This volume contains papers selected from those presented at the International Symposium on the Analysis of Hydrocarbons and Halogenated Hydrocarbons in the Aquatic Environment, May 23-25, 1978. Hutzinger, 11 papers describing quantitative analytical results, 12 papers on analytical methods, 9 papers on incidence, monitoring and pathways;
Proceedings of a Conference held in Knoxville, Tennessee, April 14-17 1996
In the four years since the 1978 Symposium on the Application of Short-Term Bioassays in the Fractionation and Analysis of Complex Environmental Mixtures the use of short-term bioassays to evaluate potential health hazards of complex environmental mixtures has substantially increased.
Proceedings of the Seventh International Conference held in Lublin, Poland, September 4--7, 1989
Traditionally studies of aquatic primary productivity have heen conducted hy workers in two major schools: experimental laboratory biology, and empirical field ecology. Thanks are due to Mrs. Margaret Dienes, with out whose editorial skills this volume could not have been pro duced, and to Mrs. Helen Kondratuk as Symposium Coordinator.
Complex mixtures discussed include ambient air and water, waste water, drinking water, shale oil, syn thetic fuels, automobile exhaust, diesel particulate, coal fly ash, cigarette smoke condensates, and food products.
Proceedings of the International Workshop, Thermal Solid Waste Utilization in Regular and Industrial Facilities, held in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland, November 28-30, 1999.
Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on N-Substituted Aryl Compounds, held in Cleveland, Ohio, July 15-19, 1989
Proceedings of an international symposium held in San Diego, California, February 4-7, 1992
Proceedings of the First Scientific Conference of the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry (IGAC) Project held in Eilat, Israel, April 18-22, 1993
When Oak Ridge National Laboratory initiated its Environmental Program in early 1970 under a grant from the National Science Foundation, the usefulness of environmental indicators in assessing the effects of technology was included as one of the initial areas for investigation.
One alternative is the use of a pest management method that uses the energy of the pest's own biomass to fuel a self-perpetuating control system. The use of biological control agents for the control of pests has long been an integral part of the pest management strategy in crop production and forestry and in the protection of man and animals.
For instance, whereas we have a great deal of data on residues in North America, we know virtually nothing about the extent of pesticide contamination in Africa, South America and much of Asia, although large amounts of organochlorine insecticides have been used in these areas.
This volume, Proceedings of the Conference ACID RAIN: Economic Assessment, is meant to present the areas of agreement which economists have established and the uncertainties which they have discovered in their attempts to use the methodology of economics to better understand the nature of the acid rain issue.
Monitoring the environment is absolutely essential if we are to identify hazards to human health, to assess environmental cleanup efforts, and to prevent further degradation of the ecosystem.
This work addresses perchlorate as a potable water contaminant. The two main topics are analytical chemistry and treatment or remediation. Other subjects include ion exchange, phytoremediation, bacterial reduction of perchlorate, bioreactors and in situ bioremediation.
Proceedings of the Eighth Annual Conference of the Air Resources Information Clearinghouse held in Washington, D.C., December 5-6, 1991
Proceedings of the 10th International Conference held in Lublin, Poland, September 17-21, 1995
Proceedings of the 1995 International Produced Water Seminar held in Trondheim, Norway, September 25-28, 1995
Proceedings of the Tenth Annual Conference of the Center for Environmental Information, Inc., on National Actions for International Commitment, held in Washington, D.C., November 30-December 2, 1994
Increasing international concern is being expressed regarding the contamination of the environment with polychlorinated dibenzo-p dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans because certain of these chemicals have been shown to be highly toxic to animals and are ubiquitous in the environment.
These proceedings provide a forum for chemical scientists and engineers dedicated to making a cleaner, healthier world for everyone. They cover a wide range of related subjects such as environmental monitoring, wastewater treatment, and sludge management.

Based in part on the symposium on Biodegradation of Nitroaromatic Compounds held in Las Vegas, Nevada, May 22-23, 1994
This volume is intended for the professional who is a newcomer to the area of environmental radon.
Proceedings of the 11th International Conference held in Cairo, Assuan, and Luxor, Egypt, September 10-17, 1997
The rapid deterioration of the environment in many countries around the world, or of segments and aspects of the environment in specific locations, made it necessary that immediate - even if only short term - solutions be found to as many of these problems as possible.
