Faget hæmatologi har i de senere år gennemgået en rivende udvikling, og Hæmatologi i klinisk praksis møder behovet for opdateret viden og indsigt indenfor de enkelte hæmatologiske sygdommes patofysiologi og behandling. Bogen er skrevet for alle, som på en eller anden måde har kontakt med det hæmatologiske speciale og føler behov for at skaffe sig ekstra viden. Målgruppen er primært reservelæger, sygeplejersker og andet plejepersonale, som ansættes i hæmatologiske afdelinger, men også andre, der indirekte er i kontakt med specialet. Fx ansatte ved andre afdelinger og institutioner, som møder patienter med hæmatologiske sygdomme. Hæmatologi i klinisk praksis indeholder kapitler for hver af de mest almindelige hæmatologiske sygdomme. De enkelte kapitler indledes typisk med en karakteristisk sygehistorie og afsluttes med facit for sygehistorien, hvorved sygehistorien danner ramme om kapitlet ved først at vække nysgerrighed og interesse, og siden fungerer som en slags repetition, når svaret gennemgås af forfatteren. Bogen er rigt illustreret med gode histopatologiske billeder og pædagogiske stregtegninger ligesom der i videst muligt omfang er anvendt danske overlevelsesdata, hvor disse er tilgængelige.
Basisbog i medicin og kirurgi udgør en overskuelig dansksproget introduktion til de to centrale kliniske fag på medicinstudiet: intern medicin og kirurgi.
