Holger Lissner er en af vor tids største salmedigtere med en produktion, der rækker små 50 år tilbage. Hans sange og salmer er repræsenteret i en række sangbøger, og hans ord har præget dansk kirkeliv og den danske gudstjeneste i årtier (ligesom oversættelser af flere af hans tekster synges i de andre nordiske lande). – Med nærværende bog udkommer 99 salmer og sange, udvalgt fra alle årene. De fleste har ikke tidligere været trykt, men indtil nu levet deres liv på kopiark, som bidrag til kirkelige arrangementer, som dele af lokale, nationale og internationale sang- og salmeprojekter etc. Salmerne er ledsaget af melodier, komponeret af en række af landets dygtigste salmekomponister. Samlingen er endvidere forsynet med noter til de enkelte tekster; med oplysninger om tilblivelse og anledning og med ord om ordene. Diderik Buxtehude (1637-1707) er en af den europæiske barokmusiks vigtigste komponister. Hans kunstneriske fantasi satte nye musikalske standarder, og med sin fusion af det eksperimenterende, det legende og det lærde blev han et forbillede for Johann Sebastian Bach, der beundrede ham højt. Buxtehude var født i Danmark og begyndte sin karriere i Helsingør og Helsingborg. Som 31-årig tiltrådte han et af Nordeuropas vigtigste organistembeder i Mariakirken i Lübeck, og resten af sit liv boede og arbejdede han i den nordtyske by. Desværre er sporene efter hans liv ret utydelige. Der findes kun et enkelt billede af ham, og flere af hans hovedværker er gået tabt. Men i dag, hvor barokkens musik er mere populær end nogensinde, er Buxtehudes musik genstand for stor international opmærksomhed, og han er i dag nok den danske komponist, der er mest udbredt på verdensplan. I denne bog, den første af sin art på dansk i mange år, præsenterer komponisten og forfatteren Karl Aage Rasmussen os for et af Danmarks største musiknavne nogensinde.

Med Kirkesangbogen fik Den Danske Salmebog i maj 2017 en ”lillesøster”. Kirkesangbogen har 229 numre, og den præsenterer både ældre, nyere og helt nyskrevne salmer og sange. Det er et udpluk af de nyskrevne salmer og sange, der er at finde på albummet Lys og Lindring. De 14 numre på albummet er indspillet af kunstnerne selv og er personlige kunstneriske fortolkninger af sangene i Kirkesangbogen. Albummet er indspillet live i Sankt Jakobs Kirke på Østerbro i København, hvor sangskriverne har indsunget deres numre akkompagneret af en trio bestående af den unge, fremadstormende rytmiske pianist Kristian Marstal samt violinisten Sofie Qvamme og cellisten Live Johansson. Albummet er produceret af Henrik Marstal, som også er del af redaktionsgruppen bag Kirkesangbogen. Med albummet Lys og lindring får man mulighed for at stifte bekendtskab med helt nyt materiale. 1. Hymns in English er en salmebog med mere end 50 salmer fra Den Danske Salmebog på engelsk samt nyoversatte dele af Ritualbogen. Bogen er tænkt som en hjælp til danske kirker og menigheder i Danmark, der ved gudstjenester, kirkelige handlinger og arrangementer har brug for salmer fra Den Danske Salmebog i engelsk oversættelse.Vi har lagt vægt på at finde et udvalg, der dækker de begivenheder, som dukker op i løbet af menneskelivet og de, der dukker op i løbet af et år (kirkeårets højtider, årstiderne). Desuden er medtaget salmer, som vil kunne finde anvendelse ved andre anledninger, hvor menigheden er to- eller flersproget, eksempelvis ved ungdomsstævner/lejre, internationale/økumeniske sammenkomster, gudstjenester med venskabsmenigheder og mindegudstjenester.De fleste salmer er nyoversat af Edward Broadbridge. Nogle salmer findes allerede i en indsunget udgave og er i så fald medtaget i den indsungne version. Indigenous peoples of Brazil have come to faith in Christ in large numbers in recent decades. As Christianity takes root in each culture, it may incorporate expressive forms of music and art, which can range from those identical to earlier cultural forms to those which are fully imported. But what happens when musicians and artists of a local indigenous community fuse elements from a variety of genres and create their own music? Are they just imitations of external forms? Or are they authentic creations from elements that have now become their own sounds, too? Christian musicians among the Xerente (pronounced Sheh-¿ren-teh) have created their own fusion genre(s) to express their faith, communicate the gospel, and edify their churches. Their music includes elements from their cultural tradition as well as from (secular) genres of the northeastern region of Brazil. Is it, then, authentically Xerente? As we discuss in this book, independent of tangible markers or its long history, the authenticity of an art form can be demonstrated through a number of connections with the community and signposted by its meaning and function among the people, as well as the competence and agency of the people in their artistic choices.

"Hail! bright Cecilia, hail to thee. Great patroness of us and harmony!" - mit diesem Ausruf beginnt der Schlusschor aus Henry Purcells gleichnamiger Cäcilien-Ode aus dem Jahr 1692. Die Komposition ist eine Hymne auf die Kraft der Musik und zählt zu den Höhepunkten englischer Chor-Oden jener Zeit. Seit einem Beschluss der Londoner "Musical Society" im Jahre 1683 wurde einer alten Tradition folgend jährlich am 22. November der Cäcilientag mit Gottesdienst und anschließender großer Festmusik zu Ehren Cäcilias feierlich begangen. Purcell komponierte zu diesem Anlass über die Jahre mehrere Oden, von denen die hier vorgelegte aus dem Jahr 1692 zu den beliebtesten zählt. Vier Jahrzehnte später sollte sich auch Händel mit dem Alexander's Feast HWV 75 (Carus 55.075) und seiner Ode for St. Cecilia's Day HWV 76 (Carus 55.076) in die Tradition einreihen.Purcells prachtvolle Musik zeichnet sich durch große Vielfalt der Klangfarben und Formen aus und bietet reizvolle Partien für verschiedene Solo-, Ensemble- und Chorbesetzungen. Mit ihrer reichen Ausdruckspalette ist die Cäcilien-Ode ein überaus lohnendes Werk des "Orpheus Britannicus", als der Purcell von Zeitgenossen gern bezeichnet wurde.Festlich mitreißendes Loblied auf die MusikHöhepunkt des Genres "Chor-Ode" im 17. Johann Sebastian Bachs Magnificat BWV 243 entstand in seiner ersten Form in Es ganz zu Beginn von Bachs Leipziger Amtszeit, möglicherweise zu Mariae Heimsuchung am 2. Juli 1723. Eine Aufführung am 1. Weihnachtstag 1723 ist gut dokumentiert. Zu diesem Anlass fügte Bach, einer Leipziger Tradition folgend, vierweihnachtliche Einlagesätze hinzu.Erst in den 1730er Jahren bearbeitete Bach das Magnificat zur bekannten Fassung in D. Er veränderte die Instrumentation, vor allem aber wurden die größten aufführungspraktischen Probleme der Es-Dur-Fassung entschärft. In dieser Fassung in D ist das Magnificat in der kritischen Carus-Ausgabe des Bach-Experten Ulrich Leisinger enthalten, basierend auf Bachs Partiturautograph.Im Klavierauszug sind die Einlagesätze für weihnachtliche Aufführungen als Anhang enthalten; Partitur und Stimmen stehen für die Einlagesätze separat zur Verfügung (Carus 31.243/50).
