Hierfür sollen zunächst die Begrifflichkeiten sowie Ziele der politischen Erwachsenenbildung erläutert, die derzeitige Situation sowie einige empirische Daten zur politischen Erwachsenenbildung dargestellt werden. Die Ergebnisse werden im Anschluss diskutiert und mögliche Forschungslücken aufgezeigt sowie weiterführende Forschungsfragen umrissen.In Deutschland wurde vor Kurzem ein AFD-Kandidat mit fast 53 Prozent der Wähler:innenstimmen zum Landrat gewählt. Bei der AFD handelt es sich um eine Partei, die aufgrund von rechtsextremistischen Tendenzen vom Verfassungsschutz beobachtet wird. Eine offene Ablehnung der Demokratie sprechen AFD-Politiker:innen zwar nicht aus, doch deren fremdenfeindlichen, antisemitischen, transfeindlichen und misogynen Äußerungen führt zu der Annahme, dass diese ablehnende Haltung besteht.Der zunehmende Wahlerfolg dieser Partei lässt vermuten, dass Wähler:innen dieser Partei die Demokratie nicht als alternativlos betrachten. HEINRICH JACOBY 1889 bis 1964Mit Beginn seiner ersten selbstgewählten Berufstätigkeit, zuvor musste er auf Drängen seines Vaters eine Lehre im Metallhandel absolvieren, nämlich als Kapellmeister am Stadttheater in Straßburg unter der Operndirektion Hans Pfitzners, eröffneten sich Heinrich Jacoby 1909 grundlegende Fragestellungen seiner Forschungen, Veröffentlichungen und seiner Tätigkeiten als Leiter von Kursen:So kam ich schon sehr früh zu der Überzeugung, dass auch das, was man leichthin als unbegabt zu bezeichnen gewohnt ist, gar nicht Fehlen einer Gabe sein müsse, und dass etwas trotz vieler Mühe nicht zu können nicht mit dafür unbegabt zu sein gleichgesetzt werden dürfe. Von diesen Erfahrungen her begann mich die Arbeit mit ausgesprochen schwierigen Schülern besonders zu interessieren. Und je schwieriger der Fall, desto größer und eigensinniger wurde mein Interesse, einen Weg zur positiven Lösung zu finden. Immer wieder und immer deutlicher wurde der scheinbare Mangel einer Gabe als durch Erziehungsfehler in der frühen Kindheit und durch unzweckmäßige und irreführende Art des Beibringens verursacht erkennbar, verständlich und damit beeinflussbar.Meine bisherigen Erfahrungen führten mich während der nun folgenden Jahre zu systematischen Untersuchungen über die funktionellen Grundlagen der musikalischen Ausdrucksfähigkeit, über die materiellen Phänomene, durch die lebendiges Musizieren sich von unlebendigem unterscheidet und schließlich auch über die Ursachen und über die Behebbarkeit von Störungen der allgemeinen Fähigkeit, sich zu äußern, überhaupt. Heinrich Jacobys intensives Forschen, das sich zu Beginn auf mehr als tausend Fallstudien gründete und zu systematischen Untersuchungen vielfältiger Zusammenhänge führte, erweiterte das Spektrum. Die Musik galt ihm nun als ein Beispiel menschlicher Ausdrucksfähigkeit, das mit allen anderen Verhaltensmöglichkeiten zu ergänzen ist. Die bisher einzige wirkliche Förderung für die praktische Weiterentwicklung meiner Arbeit verdanke ich dem Zusammentreffen mit der Arbeitsweise von Elsa Gindler und dem gegenseitigen Austausch unserer Arbeitserfahrungen. Dadurch erst ist die heute in unseren Arbeitsgemeinschaften erreichbare Präzision und Deutlichkeit möglich geworden, mit der wir zu den während des Ausdrucks- und Verständigungsvorganges in unserem Organismus entstehenden, gesetzmäßig bedingten Zustandsänderungen und Änderungstendenzen bewusst Beziehung gewinnen können.

This book explores 'why some people experience post-traumatic growth leading to greater wisdom and others do not' and suggests that a critical variable is how one copes with that trauma: individuals who actively reflect on their experiences of trauma should develop higher levels of self-transcendent wisdom.
