Det fangede min interesse, og da jeg bad om det, fik også jeg en ”klud”, broderigarn og et enkelt korsstingsmønster at brodere efter.Meget hurtigt opdagede jeg glæden og ”friheden” ved at fordybe mig i sytøjet. Jeg havde mit eget kreative frirum, hvor der ikke fandtes triste tanker, savn eller længsel. Anne Grete Hvirvelkær er en interessant kunstner, der i en moden alder er begyndt at arbejde med collager. Hendes senest inspiration er især kommet fra billeder, som hun finder i blade fra 1950’erne, 1960’erne og 1970’erne, fortrinsvis bladet Tidens Kvinder, hvor der i annoncer for bladet f.eks. stod “Bed Deres mand forære Dem et abonnement på TIDENS KVINDER, så får De det regelmæssigt ind ad døren hver eneste tirsdag.”Det var egentlig billederne, hun skulle bruge, men da hun begyndte at læse i bladene, blev også teksterne interessante. Det gav hende ideen til at lave denne bog med hendes collager, suppleret med udvalgte underfundige tekster fra bladene. Det er en samling af collager, inspireret af en tid, der hørte hendes barn- og ungdom til. Denne bog vil vække minder og blive til glæde for mange.

Hannah Höch (1889-1978) moved between differing worlds: as an editorial assistant with a major Berlin-based magazine publisher, and as the only woman who could hold her own in the German capital's vibrant Dada scene of the 1920s. Höch broke with the traditions of representation and vision. Her works dissected a world marked by the catastrophe of the Great War and an intense consumer culture, and reassembled it in revolutionary, poetic, and often ironic ways. Höch kept to her artistic means and her poetic-radical imagination, shimmering between social observation and dream world, even in the post-WWII period. Scissors and glue were the weapons of her art of montage, of which she was a co-inventor. Cutting and montage also shaped film, still a new medium in the 1920s, which strongly influenced Höch's art: she understood her assembled pictures as static films. This richly illustrated and expertly annotated book explores comprehensively for the first time Höch's fascination with film and the visual culture of the modern industrial age. It demonstrates how montage evolved in a field of tension between artistic experimentation, commercial exploitation, and political appropriation. A text on photomontage by Hannah Höch, writen in 1948, and text-collage on the history of montage, in which major protagonists of Modernism and Avant-garde such as Sergej Eisenstein, Raoul Hausmann, László Moholy-Nagy, Walter Ruttman, Kurt Schwitters, Theo van Doesburg, and Dsiga Wertow, have their say, round out this volume.

A seven-decade retrospective on the Destruction Art pioneer, Museo del Barrio founder and theorist of EthnoaestheticsThis comprehensive survey is published for El Museo del Barrio's 2022 exhibition on the American artist, activist, educator and founder of El Museo del Barrio, Raphael Montañez Ortiz (born 1934). Spanning the 1950s to the early 2020s, the retrospective presents a generous sampling of his oeuvre including his film, painting, photography, video installation and assemblage work. From his early days as a key figure in the international Destruction Art movement to his activism as an artist of Puerto Rican heritage with the Guerrilla Art Action Group to his concepts of "Ethnoaesthetics" and "Physio-Psycho-Alchemy" (which positions meditation, ritual and breathing practices at the center of a series of performative and participative works), his work consistently challenges and expands art historical conventions. Raphael Montañez Ortiz: Destruction enhances the retrospective with plate images, archival material, text excerpts, critical essays and an updated chronology.

In the Swiss province, at the foot of picturesque mountains, on a quiet lake, a biotope of avant-garde design has formed. The self-proclaimed "Poster Town" Lucerne has managed to merge the boundaries between art and design, creating a contemporary design phenomenon in the process. We are talking about the posters for the Neubad Cultural Center, which have long since found their way out of the valley and all over the world. The posters, in minimalist black and white, not only set contemporary design trends, but playfully transcend the boundaries of our perceptual habits. Progressive illustration and experimental typography create subcultural codes on a highly cultural level that remain unpretentious despite their artistic daring. The Neubad Poster is an aesthetic phenomenon and an expression of a social change that has always been expressed in fashion, music, design-in other words, in the zeitgeist. The book as a collection of curated pieces that in itself formulated a new expression of this emerged aesthetic.

The Schaubühne Berlin is one of the foremost German-language theatres and has a unique artistic profile. Between 2018 and 2022, visual artists Christian Jankowski, John Bock, Olaf Nicolai, Katharina Sieverding and Monica Bonvicini designed a series of posters for the theatre. The outcome: striking two-dimensional artworks that when inserted into Berlin's cityscape, created a kind of temporary urban exhibition. The array of artistic executions in the poster campaign ranges from humorously grotesque scenes or fanciful tableaux featuring members of the ensemble to purely conceptual approaches devoid of any text or image, to posters that use round cut-outs to capitalize on their ever-changing impact in the urban space. Om det er igennem maleri, skulptur, installation eller kunst i det offentlige rum finder vi et forsøg på at optegne et nyt territorium for samtidskunsten, hvor det bliver muligt at italesætte hvordan arkitekturen indrammer vores liv og den omgivende natur. Et spørgsmål, som igennem Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsens kunst åbner imod en ny relation til det ikke-menneskelige. Asmund Havsteen-Mikkelsen er uddannet fra Det Kgl. Danske Kunstakademi med studier på HfbK Hamburg og CCA Kitakyushu i Japan, og boede i Berlin i perioden 2007-2015. I 2018 gik hans projekt 'Flooded Modernity', en kopi af Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye, viralt i internationale medier. The artist book "Marcel van Eeden - 1898" is being published to coincide with the Hans-Thoma Prize 2023. The prize-winner, Marcel van Eeden (* 1965), explores Thoma's little-known travels to the Netherlands in 1898. He reflects on Thoma's analysis of Rembrandt van Rijn or Paulus Potter, under the problematic influence of cultural theorist Julius Langbehn. Present-day gum bichromate images of the places Thoma visited alongside historical quotes by Thoma and Langbehn result in a multifaceted, critical consideration of nationalistic views on culture.

The Desert Turned to Glass is a place where the cosmic and chthonic collide. Commemorating the centenary of the planetarium as an architectural type, this book collects a new body of work by acclaimed Canadian artist Charles Stankievech. Thematically, the project explores alternative theories concerning the origin of life, consciousness, and art-bridging the cosmological visions of cave art and the modern technology of the planetarium. No single living artist has created as many myths, rumors and legends as Banksy. In 2011, Bristol based writer Marc Leverton published a collection of the best of these stories together.
