Romans reveals that the "righteousness of God" is ours in the Gospel of Jesus Christ through faith alone, not from works. This second Concordia Commentary volume on Paul's most famous letter covers the salvation of all who truly are "Israel" (Romans 9-11); offering ourselves as living sacrifices (Romans 12-13); the "weak" and the "strong" in the body of Christ (Romans 14-15); and the enduring message of Paul's final benediction for the Church (Romans 16). In this volume, you'll find the completion of the first genuinely Lutheran commentary published on Romans in our generation.

Ezekiel has often been called ¿the prophet of the spirit¿ because of his surpassing use of the word ¿¿¿, ¿spirit¿. The main argument of this book is that Ezekiel¿s ¿spirit¿ motif conveys a polysemous symbolism which, nonetheless, accentuates an overarching leitmotiv. Ezekiel¿s ¿spirit¿ symbolism signifies a paradigm shift in ancient Israelite visualization of divine presence in Israel: from visible phenomena and experiences, mediated through rituals at cultic shrines in Israel, to an omnipresence that is not necessarily mediated through cultus. Moreover, author Samuel W. Muindi posits that the African Pentecostal ¿en-spirited¿ worldview is an apt hermeneutical lens for understanding Ezekielian ¿spirit¿ symbolism. The experiences of the Ezekielian exilic community prefigure dynamic equivalents in African communities. As such, Ezekielian ¿spirit¿ symbolism critically informs the African Pentecostal ¿en-spirited¿ worldview while the latter illumines Ezekielian ¿spirit¿ symbolism. This book is aimed at students of Biblical theology and others who wish to enrich their understanding of hermeneutics as well as Biblical pneumatology as an ¿en-spirited¿ worldview.

Although baptized as a child and serving faithfully as a pastor and theologian in the German Evangelische Kirche, Paul Leo was persecuted, removed from his church position, and imprisoned by the Nazi regime due to his Jewish ancestry. Leo was a descendent of Moses Mendelssohn, the famous Jewish philosopher, and Fanny Hensel nee Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, the composer and pianist. The book carefully documents how the Nazis took severe measures against Leo, a Christian minister, because of his Jewish lineage. This eventuated in his incarceration in Buchenwald concentration camp before he was able to flee Germany as an exile to the United States. His escape from Germany was mediated through a refugee camp in the Netherlands and emigration to the US through the sponsorship of his colleague and friend Otto Piper, on the faculty of Princeton Theological Seminary. The story of Paul Leo in America includes his teaching at Western Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, pastorates in southern Texas, and professorship at Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. This book highlights the teaching and scholarly publications by Leo and his marriage to the accomplished artist Eva (Dittrich) Leo.
