When the author began working on phosphors based on rare-earth elements, he lacked an introductory textbook that explained the fundamental chemistry, basic optical properties, and magnetic characteristics of lanthanide elements. In the first part, the reader receives an overview of solid-state chemistry and fundamental physical properties of these elements. Power quality problems become a major anxiety of industries due to enormous loss in terms of time and money. The power quality consists of a large number of disturbances such as voltage sags, swells, harmonics, notch, flicker, etc. There are the various methods to alleviate the power quality problems, but the FACTS devices are the most excellent solution to alleviate this problem. One of the most powerful FACTS devices is the DVR to alleviate the voltage sag and swell. The performance of any custom power device depends very much upon the control algorithm used for the reference current estimation and gating pulse generation scheme. The operation of a DVR has been demonstrated with a new control technique using various voltage injection schemes.

However, in photonic quantum state engineering, current recipes for design and modelingare impotent in specific quantum applications, for which advanced techniques are urgently needed. In this dissertation, the quantum-level interplay between the linear response of integrated photonic devices and multiple nonlinearities withinthe system has been investigated in detail. We utilize these interactions to manage the generation of limit-breaking quantum photonic states, including customized temporal-spectral entanglement, high-brightness quantum sources, and high-purityquantum states.
