Planter og urter fra klostrenes haver reddede liv og gav krydderi på tilværelsen! Klosterhaven ved Øm åbner for den videnskab, munkene bragte med sig sydfra, og som lagde en systematisk bund for vor viden om læge- og krydderplanter i dag.Lene Mollerups bog er for det første et katalog over den flora, som findes i klosterhaven i dag. Men den er også en kulturhistorisk redegørelse for, hvad en klosterhave er med udgangspunkt i Øm Kloster, der grundlagdes af cisterciensermunke i 1172 tæt ved Ry i Midtjylland.Øm Klosters have er Danmarks bedst udforskede, og unikke skriftlige, middelalderlige kilder fra klosteret selv og arkæologiske og botaniske undersøgelser giver et særligt indblik i og forståelse for brugen af disse planter, som munkene dyrkede og anvendte i såvel mixturer som i madlavning.Bogen består af to hoveddele: en kulturhistorisk oversigt over klosterhavers væsen og historie generelt og selvfølgelig Øm Klosterhave i særdeleshed, men også de øvrige danske klosterhaver. Bogens anden del er dels et herbarium over Øm Klosterhaves nuværende 80 planter, dels en komplet liste over alle videnskabeligt dokumenterede planter ved Øm.Bogen er meget velillustreret, og hver plante i herbariet er vist med foto.

Den hellige Benedikts Regel er den klassiske vesterlandskemunkeregel. Den udkom i dansk oversættelse på Katolsk Forlag i 2017 medindledning, bibelhenvisninger og ordliste, men uden kommentar. En sådanuddybende kommentar, der forklarer Benedikts hensigt og slår bro mellem500-tallet og vor egen tid, bringes her.

Den hellige Birgitta af Vadstena(1303-1373) er en af kirkehistoriens få kvindeskikkelser. Til gengæld lyser hunså meget, at det den dag i dag er en stærk oplevelse af læse om hende. BodilBusk Sørensen kommer omkring hele hendes spændende liv i denne udgivelse.Birgitta blev født ind iden svenske lagmandsadel og levede første halvdel af sit liv i Sverige. Hunville fra barndommen af have været nonne, men blev efter sin fars vilje gift ien alder af 13 år og fødte siden 8 børn. Birgitta lagde stor vægt påfromhedslivet og drog på adskellige pilgrimsrejser. Dette førte hende bla tilRom, Santiago de Compostela og Jerusalem. I Rom hvor hun levede anden halvdel af sit liv,vandt hun stor berømmelse som profet og forfatter. Hun stiftede sin egenklosterorden, Birgittinerordenen, der eksisterer den dag i dag. Der eroverleveret over 700 visioner, som Birgitta siges at have haft.

Der Band ist die erste ausführliche Studie zum dominikanischen Drittorden im deutschsprachigen Raum des ausgehenden Mittelalters. Während die Forschung herausgearbeitet hatte, dass der Predigerorden seit 1405 über eine sogenannte Drittregel zur Integration von Lai:innen (z. B. Beginen) in den Orden verfügte, bestanden zu deren weiterer Geschichte Lücken, die durch die Arbeit geschlossen werden. Erstmals eingehend analysiert werden die Legitimierungsbemühungen, mit denen die Dominikaner ihre Drittregel propagierten, und die Einführung der Drittregel in Frauengemeinschaften mit Hinblick auf die agency der Frauen. Weiterhin wird mit dem Einsatz der Drittregel für klösterliche Dienstleute ein von der Forschung vernachlässigter Aspekt des dominikanischen Ordenslebens aufgezeigt. Zudem widmet sich die Studie der voranschreitenden, aber wenig geradlinigen "Verklösterlichung" des Drittordens. Der Drittorden wird als Teil komplexer Regulierungsprozesse in der religiösen Landschaft des Spätmittelalters gedeutet, die wenig stabil waren, weil die neu eingeführte Regel unter dem Eindruck neuer Probleme ihrerseits modifiziert wurde. Der Band ist von Interesse für alle, die zur Verbindung von Ordens-, Religions- und Sozialgeschichte forschen.

The emergence of nuns as members or associates or followers of the Cistercian Order is shrouded in uncertainty. They are not mentioned in the earliest document of the White Monks, the Exordium Parvum, compiled by perhaps 1150, nor in the first codification of Cistercian statutes in 1202. Yet, by the year 1200, in France alone some one hundred nunneries claimed to be Cistercian. From the early to mid-thirteenth century there was to be a rapid growth in the number of convents, reminiscent of the speedy advance of the male houses of the Order in the previous century. By the time of the European Reformation the number of convents in Europe and the Near East claiming to be Cistercian has been variously estimated at between five and nine hundred. In this study, David Williams charts the growth of these female houses ¿ their foundation, the different physical locations of the convent sites, their buildings and possessions, the communities and their finances and their daily life ¿ incorporating a wealth of fascinating detail about many of the nuns themselves and of their royal, aristocratic and clerical patrons. The theme of the third conference, held on the campus of Nashotah House from June 23-25, 2022, was "From Anchorhold to Parish: English Monasticism & Anglican Spirituality." The sixteenth-century Church of England was greatly influenced by late medieval English monastic spirituality. John Bede Pauley and Bede Thomas Mudge have both shown the monastic influence, especially from the Benedictines, on the Book of Common Prayer; and scholars such as Eamon Duffy have demonstrated the continuity between late medieval devotional practices and early Anglican piety. The use of the vernacular and an emphasis on the suffering Jesus, for example, are late medieval themes that recur in early Anglican faith and practice. Thus, the 2022 conference sought to explicate how late medieval English monastic spirituality was resourced by early Anglican Christians in both their personal devotional life and in parish practice.>Dr. Ann W.
