Kirurgi i akutmodtagelse er en videreførelse af Skadestuekirurgi, der over en årrække udkom i 4 forskellige udgaver. Bogen er fornyet og opdateret i forhold til udviklingen inden for diagnostik og behandling, og den er samtidig tilpasset sundhedsvæsenets aktuelle organisation, hvor den akutte kirurgi primært er centraliseret i større centre og fælles akutmodtageenheder. Bogen giver en samlet fremstilling af de kirurgiske problemer, der typisk ses i akutmodtagelsen. Målgruppen er fortsat primært de unge læger og medicinstuderende, som står i første række ved behandling af patienter med akutte kirurgiske lidelser. Praktiserende læger samt behandlersygeplejersker kan dog også have glæde af bogen.Forfatterne har bidraget med den nyeste viden og de nyeste anbefalinger inden for deres specialer, og den redaktionelle linje er moderniseret og ensrettet. Det er tilstræbt, at afsnittene om behandling skal være praktisk anvendelige, så den nødvendige behandling let og målrettet kan sættes i gang. På trods af den store mængde viden, der findes på nettet, er det stadig en fordel at have en opdateret og grundig gennemlæst kittelbog i lommen, før man påtager sig at modtage, diagnosticere og behandle patienter med kirurgiske lidelser. Dette er den første danske fagbog om operationssygepleje. Bogen er delt i fire overordnede dele.Første del beskæftiger sig med operationssygeplejerskens faglige identitet, kompetencer og funktionsområder, herunder juridiske, etiske og humanistiske aspekter. The book provides up-to-date information on all aspects of colonic diverticular disease, particularly common in Western countries. Most people suffering from it remain asymptomatic, while about 20% develop symptoms without complications, experiencing the so-called "e;Symptomatic Non-Complicated Diverticular Disease"e; (SUDD). 10-25% of this last group eventually  develop diverticulitis, with or without complications. The incidence of diverticulitis and diverticular colon disease is increasing worldwide, and is becoming a significant burden for national health systems in terms of direct and indirect costs, also because its prevalence increases with age. Unfortunately, the disease pathogenesis is relatively unknown and several aetiological factors may play a role in its onset.The first parts of the book will deal with the disease epidemiology  and etiopathogenesis,  focusing  on the roles of inflammation and dysbiosis as part of the pathophysiology of diverticular disease. This book aims at filling a gap in relation to the pathophysiology of the inguinal region and the genesis of groin protrusions. While inguinal hernia is a widespread disease and hernia repair accounts for the most frequently performed surgical procedure, these two aspects have been unsatisfactorily investigated, so that to date there is no shared hypothesis on how visceral protrusion through inguinal barrier occur. Exact knowledge on the pathogenesis is fundamental for adequately managing a disease, otherwise all curative approaches would  not be  evidence-based, but merely empirically identified  and with uncertain outcomes carried out. Moreover, in absence of pathogenetic certainty, formulating guidelines simply results in an unjustified methodology harbinger of polemics and controversies. Previous studies concerning the pathogenesis of inguinal protrusions were mainly focused on the detection of biochemical changes, mostly related to collagen chains, metalloproteinase and similar elements. Nevertheless, despite decades of researches, a sure relationship between these ultrastructural modifications and visceral protrusion has not been proven. On the contrary, over the years very few investigations dealt with evidencing eventual modifications in the tissue structures of the herniated groin. An extensive research finalized to ascertain in patients and in cadavers structural changes of the tissue elements composing the groin was therefore carried out by the author and his researchers team. The findings of these studies resulted to be very useful for definitely evidencing the etiology of inguinal hernia disease. Overall, the proposed book scrutinizes and widens all emerging aspects related to pathogenesis, histology, physiology, surgical and functional anatomy of the inguinal area affected by hernia protrusion. It intends to be a reference guide to surgeons willing to better understand the structural modifications occurring in patients affected by this disease with the aim of improving treatment results.
