The practice of cursing remains a significant aspect of life in many African countries. This book addresses this practice with the seriousness it deserves, arguing that Christ is the ultimate curse remover.Dr. Elkanah K. Cheboi examines the meaning and implications of the Pauline statement in Galatians that "Christ became a curse for us." Drawing from biblical passages referencing judicial curses, and the widespread practice of cursing and blessing within the Ancient Near East and Greco-Roman world, he investigates how the crucified and cursed Christ provides the ultimate solution to the power and dominion of curses. Demonstrating the insufficiencies of curse remedies, both in the ancient world and the modern African context, this study offers christological insight into the implications of Christ's death not simply for human sin but also human curses. Dr. Cheboi specifically examines parallels between the New Testament context and Kenya's Marakwet culture, where curses are still deeply feared as life-threatening and generational.Offering powerful insight into aspects of contemporary African culture not always fully understood, this book integrates biblical scholarship with practical application and is an excellent resource for pastors, missionaries, and theologians alike.

From the Protestant Reformation until the 1944 schism, Covenant Reformed theologians and Dispensational Reformed theologians served side-by-side in the work of gospel ministry. Premillennialists, amillennialists, and post-millennial teachers, pastors, professors, and evangelists partnered together in the academy and in various church related ministries. However, a sad schism developed in the 1940s that led to a split between two of the most conservative theology systems in the body of Christ due to allegations that the Dispensational premillennialists did not affirm a single plan of redemption by God's elective graces. These allegations have caused an uneccssary split and breach in the conservative body of Christ. This work highlights with in depth historical analysis that there has always been a stream of Reformed Dispensational premillenialists in the bdoy of Christ who have affirmed a single plan of redemption by the Lord's elective graces. In that stream too have been some of the most highly respected and most influential leaders in the Dispensational portion of Christ's body. The allegations that Dispensationalism is Arminian, heresy, or anti-Calvinistic does not reflect the truth. Many Dispensationalists, some of the most notable ones, have been Calvinists. Consequently, these allegations need to cease so that the godly conservatives from both the Covenant and Dispensational traditions can partner together more for the common cause of Christ.

This book is very different. It tells a story of how God can use a simple hobby, woodcarving, and teach thousands of people around the world, the Word of God in a very unique way. With no training, and using only an X-ACTO knife, it is obvious that God has called Ron to a very unlikely ministry. This book is intended to teach, challenge and inspire others to also find their own calling from God. Bible Sticks, An Unlikely Calling illustrates more than a hobby, it describes a ministry. These Bible Sticks, the subject of this book, started out as a simple teaching tool for the young people at church, but has developed into the most unique way in teaching the Bible. The book describes and illustrates each Bible Stick, sharing in detail the exciting adventure in creating each one.

THIS IS A BOOK THAT WILL PROVE THAT YOU CANNOT JUDGE BY ITS COVER. I SAID, "THE BIBLE CONTRADICTS." I DID NOT SAY, "GOD CONTRADICTS." WHEN YOU COME TO KNOW THAT JESUS IS THE ONLY GOD SITTING ON THE THRONE IN HEAVEN, ONLY THEN YOU WILL KNOW THE CONTRADICTIONS BY THE NEW TESTAMENT WRITERS ABOUT THE FATHER, JESUS, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. THE CONTRADICTIONS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT DO NOT MAKE WHAT GOD SAID TO BE NON-EFFECT. I invite everyone to read the book to avoid preconceived ideas and misconceptions. Pastors and church leaders especially need to read it.....................................................................................................................................STAY TUNED FOR MY NEXT THREE BOOKS: ¿ THE 144,000 IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION.¿ SALVATION IS CONDITIONAL.¿ FAITH THAT WORKS, NOT FAITH ALONE.....................................................................................................................................

Christianity has been around for over two thousand years. So who's right and wrong regarding Catholic or Protestant beliefs? What does the Bible say?We look at some of the issues: baptism and the correct way. Purgatory, is there such a place? The immortal soul, is it immortal after death? Who are saints? Are traditions equal to biblical scripture? Is the rapture just a story, or does it have another meaning or time? Finally, in The Religious Divide, we look at some differences between Catholicism, Protestantism, and the Bible--and come to a better understanding. If you have ever had these questions, this book is for you. In addition, this book includes references from where Catholicism takes its answers, the Vulgate Bible and the writings of men, where Protestantism gets its answers from the King James Version, and what does the Bible has to say on these subjects.Whether you're curious or want to know, get your copy of The Religious Divide today.

Who was Jesus? A bishop recently used His biography to illustrate a good theological point when he described Him as 'an uneducated man from Nazareth, son of a poor carpenter named Joseph who preached in several synagogues'.The implication is that all the wisdom Jesus exhibits comes from God who would surely have informed Him of modern technology, whereas Jesus clearly demonstrates a detailed knowledge of Alexandrine philosophy. Then why would a poor carpenter make a long journey to Bethlehem to register for Roman taxation? The Roman taxation system depended upon identifying wealth and grabbing a portion of it.In this book we try to answer these conundrums by looking at the New Testament and attempting to separate myth from history. We arrive at the almost inevitable conclusion that Jesus was the son of Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy merchant of Alexandria, received His education at the best of institutions of the time and married Mary Magdalene to qualify to speak in a synagogue. We use the text of the King James version and try to compare different accounts of the same incidents to see how the Christian Church came to be.

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." (Matthew 13:45-46)Volume 9A deep, inspiring, and often challenging study of the Lord Jesus Christ's miracles and parables.Men who were led by the hand or groped their way along the wall to reach Jesus were touched by his finger and went home without a guide, rejoicing that Jesus Christ had opened their eyes. Jesus is still able to perform such miracles. And, with the power of the Holy Spirit, his Word will be expounded and we'll watch for the signs to follow, expecting to see them at once. Why shouldn't those who read this be blessed with the light of heaven? This is my heart's inmost desire.I can't put fine words together. I've never studied speech. In fact, my heart loathes the very thought of intentionally speaking with fine words when souls are in danger of eternal punishment. No, I work to speak straight to your hearts and consciences, and if there is anyone with faith to receive, God will bless them with fresh revelation.- Charles H. SpurgeonIn this ninth volume, Charles H. Spurgeon expounds on the pearl of great price, the parable of the vineyard workers, the first and the last, the parable of the wedding feast, the parable of the talents, the parable of the sower, the blind leading the blind, the separating of the goats and the sheep, and he includes a message for nominal believers.List of ChaptersA Great Bargain (Matthew 13:45-46)Early and Late (Matthew 20:1, 3, 5-6)The First Last, and the Last First (Matthew 19:30)A Message to Nominal Followers of Religion (Matthew 21:28-32)Work for Jesus (Matthew 21:28)The Parable of the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:2-4)Making Light of Christ (Matthew 22:5)The Wedding Was Furnished with Guests (Matthew 22:10)What Is the Wedding Garment? The Atonement is R. W. Dale's exceptional commentary upon the pillar belief of Christianity: that Jesus died for the sins of humanity and was reconciled with His father, the Lord God.Originally, this Biblical study was delivered as a series of lectures to students and believers present at the Congregational Union Memorial Hall in England. R. W. Dale sought to share decades of accumulated study and wisdom to seekers of Christ, and clarify the circumstances and significance of the death of Jesus upon the cross. The treatment given by Dale is thoroughly meticulous and therefore lengthy; in total ten lectures are accompanied by annotations appended as endnotes to each, with further long notes present in the appendix. The Biblical scholarship of R. W. Dale is in full display in this work. Chapter by chapter and verse by verse, we are taken through words pertinent to the death of Jesus and the atonement. Analysis of the Gospels and the appraisal of the Apostle Paul are accompanied with a deeper reading of various Bible passages, plus the meditations of Saint Peter and other Christian figures. The very theology of Christianity is explained at length; Christ declared that His blood be shed for the remission of sins, this phrase alone proving a wellspring for devotion.

  • af Alfred Edersheim
    133,95 kr.

Alfred Edersheim's classic commentary on the Biblical Book of Exodus is admired for its fluency of explanation, and for the author's immense knowledge of Old Testament lore.Exodus, the second book of the Old Testament, is renowned for its telling of how the ancient Hebrews departed from the Kingdom of the Egyptians. Egypt at the time was ruled by the Pharaoh, a proud and domineering ruler who oppressed those who believed in the one, true God. The manner in which God treated His peoples, showing them a path away from the misery of Pharaoh's rule, and unleashing a series of misfortunes upon the Pharaoh and the Egyptian citizens, form some of the Bible's most memorable passages.Edersheim's narrative is not simply an explanatory reading of the Biblical text; it also delves into the history of Egypt, as discovered by archaeologists and chroniclers of its ancient past. The referencing of multiple and varied sources enhances the commentary, making it useful for students of theology and lay believers alike. The author served as a minister in England; through effort and voracity he became a leading scholar and authority upon the Bible in the 19th century, his books frequently consulted by the Christian priesthood and adherents.

From the so-bad-they're...still bad actually...Left Behind series, to conspiracy theories about microchips and barcodes, to all-too-real political discourse and actions, John's visions in Revelation reach far beyond anything their ancient author could have imagined. But what did John imagine? Who was he writing for and why? And what's the deal with all the hideous horned beasts? Join New Testament scholar Robyn Whitaker as she uncovers the real-world contexts behind this ancient apocalyptic text. A world occupied by an oppressive empire, a marginalized people, and a God committed to justice. Where a beast overthrown was a declaration of authority and a falling star was a statement of evil's demise. Where symbols gave voice to resistance and visions provided a glimpse of hope. A world utterly and entirely ancient.Only when we understand Revelation's ancient contexts can we begin to find meaning from it for our own. Learn to read Revelation well with The Bible for Normal People-bringing the best in biblical scholarship to everyone.
