Platon war davon überzeugt, dass der ideale Staat durch einen Philosophenkönig regiert werden sollte. In dieser Hausarbeit wird es nun darum gehen, die Herrschaftsformen bei Platon und Al-F¿r¿b¿ in "Die Prinzipien der Ansichten der Bewohner der vortrefflichen Stadt" zu vergleichen. Zunächst wird auf Platons Ansicht der Philosophenherrschaft eingegangen. Nach einer Beschreibung des Staatsaufbaus werden die Fragen beantwortet, wie die Philosophen ausgewählt werden. Welche Ausbildung erfahren sie, um Philosoph zu werden und in der Lage zu sein, über den Staat zu regieren? Anschließend wird auf die Philosophenherrschaft bei Al-F¿r¿b¿ eingegangen, um diese mit der vorangegangenen Beschreibung von Platons Staatsform zu vergleichen. Auch wenn sich in "Die Prinzipien der Ansichten der Bewohner der vortrefflichen Stadt" nur ein relativ kleiner Teil des Werkes mit dem Aufbau des idealen Staates und ihren Herrschern beschäftigt, wird untersucht, inwieweit der islamische Philosoph sich an Platons Idee bedient hat, und es werden Gemeinsamkeiten sowie Unterschiede in den beiden Systemen aufgezeigt.

Ziel dieser Arbeit ist, es zwei besonders markante Denker dieser Zeit vorzustellen und zu vergleichen. Abu-Hamid Muhammad al-Ghazali, als Vertreter des Sufismus, der den Lehren der Antiken Philosophen kritisch gegenüberstand und Abu l-Walid Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Muhammad Ibn Rushd, oder latinisiert Averroes, welcher die Philosophie als Lehre der Vernunft in Einklang mit dem Koran bringen wollte. Als Quellen wurde dabei jeweils die Hauptwerke der Autoren zu diesem Thema genutzt, wobei andere Werke zur Ergänzung herangezogen wurden. Die in erster Linie behandelten Werke sind "Der Erretter aus dem Irrtum" al-Ghazalis und "Die Entscheidende Abhandlung", sowie "Die Untersuchung über die Methoden der Beweise" Ibn Rushds.Durch die noch immer ungelösten Konflikte im Nahen Osten, ob nun die Autonomie des Palästinensergebiets oder der Entstehung eines fundamentalistischen Kalifats im Irak und Syrien ist der Islam im Abendland in Verruf geraten. Man spricht von Horden ungebildeten, gewaltbereiten Männern, die sich auf den Weg in unsere Gefilde machen um gleichzeitig unsere Arbeitsplätze zu stehlen und Sozialhilfeleistungen in Anspruch zu nehmen. Von diesem offensichtlichen Oxymoron einmal abgesehen, hat die islamische Kultur einen deutlichen "Imageschaden" erlitten. In der Zeit der Aufklärung waren muslimische Denker noch Vorbild, schon in der Renaissance wurden einige von auf dieselbe Stufe wie die großen Denker der Antike gesetzt. Tatsächlich erlebte Wissenschaft und Philosophie bereits eine Blütezeit im Islam, während Europa noch immer dabei sich politisch nach dem Fall den Römischen Reichs neu zu ordnen. Von der iberischen Halbinsel, bis nach Zentralasien wurden Schulen geöffnet, Bücher geschrieben und Diskussionen geführt.Zwei dieser islamischen Denker sollen hierbei genauer in Augenschein genommen werden.

The theory of interest-free banking itself is a revolutionary idea in the banking business of a country, but this aspect often gives rise to confusion and misconceptions about the operation of Islamic banking. The growth of Islamic banking partly reflects demand from Muslims clients for Islamic deposit facilities and fund management services which involve shariah compliance. At the same time, Islamic banking methods are viewed as a challenge and opportunity by conventional bankers, many of whom have sought to get involved in this growing industry. In client driven societies there is a willingness by those in financial services to learn from the experiences of Islamic banks. Further, the globalization of trade necessitates the conducting of affairs of Islamic bank with non-Islamic banks, and vice-versa. Such integrated international trade demands that business communities, banks and other trade regulatory bodies of both Muslim and non-Muslim countries should gain some understanding of the principles of Islamic banking. So the knowledge of current Islamic banking as compared to the conventional banking is very significant for economists, bankers, administrators and other peoples involved with international trade and commerce. Added to these, the increasing number Islamic banks in various countries made it a necessity for banking communities to have some insight into the workings of Islamic banks.Therefore, the present comparative research will familiarize the readers with the principles of shariah and will provide an insight into the rules and principles of Islamic banking as well. As long as individual or group of individuals failed to recognize and identify their variations, colours, nations and tribes, peaceful co-existence will no longer exist among them, and this will lead to series of violence and conflicts. In this regards Islam is a religion which adores peace rather than violence and love, compromise rather than confrontation. In line with this, the Islamic principle of reconciliation should be given attention to address the gabs caused by lack of mutual understanding. Consequent upon this, this paper reveals that reconciliation, patience (Sabr) and forgiveness will serve as tools for negotiation to reach an equitable settlement and to restore peace and security for their wellbeing. Finally, the paper recommends that, all reconciliations terms must conform with the recommendations made by Qur¿an and the traditions of Prophet (SAW).

I nyere tid har hun stået i skyggen af sin veninde og rejsefælle Selma Lagerlöf, skønt Elkan omkring år 1900 var en skattet og succesfuld forfatter. Elkan og Lagerlöf rejste i 1899-1900 sammen til bl.a. Egypten og Palæstina, hvorefter Drømmen om Østerland udkom i 1901.Sophie Elkan var niece til ejeren af ejendommen Nääs, hvor første del af romanen udspiller sig, og tilbragte der sammen med Lagerlöf 22 somre (Nääs beskrives tillige indgående i Nils Holgerssons forunderlige rejse gennem Sverige, kap. 52).
