"Tapestry of Faiths: The Torah, Bible, and Quran" presents an in-depth exploration of the interconnected narratives found in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This comprehensive work is divided into sections focusing on key biblical figures: Adam, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Each section begins with the Jewish perspective from the Torah, followed by the Christian viewpoint in the Bible, and concludes with the Islamic narrative from the Quran. Adam: Examines the creation story, the Garden of Eden, and the concept of original sin or individual accountability across the scriptures. Abraham: Discusses the call of Abraham, his trials, and the covenant with God, showcasing variations in each faith's interpretation of these events. Moses: Focuses on the life of Moses, the exodus from Egypt, and the receiving of divine laws, highlighting the role of Moses as a prophet and leader. Jesus: Presents the Christian narrative of Jesus's life and teachings, contrasted with his portrayal as a prophet in Islam, while noting his absence in Jewish scripture. This book is more than just a collection of stories; it is a journey through the spiritual and historical landscapes of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. It aims to provide readers with a greater appreciation of these religions' complexities, commonalities, and differences, thereby promoting a dialogue of understanding and respect. The book is an invaluable resource for scholars, interfaith groups, and anyone interested in the rich tapestry of religious narratives that have shaped civilizations and beliefs.
"This innovative study explores the paradox of the apostle Paul, a Jewish figure whose ideas were also radical, Christian, and even anti-Jewish. Matthew Novenson utilises Paul's particular understanding of time to explore this contradiction, focusing on Paul's conception of the end of history as present, not future"--

"But where can wisdom be found? Where does understanding dwell?" The book of Job is challenging. Its Hebrew is often obscure, its length and subject matter are intimidating, and its meaning has been debated throughout the history of biblical interpretation. In this commentary, Duane A. Garrett presents a fresh argument for the book's meaning. Job demonstrates the inability of Wisdom, as a theological tradition, to solve the problem of evil. Without rejecting Wisdom, it shows that only God can truly deal with evil. God's answer to evil is found only in Christ, who is anticipated in the book of Job. The Evangelical Exegetical Commentary series is a premiere biblical commentary rooted in the original text of Scripture. Each volume includes historical and literary insights and addresses exegetical, pastoral, and theological concerns, giving readers a full understanding of the text and how to apply it to everyday life.
Francophone Sephardic Fiction:Writing Migration, Diaspora, and Modernity approaches modern Sephardic literature in a comparative way to draw out similarities and differences among selected francophone novelists from various countries, with a focus on North Africa. The definition of Sepharad here is broader than just Spain: it embraces Jews whose ancestors had lived in North Africa for centuries, even before the arrival of Islam, and who still today trace their allegiance to ways of being Jewish that go back to Babylon, as do those whose ancestors spent a few hundred years in Iberia. The author traces the strong influence of oral storytelling on modern novelists of the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries and explores the idea of the portable homeland, as exile and migration engulfed the long-rooted Sephardic communities. The author also examines diaspora concepts, how modernity and post-modernity threatened traditional ways of life, and how humor and an active return into history for the novel have done more than mere nostalgia could to enliven the portable homeland of modern francophone Sephardic fiction.

The book, "Breaking the Code? Poetic Meter in Biblical Poetry," is a unique blend of memoir, academic research, and content designed for a general readership. This book, for the first time, systematically and clearly reveals the existence of poetic meter in the Song of the Sea, the Song of Deborah, and most of the hallelujah psalms in the book of Psalms. This discovery carries significant implications for the study of biblical poetry, the interpretation of psalm titles, the historical and cross-cultural context of Hebrew poetry, the analysis of the Hebrew language, as well as New Testament studies.

The Babylonian attack on Jerusalem in 587 BCE forced upon the Israelite survivors the realization that Yahweh, one of the gods they had venerated, was an overwhelming presence in their affairs. The attack on their city had been devastating, overturning virtually the only world they knew. Such a disaster had been prophesied by several prophets of Yahweh who had warned them against worshipping other gods than Yahweh and ignoring his commandments. These prophets reminded them that in the ancient past Yahweh had established a special relationship with their people, binding them to himself through a covenant in which Yahweh promised to protect and lead their people while they were to honor him as their only god and keep his commandments. The community of survivors living as exiles in Babylon, and their heirs who would return to Judah after 539 BCE, believed that Yahweh had caused the destruction of their society because of the refusal of their people to abide by the terms of the ancient covenant. Indeed, they saw it as an act of Yahweh's love, an appeal for them to honor him as their only god so that he could show them his favor. Anthropologist Robert Canfield examines the process by which this transformation in religious understanding took place, describing it as an example of how human beings imaginatively imbue their affairs with moral significance.
With a new foreword and chapter that address the upheaval that followed the events of September 11, Toward a Meaningful Life is a spiritual road map for living based on the teachings of one of the foremost religious leaders of our time: Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson. Head of the Lubavitcher movement for forty-four years and recognized throughout the world simply as "the Rebbe," Menachem Mendel Schneerson, who passed away in June 1994, was a sage and visionary of the highest order.Toward a Meaningful Life gives Jews and non-Jews alike fresh perspectives on every aspect of their lives -- from birth to death, youth to old age; marriage, love, intimacy, and family; the persistent issues of career, health, pain, and suffering; and education, faith, science, and government. We learn to bridge the divisions between accelerated technology and decelerated morality, between unprecedented worldwide unity and unparalleled personal disunity. At the threshold of a new world where matter and spirit converge, the Rebbe proposes spiritual principles that unite people as opposed to the materialism that divides them. In doing so, he continues to lead us toward personal and universal redemption, a meaningful life, and God.
