavy metal contamination in countries with coastal regions that extend over water bodies that are subjected to pollution sources, such as the Mediterranean Basin countries. Moreover, this book will be of great interest to academics, professionals, practitioners, post-graduate students (M.Sc. and Ph.D.), and undergraduates because it gives a clear overview of heavy metal assessment for people interested in environmental studies focusing on the marine environment. This book presents a detailed review of the mineral deposits and occurrences in the Arabian-Nubian Shield (ANS), including their distribution, mineralization styles, economic importance, and geological controls on the mineralization. The purpose of the book is to compile the results of past and recent investigations on mineral deposits and occurrences in the ANS that covering the countries of (Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, and Ethiopia). In this regard, it discusses in detail the various genetic mineralization styles in the ANS including: (1) magmatic mineral deposits associated with mafic-ultramafic rocks (e.g. chromite, Ni-Cu-Co-PGE magmatic sulfides, Fe-Ti-V oxides), (2) intrusion-related (magmatic-hydrothermal) deposits associated with felsic to intermediate rocks (porphyry, epithermal Au-Ag/sulfide vein type family, skarn, granite-related pegmatite-REE deposits), (3) hydrothermal orogenic gold and volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, as well as (4) surficial mineral deposits (chemical-sedimentary, residual, mechanical and supergene enrichment deposits).
