Islamisk filosofi er opstået som muslimers forsøg på at forstå sandheden og er dermed en vigtig del af islams historie. I denne bog redegør forskningslektor Safet Bektovic for filosofiens betydning og dens rolle inden for islamisk tænkning fra tiden efter Muhammeds død og frem til i dag. Endvidere introduceres en række moderne muslimske filosoffer.

Islamic banking is a subject which many people, including Muslims, know very little about. The theory of interest-free banking itself is a revolutionary idea in the banking business of a country, but this aspect often gives rise to confusion and misconceptions about the operation of Islamic banking. The growth of Islamic banking partly reflects demand from Muslims clients for Islamic deposit facilities and fund management services which involve shariah compliance. At the same time, Islamic banking methods are viewed as a challenge and opportunity by conventional bankers, many of whom have sought to get involved in this growing industry. In client driven societies there is a willingness by those in financial services to learn from the experiences of Islamic banks. Further, the globalization of trade necessitates the conducting of affairs of Islamic bank with non-Islamic banks, and vice-versa. Such integrated international trade demands that business communities, banks and other trade regulatory bodies of both Muslim and non-Muslim countries should gain some understanding of the principles of Islamic banking. So the knowledge of current Islamic banking as compared to the conventional banking is very significant for economists, bankers, administrators and other peoples involved with international trade and commerce. Added to these, the increasing number Islamic banks in various countries made it a necessity for banking communities to have some insight into the workings of Islamic banks.Therefore, the present comparative research will familiarize the readers with the principles of shariah and will provide an insight into the rules and principles of Islamic banking as well. In spite of the fact, that the Islamic banks are operating successfully alongside other conventional banks and playing an increasing role in the economy, there has been little comprehension research on Islamic banking in United Kingdom.

As long as individual or group of individuals failed to recognize and identify their variations, colours, nations and tribes, peaceful co-existence will no longer exist among them, and this will lead to series of violence and conflicts. In this regards Islam is a religion which adores peace rather than violence and love, compromise rather than confrontation. In line with this, the Islamic principle of reconciliation should be given attention to address the gabs caused by lack of mutual understanding. Consequent upon this, this paper reveals that reconciliation, patience (Sabr) and forgiveness will serve as tools for negotiation to reach an equitable settlement and to restore peace and security for their wellbeing. Finally, the paper recommends that, all reconciliations terms must conform with the recommendations made by Qur¿an and the traditions of Prophet (SAW).

How is a philosophical tradition created? What role does literary biography play in the formation of intellectual reception history? Through a detailed analysis of the lives and works of post-Avicennan philosophers, this monograph traces the intellectual history and development of the Avicennan tradition from the fifth/eleventh to the eighth/fourteenth century. Section 1 investigates the genres of Arabo-Islamic biobibliographical and prosopographical writings as a source for the history of Arabic philosophy, delineating their literary topoi, the construction of philosophical authority, and the relationship of Sunni and Twelver-si¿i Islam to Aristotelian logic and philosophy. Section 2 presents fourteen discrete biobibliographical studies with a critical inventory of the works, including those written in the neglected exegetical genres of commentary, supercommentary, gloss, and supergloss, of Avicenna's immediate disciples and the following generations of philosophers who created the Avicennan philosophical heritage in the Islamicate world.

Egypten og Palæstina, hvorefter Drømmen om Østerland udkom i 1901.Sophie Elkan var niece til ejeren af ejendommen Nääs, hvor første del af romanen udspiller sig, og tilbragte der sammen med Lagerlöf 22 somre (Nääs beskrives tillige indgående i Nils Holgerssons forunderlige rejse gennem Sverige, kap. 52).

Dagene er en litterær selvbiografisk tredjepersons-fortælling om drengen, der bliver blind som treårig, men trods ydre mørke finder indre lys til at uddanne sig, først i Cairo – hvor han bevæger sig fra dem, der går med turban, til dem der går med fez, fra de skrifttros skole til det nyåbnede universitet. Hussein blev bl.a. undervisningsminister og Egyptens fremmeste eksponent for oplysning og litterær dannelse. Når Dagene har opnået klassikerstatus, skyldes det ikke mindst, at selvbiografien er charmerende fortalt i tredje person og tillige rummer et litterært udtryk for sansningen og erfaringen af verden som blind. Taha Hussein anses stadig i dag som en af de mest anerkendte og indflydelsesrige arabiske forfattere, og blev nomineret til Nobelprisen 14 gange; Naguib Mahfouz, der modtog Nobelprisen i 1988, omtalte Dagene som den primære inspirationskilde til sin første roman. Dagene er en storslået fortælling om modigt at blive ved at kæmpe sig fremad i livet trods hårde odds, fortalt med humor og en vis ironisk distance. Værkets dybe, nuancerede menneskeforståelse bidrager til, at det opleves som relevant og berigende litteratur den dag i dag. Udgivelsen er blevet til på initiativ af Dansk-Egyptisk Dialoginstitut, er oversat af Elisabeth Moestrup og forsynet med forord af Bjørn Bredal samt efterord af Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen.
