Lieutenant Peyton "Mack" McWhirter, a highly respected fire officer is suspended after a fatal fire kills one of his rookies. The uninvestigated fire and his quick suspension cause concern for the fire department. Along the way, he runs across old friends and other firefighters sympathetic to his plight, bandits that are not so sympathetic, and unknowingly the devil himself.Sunrises have always held a special spot in Mack's heart. For him, they symbolize the end of darkness and the beginning of a new day. Despite carrying his burden and scars and being faced with evil darkness, Mack decides to make the sun rise by his own hand and begins a new day.
Fire Captain Mack McWhirter is a busy man. Likewise, his girlfriend Samantha has her hands full with her Circle Star Cowboy Complex. The burden of responsibility is a wedge being driven into the heart of their relationship. She agrees to accompany him on a trip to New Mexico to deliver some saddles to his customer, Booger Red Privett. Mack is glad for the opportunity to reconnect with Samantha but realizes all too soon, absence does make the heart grow fonder. The "Land of Enchantment" is also a land of adversity, cartels, mysteries and murder. It's also a place where karma goes full circle. Like the old men say, "What don't kill ya will only make ya stronger."
