The permanent exhibition in the north wing of Dresden's Royal Palace presents the surviving, magnificent vestments from the possessions of the Saxon electors, dating from around 1550 to 1650. This unique treasure trove of European fashion and textile history from the Renaissance and early Baroque has now been re-opened to the public after more than 80 years in storage and many years of conservation and restoration measures. Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts erhielten volkssprachige Texte des Mittelalters im Heiligen Römischen Reich eine bislang unerreichte Aufmerksamkeit. Gelehrte wie Johann Schilter (1632-1705) sammelten und edierten das älteste deutsche Schriftgut aus einer neuen integrativen und polyhistorisch ausgerichteten Perspektive, die sich für juristische, historiographische und sakrale Texte zugleich interessierte. Am Beispiel der Editionen Schilters untersucht die vorliegende Studie diese Umbruchszeit einer frühneuzeitlichen Germanistik, die deutschrechtliche Studien, Mittelalterhistoriographie und germanische Sprachgeschichte miteinander verband. Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Auswirkungen des Entstehungskontexts frühneuzeitlicher Editionen auf ihr Erscheinungsbild, welche in der Forschung bislang erst in Ansätzen berücksichtigt wurden. Mit Blick auf die begünstigenden oder einschränkenden Faktoren, welche den Herstellungsprozess frühneuzeitlicher Editionen prägten, wird Schilter so als lange Zeit zu Unrecht verkannter Protagonist der germanistischen Mittelalterphilologie um 1700 mit seinen Vorläufern ebenso wie mit seinen Nachfolgern in Beziehung gesetzt.

These Returns are from the colonies of South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania, along with some from Jamaica in the West Indies. The Returns from Pennsylvania making up the bulk of these persons within. The entries generally include name, religion, town and county of residence, and date of naturalization.
