Questo libro è il risultato di un'indagine sul trattamento giornalistico del movimento studentesco, noto come Riforma Universitaria del 1918, attraverso i contenuti giornalistici disponibili ne La Gaceta Universitaria de Córdoba e nel giornale La Opinión de San Luis. Questa analisi si è basata sul trattamento giornalistico dell'informazione (TPI) di Violette Morin e sulle unità di analisi di Klauss Krappendorf, come proposta metodologica. L'arco di tempo preso in considerazione per questa ricerca è stato quello dei mesi di maggio, giugno e luglio del 1918; considerando questo trimestre come quello rilevante da analizzare per la cronologia degli eventi che si verificarono dopo il movimento studentesco, è stato raccolto, classificato e interpretato il materiale giornalistico di 22 edizioni de La Gaceta Universitaria e di 72 numeri de La Opinión de San Luís. Sono state rilevate 4389 unità di informazione tra le due pubblicazioni. Le notizie e gli editoriali sono stati classificati secondo categorie considerate rilevanti per il trattamento giornalistico del Movimento Studentesco.

This book is the result of an investigation into the journalistic treatment of the student movement, known as the University Reform of 1918, through the journalistic content available in La Gaceta Universitaria de Córdoba and the newspaper La Opinión de San Luis. This analysis was based on Violette Morin's journalistic treatment of information (TPI) and Klauss Krappendorf's units of analysis, as a methodological proposal. The time frame for this research was May, June and July 1918; considering this quarter as the relevant one to analyse due to the chronology of events that occurred after the student movement, journalistic material was collected, classified and interpreted from 22 editions of La Gaceta Universitaria and 72 issues of La Opinión de San Luís. From the aforementioned, 4389 units of information were detected between the two publications. The news and editorials were classified according to categories considered relevant for the journalistic treatment of the Student Movement.

This book finds that Al-Jazeeräs coverage of Bahrain and Syria has conformed with Qatar¿s foreign policy, throughout the last decade (2011-2021). Al-Jazeera Arabic adopted Qatar¿s ¿double standards¿ policy in both countries in the beginning of the Arab Spring, framing Bahrain¿s protests as a ¿sectarian movement,¿ while depicting the Syrian armed conflict as a legitimate ¿revolution¿ (2011-2013). The book observes that when ties between Qatar and Bahrain worsened during the 2017 Gulf crisis, Al-Jazeera Arabic has shifted its coverage from being ¿pro-Bahraini regime¿ to ¿pro-protesters,¿ focusing on violations and giving voice to activists (2014-2021). The book concludes that the lack of ¿Peace Journalism¿ framing in Al-Jazeeräs coverage of Bahrain¿s uprising and Syriäs chemical weapons attacks has represented ¿claims¿ as ¿facts,¿ and justified military action against Syria. It also reveals distinctive differences between Al-Jazeera Arabic and English, with the former lacking ¿objective reporting standards,¿ and using more sectarian language than the latter.

This book explains what it means to teach journalism in countries with limited media freedom in the post-pandemic era. This book explores the form, dynamics, and main reasons for media capture and conspiracy between editors and executive politicians in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) since 2000. Situated in the literatures on Europeanization, democratization, party studies, and media studies, the book aims to connect these fields by showing that internal party dynamics play an important role in motivating executive politicians to hijack or collaborate with media. Against this backdrop, the book tells the story of Croatian journalism in the context of media-mafia conglomerates, political corruption, and media hijacking, and examines how "traditional" democratic drivers that the literature frequently cites, such as Europeanization and party competition, failed to prevent systematic transgressions by politicians. Methodologically, the book takes a two-pronged approach. First, nearly 50 interviews were conducted with Croatian investigative journalists, from which the narratives about the relationshipsbetween government politicians and editors over 15 years were reconstructed. In a second step, a sample of 40,000 media articles was subjected to a computational sentiment analysis, covering the same 15-year period and showing high levels of cooperation between corrupt politicians and corrupt media outlets.
