The author has written and produced numerous plays for the Church, the Academy, and professional theatrical environments. In this book, he provides aesthetic keys for the faith-based writer and offers a close examination of ways to write the play from its inspirational calling in terms of structure, characterization, and theme. Readers will benefit from the author's exploration of how subjects such as destiny, mystery, sin, incarnation, and redemption, to name several, can effectively work on the stage. In addition to theological and theoretical frameworks, the author offers practical writing advice to help Christian writers integrate belief systems into intense character arcs, powerful dialogue, imagery, and theme. The author also provides essays and chapters on how to discover and create production venues for writing efforts in one's own immediate community, with exercises at the end of each chapter for personal writing development.
As its title suggests, this work by St. Bernard of Clairvaux in interested in promoting the new moral code of combat that has been baptized and become the groundwork for the various Catholic military orders. While Catholic orders for the maintenance for the hospital in Jerusalem and the Holy Sepulcher had already been established, St. Bernard wants to bluster the morale and prestige of the the Knights of the Temple, also known as the Templar Knights to history. He sees their efforts in the Holy Land as being necessary to curb both the military prowess of the Saracens, but to dull the seemingly endless wars of European knights in Christendom by direct their hostility outward.
Witness, Specialist, Moderator prioritises the importance of Catholic education as a framework for living, based on the ideal of loving God and loving your neighbour. It looks at where we have come from, where we are now and the hope we hold for the future of the faith in Australia and those who will carry it forward.Authors Bernadette Mercieca and Ann Rennie have lived this book for decades. Every idea has been tested in the rough and tumble of the classroom and every chapter poses reflection questions for those who would like to engage deeper with the book.
When Jesus told Nicodemus that he must be 'born of the Spirit' He affirmed human sexuality as an appropriate metaphor for understanding the faith. Being 'born again' is one of the foundational concepts of Christianity, yet how many of us have ever heard a 'birds and bees' talk, expanding on how spiritual reproduction works?Traditionally, the church seems to avoid deep and open dialogue about sexuality, as a result Christians can find themselves poorly defended against pervasive secular trends, and ill-equipped to give compelling reasons for maintaining sexual standards. Discovering The Gospel In Our Sexuality reveals the faith affirming and purposeful nature of our sexuality. The cycle-of-life is not a series of random physical processes that must be negotiated as best we can; instead, human sexuality is a divinely crafted allegory that proclaims a profound message, beautifully articulating God's restorative plan for humanity.
Is it Really the End? This Letter to the author's son outlines the seven year tribulation and roughly when the rapture of the blameless occurs. It shows exactly where we are on the timeline - and gives substantial insight as to different events that will unfold between September 2023 to 2030 - and beyond. But it's written in as easily understood fashion for those who aren't as familiar with the Bible. This brief book, though packed with information, provides a solid overview of the truth that lies ahead. Many, if not most people, will not acknowledge that we are in the final seven years before Jesus Christ returns to reign on the earth. But if these last seven years haven't begun by the end of 2023, they surely will by the end of 2024. Paula Cross has been studying the Bible closely, with determination to strictly know the truth, constantly seeking God on her every point of interpretation, having zero bias except that it's the truth. Consequently, Paula demonstrate that Jesus will be back with the Millenial Reign of Christ beginning in 2031. And her passion is to teach and warn as many people as possible. Ironically, Paula has a son, named Timothy, and he has a grandmother, named Lois, just like the Apostle Paul had his spiritual son, Timothy, who had a grandmother, Lois, in the Bible. This was't planned. Timothy's father named him. Later, when Paula learned of the irony of their names, she knew her Timothy would be one of her prodeges. The problem is he has literally and painfully been lost in the wilderness for years. In fact, he's been so out of her reach that she hasn't been able to talk to him like she can her other children. So that is why this letter was written to him. However, it's not meant for her Timothy alone! It is meant for anyone and everyone who wants to know what is going on in the world. This book is a simple but thorough explanation and overview of the entire seven year tribulations as revealed in the Bible. It's a summarized breakdown of how the final 7 years before Christ comes back will unfold. It also explains her unique, never before taught perspective as to WHEN the final three Feasts of the Lord will be fulfilled. And her theory aligns perfectly with her final seven year outline. This letter further explains how the rapture is connected to the Feast of Atonement. And it exposes the truth that the 2023 "Revelation 12 Sign" as a Counterfeit, along with when and why other certain events transpire, including the timeframe that the rapture and the Great Tribulation occur. And this letter even explains WHY these seven years of tribulation have to transpire in the first place - as well the imperative necessity and how to be safe throughout it all!
On First Principles is the most important surviving text written by third-century Church father, Origen. Origen wrote in a time when fundamental doctrines had not yet been fully articulated by the Church, and contributed to the very formation of Christianity.
The greatest expression of the New Testament church, as outlined in the book of Ephesians, is the army. I believe the army dimension is higher than the bride, the body, or the city. The army allows us to see the fulfillment of God's promises to His bride. This book is about taking back what the enemy has stolen and returning to Zion. For that to happen, we need believers trained in covert operations. We need people that know how to operate in secular Babylon. This manuscript is about raising prophetic people who can infiltrate the secular world for the kingdom's sake. Kingdom people are not only those who sing Christian songs and speak in tongues, but it is people who know how to represent the kingdom in the world.
As individuals, we mature and progress in our relationship with God. We also mature and progress in our understanding and application of God's Word. Our world, nation and community need the message of Jesus' Gospel teachings of grace through tolerance more than ever. There is a need for wise and effective teachers and witnesses of those teachings. Besides spiritual leadership there is a need for loving tolerance of people with different beliefs and lifestyles. Just as Jesus modeled such behavior towards those he personally encountered, we as his believers need to model such a lifestyle. May we always be reminded of the great admonition from Billy Graham, "It's the Holy Spirit's job to convict, God's job to judge, and my job to love." The believer's academic understanding of scripture has little meaning unless there is day-to-day application of our faith knowledge. May God forgive us when we fail to be the peacemakers in our communities. May his grace through tolerance enable us to become his voice and his actions in our walk with him.
The characters discover that everyone is special and unique in their own way. As they meet new friends they understand what differences made them special.
Historically, the term "catechism" did not refer to a particular type of book but to a collection of traditional formulations of the basic teachings of the Christian faith. At the time of the Reformation, Martin Luther's concern for the spiritual wellbeing of the laity prompted him to reorganize that material with a new sequence: first the law as summarized by the Ten Commandments, then the gospel as summarized by the Apostles' Creed, and finally discipleship as summarized by the Lord's Prayer and the biblical passages pertaining to Holy Baptism, confession, and the Sacrament of the Altar. His accompanying explanations constitute the Small and Large Catechisms, presenting each part "as the housefather should teach it in a simple way to his household." This resource facilitates such usage by arranging Luther's texts in parallel as a six-month daily devotional, with each pair of readings accompanied by a few questions for reflection and a brief prayer.
The Christmas story is God's way of telling us that we are loved radically and unconditionally by him, and this is how we are to be defined as people, the people of God, the people who belong to God, the people of God. Such love by its very nature is intimate, revealed in the birth of a child who was born in a stable and laid in a manger, whilst at the same time sharing our flesh and blood. Why do we find this so difficult to believe? Perhaps, it is because that, deep down, we see ourselves as being unattractive and undesirable. Yet time and time again, throughout the Gospels, we discover a God who, through His Son, seeks out the rejected, despised, unwanted and unloved and assures them of one thing, God's unconditional love. This book invites the reader, therefore, to simply spend time with the word of God during the seasons of Advent and Christmas. In this way, a treasure might well be discovered that God is, in fact, closer to us than we could ever imagine and loves us more than we could ever know. In his writings Deacon Sean has sought to help spread the Gospel to the world at large, encouraging the reader to not only read about the faith but to go out, and live it as well, through practical language, and simple faith.Father Andrew FranklinParish Priest Our Lady of the Wayside
This famous bishop of Lyon, St. Eucherius, sought to counter some of the extremity of his own time, both in terms of the lawlessness which was becoming rampant in southern Gaul, as well as the punitive self-denial pushed by some monastic groups. This work, originally titled in Latin formularum spiritalis intelligentiae, intends to offer some directive for initiates into the Christian life. In this way he is a forerunner to St. Ignatius and his own work the Spiritual Exercises. St. Eucherius also uses this work to emphasis the allegorical value of the Greek and Hebrew scriptures, and expands them for potential mystical interpretation.
Four Fun Nativity PlaysSuitable for Gathered CongregationsWhen Nick Thomas was landed with the job of producing the annual Nativity Play, he decided to refresh the tradition with some twists of his own. The result was this collection of four plays flexible enough to be performed in any space with any number of children, guaranteed to warm heart and raise laughs from any congregation.
While the specifics of these canons are unlikely to have been from the hand of St. Patrick, they are attributed to him. They also grant insight into some of the early issues that the Irish church was facing in the century after the death of Patrick. Full communion with Rome had yet to be achieved, and the standardization of church policies needed to be addressed. This is a document that stands as a landmark text to the Irish church and the growth of Christianity in Ireland and Scotland.
