This book contains Fifty-seven Spanish homily reflections based on the Roman Catholic Lectionary readings. This is the third book of homilies written by this author for liturgical year B. Each one page Spanish homily reflection is printed on the left page with the exact English translation printed on the right page. The homilies contained in the Homilías/Homilies series of books were written in Spanish and translated into English - not vice versa as is often times done on other books of this type. They were written especially for those who have little time to prepare their own homilies or who have difficulties in preparing them. They are also a perfect gift for recently ordained deacons and priests. They may be read as is or used as reflections in the preparation of homilies. They are also useful for prayer groups who meditate on the Sunday Readings during their meetings.
A Little Guy's Rocket Ride to God takes readers on the childhood adventure of Douglas, the author. Douglas is a native Texan, the youngest of four brothers, raised with his siblings in Bellaire, Texas, a small city nestled within the city limits of Houston, Texas. He and his wife currently reside in Houston with their two spoiled Hungarian Vizslas. Even at a very young age, Douglas knew that the rocket ride he experienced while living in Bellaire was God's message to him, teaching him that there was nothing to fear in life. When Douglas was only 16, his father died, and at 17, his mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given four months to live. He would later remember God's message while supporting his mother through her long journey and, ultimately, her transition into God's loving arms. He had to grow up fast, focusing heavily on his scholastics, which led to him obtaining both undergraduate and graduate degrees while caring for his mother. Since his life-changing rocket ride, Douglas still attempts to do three nice things per day, and he hopes that his journey will inspire readers, young and old, to continue to do good every day. Profits from this book will be donated to Christian outreach organizations in Texas.
Entrepreneurs may feel called to grow whatever catches their interest, including churches. But Pastors are not called to be entrepreneurs. Pastors are not called to grow the church. Pastors are called to grow the people. The kingdom of darkness rejoices when we turn our focus to anything that competes with Christ for our attention. Anything, no matter how important man thinks it is, that competes with Christ for our focus is clearly inferior and not what we have been called to lift up.A Pastor's focus is and always truly must be on Christ.
Colossians 2:6-7 say, As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.God desires all people to be saved. He also desires all those who are saved, no matter their age, to be rooted in Him, built up in Him, and stablished in the faith. This practical devotional book will help young people be what God wants them to be.
There are not many books that empathize with people who feel lost and hopeless at the holidays and then earnestly desire to help them towards finding new hope. Too often in books about this time of year, there is an assumption that everyone at Thanksgiving and Christmas is happy, excited, and faith-filled. By writing it creatively through the lens of A Christmas Carol, whose main character is known to so many people as one who makes this spiritual journey, this book takes a unique turn.Paul E. Jarzembowski serves on staff at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) in Washington DC and has been engaged in pastoral ministry, evangelization, training, teaching, and consulting for over two decades across the United States and around the world. +
